The idea of dialogues, maybe explaining the history of monoliths, sounds very cool indeed!

    Updates!

Bonjour Le Grand Monsieur marsaults! Thank you very much for the recent updates! The new planet liftoff sequence definitely makes a difference!! Could you someday work on planetary entry? We want to experience entering through planets' atmospheres, and then landing on the surface, if possible. :)

BTW, the legendary coordinates disappearing bug is still present even after this latest update. I made video showing it:

I will try to improve landing too. That would be nice.
Concerning your bug, i watched the video, and it seems that the coordinates you entered don't correspond to real system coordinates. In the legendary section, i see that you don't have 3 coordinates (x,y,z) for any legendary system yet (you have to fill the 3 dots of a line in order to have the 3 coordinates of a legendary system). For the moment, you have only 1 coordinate for each of your legendary systems. So the coordinates you entered (0,0,248 i believe) don't correspond to a real system coordinates.
So when you arrive near this coordinates, your computer sees there are no corresponding system, and delete the trajectory.
To be clear: each line represents a legendary systems. Each of the 3 dots on the line represents a missing coordinate for this system. Once you discover the 3 coordinates of a legendary system (you have 3 numbers on the line) you can enter them.

    I hope i'm clear!

Edit: thanks for the french words!

    Je Comprend~

    Thanks for your explanation, marsaults, I now completely understand. I had traveled 800 light years on a whim just to find out that the computer also didn't know where the planet was because I entered incomplete legendary coordinates, haha!! So next time, once I enter the FULL coordinates of a Legendary System, I'll be able to arrive at the proper destination. Until then, I must continue my search. ^_^;;;

Good luck on improving planetary atmospheric entry/landing. :p

tintin888 - Legendary Systems will show you something beyond your wildest dreams! These systems look completely different....everything looks so magical and mystic. On the planets of these Legendary Systems, there are many anomalies, lightning tears across the cloudy sky, the true power of the monoliths are revealed, etc. ;)

I was wondering did you ever hear of a little known french space travel game called Captain Blood that used iconography to decipher alien languages? Like most weird / niche games it was loved by some and hated by others. I only played the English version a tiny bit as a child since it was beyond my understanding but the visuals and concept were very striking.

Absolutely, i played it on my amstrad cpc 6128 when i was 12! I remember this galaxy map, where you can choose your destination by selecting one of the pixel of the screen (160x200).... In my memories, the dialogue system with aliens was very interesting. I spent a lot of time playing with it. I remember the music intro too, composed by Jean-Michel Jarre, which was amazing. It was a great game. Like elite and few other games, it is really inspiring for those who like space exploration. There was a sequel to Captain Blood, which i never played. But i believe it lost the original charm: imagination is definitively better than CD ROM video sequences!

That is very cool! Ambitious games like Captain Blood, Elite, and Shogun left huge impressions on me despite not fully understanding them at the time which shaped my desire to dive into those types of games as an adult. I never played the sequel to Captain Blood either but I agree that looking back gaming was at a artistic low point in the early to mid 90's with the introduction of CD-Rom video sequences although I was blinded at the time by how amazing it was to see full motion video in a video game. Star Control 2 on the 3DO was a shining example of the new format doing justice to a game but that and a few other great games were exceptions.

