    Imperial Solvency

Thank you valiant developer marsaults! I really hope that this problem could be fixed for everyone who may have this problem. I personally think the Imperials have a natural inherent thirst for blood. xD

That's actually a pretty good idea, VirtualBoyFreak! Since Imperials generally work for an Empire, we can deduce that these people/beings' leader has great wealth back at the base, but the pilots may possibly be paid poorly....so either a higher bribe would be needed OR marsaults could introduce some sort of micro-diplomacy that could allow one to improve relations (could be through favors [HARD to implement?] or a simply large percentage payment [EASY to implement?]). ;)

BUG REPORT: This thread's rating is STILL at 2.5 stars, can you fix it marsaults? :)

Release 1.0.45 is submitted! It doesn't include animals yet, as it takes more time than what i thought... I don't want players to wait too long between updates, so i decided to release this intermediate version. The main feature is that resources on planet are now 3d objects (crytal like) that disappear when you extract them. I changed the imperial behaviour when player has a bad reputation too (temporary disactivated). And different colors for the new station.
I'm still working on animal presence, hope it will be active in the next release!

Senkoujin: the 2.5 star rating is the appstore's one!

I think simple 3D objects on the planet surface would be an amazing add-on. We already have monoliths on normal planets,
    mayan-esque temples
on legendary systems and now the crystals you mention.

If possible, my suggestions for simple 3D objects are:

    - Rocks (the asteroid models would be fine).
    - Crashed spaceships (the current spaceship models with smoke coming out of them would be cool).
    - Abandoned buildings with different shows of wear due to climate.
-... (I'll add more as soon as I imagine them :p).

I also agree that the imperial behaviour when having a bad reputation should be revised. It gets tedious to arrive to planets and have to fight them every single time. Maybe put them on par with the rebels, in which they don't attack if you don't attack. You could also be fined for destroying rebels, as you're fined when destroying imperials. You could have an imperial fine and a rebel fine, deciding which to pay at any given moment.

Also, are you finally going to remove the indication of where the cockpit is in the ship purchase menu or leave it as it is now? I think it's better to have the models with or without cabin, but to remove the "line and square" in any case. That's my opinion though...

Update is live. I still haven't played yet (aside from testing the update worked well), but I really like that the radar range is limited on planets and you have to explore to get all resources. That gives a reason to explore planets! ;)

Hey Marsaults, did you introduce any changes to the enemy behaviour in the latest updates? Since you fixed the laser and elite ships issues, battles are more difficult, which is great! My shields went down to 35-40% in my last game, so I had to change strategy to avoid getting destroyed. My HUD was a mess, all broken and flashing, hehehe.

I also like a lot the look of the crystals on the planets and the new colours of the space stations. Keep up the great work!

Yeah, actually seeing the crystals makes a big difference in giving you the feeling you are actually mining. Have not tried battles yet, should be interesting. I've gotten pretty low on shields before, especially with 5 ships on me and then jumping into another battle of 4 ships right after I finished off the first 5.

Yes, the enemy ships maneuver very well, and they are more difficult to hit and destroy. I encounter a lot of Big Bang Explorer types...the good thing is that if you encounter these guys during space travel, you can destroy them and earn like 120000U. ;)

Thank you very much for this update, marsaults! The Imperials are now tame and usually (not all the time) won't attack unless provoked (attacked). I have done some KILL REBELS missions, but the relationship status did not improve yet....is there any kind of meter or numerical value that could be implemented to show relationship status/points so that the player can know the exact relationship status?

I've drawn up some concept art for your review.

When I'm in need of credits, I go to the mission board and accept one of the "kill outlaws" missions. Those ones grant you not only the credits of the mission itself, but alsothe credits for killing each of the ships. That means that in my current level, cleaning two systems of outlaws can grant me 800k-1m credits ;) I'm currently travelling to the coordinates dlh1961 gave me to purchase a profitable space station (some pages back in this thread), but I'm still 3,700LY away from them.

