Thanks Marsaults! I love the look of the planets with grass. Will it be on all the planets, or randomly placed in some of them?
That sounds great. As for probability, well, probability of monoliths seems to be 13-15%, so maybe grass could be something around 20-25%... One out of four/five planets with grass sounds okay to me.
This game seems very unstable on my iPhone 6+. I've tried to play it three times now and it's crashed every single time. The first time it crashed before I even got to the space station. The second time a crash not going to the menus on the same space station, and the last time it crashed as I was leaving the space station. I've tried killing the app and restarting, and completely restarting my phone. I can't play it as it currently is, and I'm pretty frustrated.
An update was submitted yesterday, which may fix the bug on iphone 6+. It will be available in a few days i think.
If we're lucky, it'll be available by Friday. There must be someone in the Apple app approval team that loves this game, because every update until now has come out 48-72h after being submitted. Let's hope this trend continues.
Those new pictures look awesome! Can't wait for that to go live. The changes in combAt balance are really nice too! Battles are dangerous again, but I also seem to be doing an appropriate amount of damage. Last night I entered a system and two rebel ships jumped me at the same time. Within a minute three outlaw ships joined the battle. It got pretty hairy for a while with 5 on 1. This far out, you really need a good ship. This games setup is really great. It is really well suited for both short play sessions or more lengthy sessions. I play it both ways, 5-10 minutes here and there and then some longer 1 to 2 hour sessions when my wife is watching a crappy movie on tv. I put my headphones on and fly a spaceship.
One more request Hello, There is basically no return on investment in the last few ships as far as range goes. I have one more request. Can you add another ship with stupid long range? Maybe a ship with cargo space of 350 to 450 and a range of 50-100 LY? Make it cost 10 million so it is not a cakewalk to get perhaps.
I already have the Hawk Mk. II and 5m credits in the bank. Owning this ship makes trading very profitable if you fall on the right space station. 10m is very achievable now
I hear you on that! With a large capacity ship and cash you can buy whenever and whatever you want when you see a good deal. You also have the cargo capacity to hang on to your stuff until you hit another planet where you get a good deal selling it. I just saw a new update hit, can't wait to try it.
After latest update there's no change in stability. Crashes after approaching first station again. I'm able to get less than 20 seconds into the game before crashing on my 6+.
Bad news. But after having investigated the code, i found a clue which may lead to a quick fick i hope. I will submit an update quickly to try to solve this iphone 6+ issue. Edit: update 1.0.23 just submitted.
Finally decided to get this. Seems like a nice, relaxing time waster, flying aimlessly around in space and exploring planets. Just curious, how does the whole "4 billion unique star systems" work when the install size is only 33 MB?
Randomization. Generate random names and surfaces using mathematical formulas. There's no pre-rendered images of the planets, surfaces are generated on the go. I can't remember the name of the graphics now. I think these ones are fractals, but I'm not sure. Anyway, check this to know more: http://paulbourke.net/fractals/noise/ The way graphics are implemented is the reason why the game plays much better on an iPhone 4S than on an iPad 3. Since it renders each planet surface on real time, it has to draw every single pixel in every planetary move when exploring planets. Although the iPad 3 is a bit more powerful and has more RAM than the 4S, since it also has a ton more pixels on screen than the 4S, the phone finishes drawing/calculating the planet's surface much earlier.
