Settings Going to play with the settings a bit more. I turned cockpit transparency on and combat didn't feel that good anymore. It looks like this setting will affect your laser fire rate. Not really a surprise, the iPad has to work more. But it seems and this could just be me, that while the fire rate is slower with transparency on, the weapon heating rate is not affected. This results in less shots fired before overheating. Can anyone confirm or am I delusional? I'm on the first generation iPad Air.
On an iPhone 4S: antialiasing on, transparency on, cockpit transparency on: 13 shots before overheating. All the above off: 13 shots before overheating too. It was a quick test. I'll try to do the same test pursuing a ship to see if it happens the same. I own a 4S and an iPad 3, and this game performs much better on the 4S. I guess it's because of the total pixels each screen has. When my 4S breaks, I'll probably go for a SE, in which I guess the performance of Stellar Horizon will be amazing. EDIT: I've done a more in-depth test and you're partially right: space battles suffer a lot of framerate drop with transparencies on. Nonetheless, the amount of shots until overheat are the same in all the cases. I guess that the slowdown in shots that you perceive is due to the framerate drop, but not to a reduction of shots in itself. In the end, the only thing I can set to "on" without suffering framerate drops anywhere is anti-aliasing. The rest of the option are as the "auto detect" option sets them for me.
For those of you wanting to backup your savegame, you can do so through iTunes file sharing. Just select Stellar Horizon and the two archives to save are stellarHorizon.sav and stellarHorizonHisto.sav. Save them to your PC/Mac for a backup!
Thanks Vbf! I forgot to explain that in the next update guide. For info, i'm currently implementing scientific missions (collect water/vegetation samples), as suggested precedently by JasonLL. I'm trying to make dogfights more challenging too.
Heck yes. It's the only game I've had my sights on for months. Pre-ordered and all, which is something I rarely ever do. In fact, that's precisely why I'm in this thread; the game looked like NMS
Thanks a lot! Look where it is regarding my position... I'll pay it a visit while going towards the legendary system you can see near it I've read an article recently in another known videogames webpage stating that an upcoming game from Crescent Moon is the only thing similar to No Man's Sky on mobile. While reading it I thought "Marsaults should really try and get in touch with this page to see if they want to review his game". There are obvious differences, but AFAIK it's the only real (and very good!) alternative to NMS in the App Store at the moment...
Hey Marsaults, an idea here for future updates (I don't know if a stupid idea or not...). I was thinking that one cool feature could be looking around in a planet position. I don't know how feasible it is to implement that. I was thinking: My 4S has a screen size (horizontal orientation) of 960x640, which I guess it's the size of the loaded picture in a planet every time you move. Instead of loading such image, you could load an image of 1440x960 pixels (50% more size) and center the view, and touch the screen to move around that image. My concerns with this are: - How would it impact the loading speed of planet surfaces, specially on iPads and devices with enormous screens that need many more pixels calculated. On my iPad 3 the game is much slower than on the 4S, and some people here have commented that planet surfaces take their time to load on iPads. - You'd have to implement a "UI on/off" button, since you'd be using the screen to move around the fixed image of the planet. As I said before, just an idea. In any case, I'd prefer other features (such as the "collect samples from planets" suggested by JasonLL the other day) have priority over mine, since it's just aesthetical. As always, thanks a lot for your work in this game!
No problem! I'll continue to pass along coordinates as I find good stations. Currently I'm in an area with tech level 21-23 planets, maybe some good prospects here. What is that crescent moon game called?
It's called Morphite, and it actually looks quite good. We'll see how the final game comes out (and if it works on my potato 4S... ). PM'd you the link to the news article.
Another station for VBF. Cost about 17 million About $125K daily income. I love these kind of games where the goals are what you make them. My next goal is to acquire enough space stations to put my daily income over $1,000,000. Right now I have 15 stations giving me a daily income of $792,549. I'm still in the same area where I got the last two stations. Tech level 21-23. Hopefully I'll find a few more stations for sale. On another note that Morphite game looks like it is another game that is right up my alley. So in case anyone cares my current iOS gaming list goes like this Exploration/trading. Stellar Horizon Space Exploring/shoot crap/more structured. Galaxy on fire 2 Dungeon crawl Legend of Grimrock RPG. Baldurs gate, icewind dale series, shadow run, spiderweb software RPGs are awesome old school type games. Strategy. Foursaken media games and the room 2 Later...
Update is live. The new sonar-like graphic effect is very cool, I like it much more than the previous one. I'm doing a scientific water sample mission atm. Gathered 1 sample out of 3 required. Great addition that gives more variety to the game, and it makes you explore planets more to try and find the resources. Congrats!
Hi Vbf! your idea (panoramic view) seems great, i thought about a few times. But it will cost cpu time. Plus, i would have to modify 3d projection type when rendering the view (a cylindric projection i guess). Not trivial. But not excluded for the future. What would be possible more easily is to modify the focale (user parameter), in order to have a wider angle (user could see an [-90:90] degrees view for example). I have to think about it. Anyways, update 1.0.42 is in progress, with new ranks (scientist rank, and entrepreneur rank (corresponding to how many stations you own) )!
Daily income over 1 million! So, I got my daily income over 1 million. I now own 17 stations. Can't wait to try the new update. I think in my many hours of play I have only done 3 missions. Time to get started I guess... SCIENCE!