Hi, a few suggestions. I've been an avid gamer for years but many aspects of this game are confusing:
1- Detailed instructions on different aspects of the game. The ingame ones are limited.
2- I still don't know what the "Skip" button is for. Skip what?
3- How do you land or enter a planets landing zone? I did it once, probably by mistake. I don't know what I did.
4- How do you find the resources on a planet? I've moved around and scanned at each move but found nothing. How far/long should I move around/scan?

    Hi there.

    1. Well, my only help here is to encourage you to play and try things. It wasn't too difficult for me, and I'm quite lame (too old?) at games that don't carry my hand. The game surely can improve in this aspect, but it's quite accessible as it is. I mean, it's not extremely hard to learn how everything goes.

    2. Skip button is to skip the processes of approaching a planet, landing on the planet and taking off from planet to space. If you press skip you'll get faster, but you'll skip the animations (landing process, approach to the landing window, etc.).

    3. The planet landing zone is a square, which is indicated by a spot on the radar (can't remember the colour now, sorry). It's near the planet, and you'll now you're pointing it if the skip button appears. If you've auto-landed in the space station, the skip button should appear immediately. If you land manually in the space station, then you'll have to look for the landing window first. Once you see the skip button, you have the option of skipping the approach, or continue approaching the landing window until you cross it, moment in which the landing process will begin automatically.

    4. Resources on a planet are red spots on the radar, and since the latest update by crystals seen on the planet surface. By moving around, you have to get a red spot in the inner oval of the radar (i.e.: approach the crystals), near to the center spot of the radar. Once there, click on "scan" and you should get a message saying you found a resource. Click on "extract" and you'll get it. Bear in mind that some planets don't have resources.

If you enjoyed games as Elite Space Trader, you'll surely love this one :)

    Hi VBF,
Thank you for a great response. Yeah I'm old also ;) For sure, detailed instructions like you posted would be invaluable.

I take it these resources could be sold and that's the object?

Also, just thinking back, when trading, which color/column should be purchased? It's hard to tell what is buy low/sell high price. And if you don't get a higher sell price on your next star port do you travel to another system to find where the buy back price would be high?

Yeap, buying and selling is the objective. The first column is the mean price, the second column the price at which you can buy the objects, and the third one the credits you get for selling the objects.

First look at the appropriate column, and the colours you should be looking for are basically:

    - light blue: slight benefit.
    - dark blue: benefit.
    - green: good benefit.
    - yellow: very good benefit.
    - red: excellent benefit.

The normal colour for prices that don't give benefit is a greyish blue, similar to the light blue. So you'd basically be looking for dark blue onwards.

Depending on the products, usually dark blue can be a good benefit mainly because the mean price for 1T is 20k credits (gold, for example) and dark blue means 1k benefit per tonne. The thing is that if you buy gold at red and then sell gold at read on another system, you might get a benefit of 10k/T, but that's obviously quite difficult.

    Nice work!
I will implement some kind of cursor to show the status more accurately, that's a good idea. Thanks Senkoujin.

Good info on the profitability of missions! I'll have to consider this. Right now I'm trying to build a galactic empire of space stations. I can continue to provide the coordinates of some money-makers as I find them. Picture shows the current state of my "empire"

VBF's response is basically the standard to get started for sure! Also, keep in mind earnings will start to snowball once you get a larger ship and are able to keep a decent amount of cash on hand. Once you have enough cargo space and cash you will have the luxury of buying whenever you please and also hanging on to cargo until you find the best deal to sell.

I have the 401 cargo slot ship and it is pretty much at least half full at all times. I have hung onto some cargo for days in real time until I find that perfect deal.

How do you guys keep track of systems with good prices? Do you keep a spread sheet?

And is there a way to plot a course to a system? With so many systems, just scanning around to find the one you want would be luck.
