Explorer ship So VBF mentioned it may be more likely to find the explorer ship on higher tech level stations. Is this a possibility? I'm currently in an area where the tech level is around [19] to [22]. Hopefully this make a difference. Once again, I want to thank marsaults in first making this game and then going above and beyond IMO to refine and improve the experience. Other developers should take a page from his operating procedure!
Hi Drh, and thanks again! Concerning the availability of the new big bang explorer, i really have to check how it works. Currently it is not very predictable, and not correlated to system levels. I plan to update this quickly. You may then have good chances to find it, provided you are in a high level system.
The Dark gods of the procedural universe generator are messing with me. They are not satisfied with me not getting the Big Bang explorer. They have to rub my face in it and say too f'ing bad bro! I just got attacked by some rebel ships and one of them was a Big Bang explorer! Dammit, I actually find a Big Bang explorer and I had to blow it up. Lol
Drh, i just submitted an update with a fix concerning ship availability. You will own the Big Bang Explorer very soon!
When there's water on the planet, you walk towards the water and when you get to it, the ship goes underwater automatically. You can't take off underwater though, so you have to move out of the water to leave the planet.
Lately I can't play the game. I start and I have tried six planets. All of those planets are surrounded by evil ships of numbers of at least 4. I try and shoot them but I cant even destroy one. I get hit once by one of their lasers and I eject.
I really like the cracking of the windshield as your ship gets damaged. I got jumped by 5 outlaw ships at once and let them damage me a bit to see what happened. Pretty cool to get a visual indicator of damage as opposed to just the shield bar. It seems a bit more immersive this way. No Big Bang explorer yet. Currently I'm in a sector with tech levels from 5 to 9. Of course prior to the last update I was in an area where the tech levels were about 24 to 29. More than 6000 LY from start planet now. Will send a post card at 10,000 LY. Big Bang explorer would help a lot right now. Anyway, I always have to fire this up and do "just a few more planets".
You should definitively go back to high level systems (>=20) : you are very likely to find the big bang explorer here now!
Stellar Horizon is still stellar!! Hello again marsaults, it has been quite some time since I posted here! I would like to personally thank you for ALL of your VERY HARD WORK AND DEDICATION to making Stellar Horizon one of the best space exploration games for mobile!! All of your updates are very much appreciated, and I've been keeping track! Planets now have vegetation, iPad landscape orientation issue fixed(!), spectrometer issues addressed, new star types, enhanced flight experience (angular rolls when closing in on a star), night vision, new ships, manual docking procedures (not easy to do though, lol), ability to submerge your ship into the liquid lakes/ponds on planets, enhanced settings, etc.!! marsaults, you are an excellent developer! The best part is that this game just keeps getting better and better with each update! Speaking of which, here's what I have to say about the recent update(s): The 'submarine' mode is pretty cool, and a nice addition to the game. The game still runs smoothly. ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS: -Please add some extra clarity to the Navigation Map ***Maybe you could consider adding a compass or marking our location with an arrow pointing to the direction we're facing on the map. I may want to go to a specific star/planet, but without knowing which direction I'm going, I might take the wrong path and get lost (there are sooo many stars/planets out there). So, maybe you can make the Navigation Map even more clear and easy to use/understand? I want to be able to pinpoint a destination on the Navigation Map, and then go there (in the right direction) without getting lost or taking the wrong path. -Maybe you can add some extra reward or feature for finding Monoliths? ***Perhaps Monoliths could hold the key to something else...maybe a portal to another dimension or some kind of time-space phenomena could occur. -Someone suggested Black Holes a while back; maybe they could be detected in space, but this implementation would probably require a new type of SPEED, a speed that is between SUPER and HYPER...because a Black Hole might be in a location that is not near any planet or star. If that is too complex, then maybe you could introduce Wormholes, which typically don't have a gravity well as strong as a black hole, so in this case, the wormhole could randomly spawn somewhere near the star we visit. ***What to do with Wormholes/Blackholes......well, the possibilities are endless, but to start off, maybe it could take our ship to an unknown destination, which may possibly be little to many light years away. Another idea would be to use the black hole/wormhole to take us to an alternate universe where things/stars/planets look very strange/different from those in the current universe....maybe you could add rare items/ships that could only be found in that universe. ****If you want, instead of the above suggestion, you could create a special engine or warp drive (for sale) that could allow wormhole travel to the "alternate/other" universe. -Aliens? From my suggestion a while back, maybe you could add alien life, but I'm pretty sure that you might already have something planned for this. Vegetation is a good start! BUG REPORTS: 1. There seems to be no more NEWS 2. The fine (for attacking certain ships) algorithm should be checked for accuracy. **BEFORE I updated to the current version, I had a HUGE fine....it seems that if I destroyed Imperial ships, the fine would increase exponentially. I had no choice but to defend myself every time I approached a planet because I would always get attacked by Imperial ships, so I had no choice but to destroy them.........unfortunately, you can't escape from battle. Due to the exponential increase in fines, j'accumulé plus de deux milliards. AFTER I updated to the current version, that number became negative; I then tried to press 'PAY' to see what would happen. It turns out that the negative amount became my cash, that's right--deux milliards négatif. Next, I tried to buy a commodity; I was able to purchase it, and then le montant d'argent négative est devenue positive. You can now call me "L'homme Stellar De La Bourgeoisie". xD
Welcome back Senkoujin! First, thanks for your kind words! I'm happy that you continue to enjoy Stellar Horizon after all this time! - more clarity to the navigation map: ok, i will try to add that - extra reward for finding monoliths: definitively, i plan to do that, i'm still searching for a good mechanism. But you may have given good ideas i could implement. - alien life : it is the most difficult to make, especially concerning their graphics and the fact that they surely have to be non static when you find them... i don't know how to do yet. But i don't reject the idea. - bug concerning news: i don't have this bug on my device, maybe other players may confirm? - bug concerning fine: fixed for the next release By the way, the next update is coming soon, with new contracts (not only delivery missions, you may now have to kill all rebels or imperials of given systems), and a new wide scale galaxy map!
