Maursalts, here is a suggestion for the future: I kept my eye on this game for a while. When the update came out that you could explore planets, I immediatly bought it. So, as you can infer, planetary exploration is my favourite part of the game. Some suggestions that you could add in the future are: -Different biomes -Weather -Life such as trees and plants -Possibly villages I understand these suggestions are difficult to do, and you have been working so hard already. But eventually, I would like you to put these ideas into consideration. Thanks again Maursalts. (By the way, I have told all my friends about Stellar Horizon and how awesome it is!!)
Thanks for explaining that! I guess I'll just start a new game and watch out for what color the other ships are. I've always been more an Alien-kina guy as opposed to a Halo-type guy. I love exploration and mining, but really looking for confrontation! Haha. Anyway, can't wait to begin anew.
It's funny. but during one of my games I thought that rain had been introduced in the game because there was this space debris effect when you're travelling fast, but it was present in the planet. Unfortunately it was just the first symptom of the bug that was abound to happen: as soon as I took off the planet, the HUD was missing several buttons, and in the end I had to force-close and quit the game. Luckily for me, since it was just after leaving the planet, the game had saved for me. My wild guess is that it was a low-memory issue of my 4S, that's why I haven't given it much importance. It has happened only once, and I've played A LOT since the update hit, so it's not that important. In any case, I'd also love weather effects on planets.
Mmmm, how can the game perform much, much better on my 4s than on my iPad3? My guess is the amount of pixels to be drawn on each of the screens: the 4s is less powerful than the iPad3, but since it has less pixels to draw onscreen, it can possibly process drawing faster. In any case, I'll continue playing on the 4s, since it's much more fluid.
I agree with both points here for sure! I'm now at 8 hrs 15 minutes and have 1,117,785 in the bank. I found a two planet route that gets me about 100k profit per round trip using the ship with 43 cargo slots. One direction netted me about 20k, the return netted me about 80k. It involves buying and selling VERY expensive items. If I would buy the biggest ship I could afford, I wouldn't have the cash needed to do the trade route. Nice problem to have! Edit: I just noticed the trader rank ELITE popped up, yeah!
Trade route I'm pretty sure I read the universe is the same for everyone, hope so... ZEVEGE. At location. 183.-377.970. Galaxy sector. 5.-12.30. This is about 100 LY from the start system. No idea what these numbers mean yet lol! So I do a ZEVEGE to APCIAS run. ZEVEGE. Buy Indite, Lepidolite, microbial furnaces and sell to APCIAS APCIAS. Buy Berylium, Platinum, synthetic fabrics, Algae, Artificial meat and sell to ZEVEGE. This only works if prices are not randomized in the game. Also, buying the stock at APCIAS requires over 400k cash. I got up to about 1.3 million In The bank and then bought the Cougar XM ship, this wiped out over half of my money, but 20 minutes later I am almost back up at 1.3 million again.
Yeap, I think the universe is the same, but the randomized part is where you begin if you choose "random". I guess we both chose the standard game, so I'll check if I've discovered any of those planets in my next game thanks for the heads up. I think prices are not randomized, but they belong to each system permanently. I'm not 100% sure though.
Just happened upon this game this morning. I'm addicted, only 45 minutes in. This is just perfect for a noob like me. Thanks for your work devs!
I think it's just "dev", and a busy one. In any case, I agree with you. It's also great for quick play sessions... But that "just one more planet" feeling makes sessions last hours
Yeah, I started the standard game. My plan is to get the biggest ship, best weapon, a couple of million in the bank and then choose a direction at random. I will go at least 1000 LY in one direction and set up shop a while and do missions, max out all stats. Maybe then another 1000-2000 LY or more further out. I wonder exactly how big the universe is, maybe the procedural generation starts to get weird REALLY far out. Addicting for sure...
Heh, Just one more planet... Famous last words. Basically about as true as " hey, this should be straightforward" Edit: Hey SMarsault, You know what would be really cool? Since we have the option for a standard game and a random planet start game it would be nice if we had a save slot for each.
Wow, just read through this post. Just to answer any random post is cool from a dev but to hone it in to the game is great. I currently just want to play more. Very informative group here. Thx, again!
Well, the description says 4 billion, which is 4,000,000,000 stars to visit. I'll try, but I think I won't have enough life to visit all the stars and systems One "cheat" I've found is that a given market in a given space station is always the same. this means that if there's 6t of a great low-price resource on a space station and you buy those 6t, exit the space station, land on the planet, launch to save and exit the game, when you reload the game and land again on the space station, you'll have your 6t of bought resources, but the space station will have another 6t of that low-price resource for you to buy again Something that I find unfair is that even though here 10 of us have given a score to the game with a 5-star average, the App Store rating seems to be of just 2.5 stars. I left a 5-star review in the Spanish App Store for the last release. I hope it helps increase sales, although I understand this is a niche game which won't suit everyone. Btw, the pic is of a random planet while landing on its surface (you can move the camera while landing )
The universe is the same. The "random" part is about the start system only, so it is still in the same universe. Everybody can discover the same systems! You are right, prices are not randomized. I may add a random component on prices. Cool! I'm glad you enjoy it! I've never tested the limits of Stellar Horizon universe. Don't forget to tell us what you discover! Added on my todo list. Ok, i have to fix this "cheat" method, and the bug concerning the planet view while landing. Thanks! I think the App Store rating has been impacted by the several crashes which were present in the first releases. But you are true: it is a niche game.
The game has improved A LOT since the first release, so a huge THANK YOU from my side. Fixing the bugs/cheats is great, and I agree that a random component on prices would be great too.
Simple market economies would be fantastic, but I'll take random over static. If I had to 'borrow' mechanics I'd take a look at Trailblazer or High Seas (which was even simpler, but had some exploitability problems...) If our gracious developer is interested, I could probably scan and provide the rules for these. I think with this game's scope, you'd want to only track economies for stations visited, and probably 'forget' the data for systems once you've moved far enough away from them (which would be regenerated when you returned again) so you didn't have to store a database of market values that just continues to grow...
Would you also someday consider these things on planetary exploration: -Weather (rain, snow (on snow planets), lightning) -Different Biomes (so the planet is not the same. It gives exploration even more of a point when you know the planets topography and color could change) -Life forms like trees and plants -Villages. These worlds have millions of people living on them yet when you explore, it seemed like barren land. But then again, I love the exploring aspect of the game and at the moment, Planet Exploration is great. Just consider these suggestions for the future.
Great game. I like the villages/cities ides. Perhaps you learn of a planet with an advantages trading situation when scanning a village.
You are free to submit new ideas concerning market economies, thanks! I may consider them. For the moment , i plan to track near systems markets to ensure these markets keep an history of what the player has bought or sold on such systems: the player would be forced to wait in case of exhausted commodities. I will consider these suggestions. By the way, update 1.0.17 is submitted. It will feature: - scan screen fixed - "dock" message fixed when approaching a station - known systems are highlighted in pending contracts - bug during landing fixed - by default, distance horizon is set to high (see settings) - sound effects: hyper jump start, hyper jump stop, sonar, and station ambiance