Love it, keep up the good work

    Hey maurault,
I've gotta say, I've never played a game like this one on mobile, and I love it. I'm using an iPhone 6.
That being said, it does come with its problems. I really appreciate the continuous work you've put into it so far, and my hope is that work continues.
If I may, I would like to suggest that the UI needs some improvement, it would be nice if the buttons were easier to press and the computer would be more intuitive. I use the commodities market a lot and it would help if I could scroll through everything more easily, and if the text were a bit easier to see. I love the varied prices from system to system.
The navigation needs a lot of work. I feel like the map is very limited, and the coordinates are quite useless if setting a goal doesn't last for more than one hyperdrive jump and refuel. I would like to be able to set a coordinate goal, then jump from star to star until I reach it.
Also, entering the coordinates needs to be way easier. It feels clunky and awkward, and so it's inconvenient in general.
At some point, I had bought a weapon that, after a few systems of travel, disappeared, and I was using my old one again.
I also purchased a new ship and all my valuable cargo disappeared. Perhaps we could either keep our old ship or sell it, while retaining the cargo? Also, shouldn't we be able to keep the older weapons we've bought when we get new ones? I don't see why they just disappear.
When I discovered a monolith, I scanned it right away, and I think I cut off the second message that pops up saying I've found a new part of the coordinates. So in this case, I've discovered four monoliths, but have only 3 pieces of the coordinates for legendary systems.

Sorry about all the complaining. It's a great game, and I would love to see more improvement.

It happens to me a lot to. I have discover many monoliths but only some seem to give me coordinates. Not sure if it is a glitch or purposeful

I think it's deliberate. I've been playing quite a while and still don't have all coordinates for the legendary systems.

If it's too easy what's the point? :D

    Thanks!

The UI surely needs improvement. I will add this to my todo list. Is the text too small on your iPhone 6?

Navigation is supposed to work like that: you enter the coordinates of distant system (which coordinates must be coordinates of an EXISTANT system, otherwise your computer will lost it), and your computer show you the way until you reach your destination. If this doesn't last for more than one hyperdrive, then it means that the coordinates were wrong (no associated systems), or it is a bug... Tell me more if you have time to.

So that is a bug i don't know yet. Added in my toto list.

I will allow players to keep their cargo. But why would you keep your older weapons?

As said by DRH, it is deliberate. Maybe i should add some text to make that clear in the game.

No problem. This kind of remarks help me to improve the game, so i thank you for having taken time to post!

Thank you for the quick response!

    Hey marsaults
Thank you for the quick and thorough response, let me see if I can address all the points you made.
On the smaller screen of the iPhone 6, the text is one or two points too small, although not impossible to read. I like the text size for the "rank" section the top left of the Computer screen. I know not all of the text can be blown up, but a few tweaks would be awesome.

The navigation system was a little tricky to figure out at first but I get the gist of how you put it together. There were no bugs, I just locked on to a closer system during my travel toward the more distant one. It would be great to have two guiding lines, one for a distant waypoint perhaps that could be set by entering coordinates or even searching the system name, and another as the regular "lock".

The 3D map could perhaps use filters that exclusively show certain pieces of system information or certain system levels. I would also love to be able to bookmark or favorite systems.

The weapon I thought disappeared was attached to the old ship when I bought a new one. I didn't realize new ships come with their own set of new guns as well. My only problem was I had a higher level weapon attached to my lower level ship. To ensure none of it goes to waste, I've learned to sell the old ship and gun before buying a new ship. This way the "ship model" section is blank until I buy a new one.

I know this is all a lot to ask for, considering the hours of programming that might go into implementing any number of features, so I appreciate your time looking into this.

Anyhoo, by now I've put over 24 hours into the game, and I'm off to get myself a Big Bang Explorer!

Great to see you're enjoying the game as much as we do :)

As you say, to get the most profit from the old ship, what you must do is first sell the weapon, then the old ship and finally buy a new one. If you just buy a new ship without selling everything manually, you lose a lot of money.

    Stellar Update!

I really like the new update! The cockpit looks great, and the rolling/yaw effects are nice additions to the game! It definitely improves the user experience; I'm also still liking the takeoff animation enhancement, now if only planetary entry could be glorified as well someday. :)

And what's really needed: multi-planetary systems (in a variety of sizes) with moons (asteroids, comets, etc) all following proper orbits.

Needed no, wanted yes ;) never forget though that this game was never built on a base of unachieved promises (NMS anyone?), and even though it came out rough around the edges, it's become a great game IMO.

This being said, I really like the look of the new cockpit. Is the cockpit design the same in all the ships?