Stellar Travel Thank you, marsaults! As for the alien life implementation, please take your time; I understand that this isn't an easy thing to create. I guess once most or nearly all of aspects of space travel is complete, you could finally brainstorm the alien life aspect. The current vegetation is still a beautiful addition. Now here's a follow-up to my last post: I've played more and visited other planets, then I checked the NEWS, and it came back! I guess that some days there is no news (more realistic, I suppose), hahaha! So the NEWS seems to be fine after all. Follow-up SUGGESTION: -In my previous post, I mentioned traveling to another universe via warp engine or special engine. ***NEW IDEA: Create a special warp engine that could allow hyper light speed travel to another universe. Special Warp Engine features: -Could be purchased and installed on mid-higher class ships (EAGLE MV-23 and higher) -Price could range from 20,000U to 50,000U depending on the station. -A new button "[L]" (Light Speed) could be added above the Hyperspace Jump "[H]" button. -To engage the warp engine, you must be not be locked-on to a star...you should face a black starless spot. 1. Engine will charge (with a different sound effect from the Hyperspace Jump) 2. When the charge is complete, your ship's speed will enter the fastest speed (light speed) Special Warp Engine LIGHT SPEED EFFECTS: -The effect could be an enhanced version of the Hyperspace Jump...maybe make the light of the stars stretch even longer, more lighting effects, and the obvious feeling that makes the player feel like he's traveling at light speed (faster than Hyperspace Jump). Also, enhanced futuristic flight/air logisitical sound effects would make this even better. Special Warp Engine Realism: -A new commodity "Warp Engine Fuel" could be added. ***Since finding these on uninhabited planets wouldn't make much sense, they could only be salvaged from destroyed/looted ships (Outlaws, Imperials, Rebels, and Commercial ships should all have a random chance of dropping the fuel). ****Since the next update will include mercenary/contract killing missions, there could be more opportunities to obtain more warp engine fuel....maybe even in some rare cases, contracts could offer a warp engine fuel reward as well. -This Warp Engine Fuel commodity could be available in some random stations, but the cost could be 10,000U or higher per available unit depending on market prices, this will make the fuel a "precious commodity" that could be either earned (random salvage drop) or bought (high price commodity). This will give us players some extra choices as well as extra incentive to play even longer. -The fuel required to power the warp engine for a one-way trip could be maybe 5 Warp Engine Fuel units each time. (So, if you don't have enough fuel to leave the current or other universe, you must collect more fuel first). NOTE: The BIG BANG EXPLORER should come with a warp engine pre-installed, as this ship is the most powerful as of right now....maybe you could even reduce the warp engine fuel cost to either 1 or 0 (unlimited use). ***Both universes will look significantly different (unique) from each other, giving the player a "Space Odyssey"-like feeling or experience. Not only this, but some items/commodities (or maybe even ships) could only be found in the current or other universe. ****As for Monoliths, to add more from my last post, maybe there can be a means of instant traveling between universes. Example: Event #1 - You find a monolith in Universe A Event #2 - You will be prompted to "ACCESS Monolith? (Y/N)" Event #3 - If YES (Y), then instantly teleport to a random planet in Universe B. (Note: Due to rarity of monoliths, it is very possible that this random planet will not have a monolith present) (Note2: Want to return to Universe A via monolith? Then access a monolith in Universe B) In this case, you could think of it as a free gateway if you don't have the warp engine (or not enough fuel), but monoliths are very rare, so travelers could possibly be stuck in the other universe until they find either find another planet with a monolith or buy and install a warp engine...give players a sense of "consequences for actions", like when you attack harmless commercial ships----the consequence is a fine. Using a monolith to teleport to another universe's planet without a warp engine could be treated as an interesting gamble. ^: If you have other plans for monoliths, then you can just forget about this monolith suggestion, haha. I'm sorry and I'm sorry for the long post, but this idea just popped up in my head, and I'm very excited to present it to you because I think it could also take this game to the next level. Travel first, aliens later. So, Mr. marsaults, do you think that this radical suggestion is a possibility?
Senkoujin, I've been too busy to play anything this week, but I've read your post. Man, you have great ideas. Hopefully Marsaults will be able to implement some/all of the things you mention.
Thanks Senkoujin for all these constructive ideas! I have to think about these promising possibilities. This may take some time!
Finally got the Big Bang explorer. Possible bug with lock on Well, Got my Big Bang explorer on a world at tech level 15. Marsaults can you test something for me? I have been plagued with losing my lock on a star system randomly the past few days. I did some testing and only one thing makes sense. When you are on the planet surface the lock button disappears but the active area is not disabled. This may tie into the "tap anywhere on the screen and the hud disappears" feature when on the planet. Please let me know if there is something to this or what else could be happening. Of course it could just be me...
New update Galaxy map Love the new galaxy map. I'm assuming one of the crosshairs is your start position and the other is your current position Which is which? Anyway, I'm 7500 LY out, it looks like it is a long way to the edge!
Red crosshair is your start position. One thing i'd like to add (and i'll try to fix it soon) : this map is a projection view on x and y axis only. And i know you travel almost exclusively on z axis, so that doesn't appear very well on your position... I will find a solution, maybe add a z-axis projection... One little question for everybody: would it be a good idea to make player pay for auto-dock procedure (to incent player to manually dock) ?
I like the idea of paying for auto-dock. It would be like a fee the space station charges for taking care of auto-landing.
