From the new batch of games I started with INMOST and couldn't be happier. It's a masterpiece. Stela has to wait. agreen437 Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2014 1,701 222 63 #5 agreen437, Oct 11, 2019 Hey guys anyone noticed slight graphics on older devices I’m using an iPad Pro 2017 and right off the bat I noticed jagged edges is this normal agreen437 Well-Known Member Jun 12, 2014 1,701 222 63 #6 agreen437, Oct 11, 2019 I also contacted the developer as well MetaGonzo Well-Known Member May 7, 2009 1,459 271 83 #7 MetaGonzo, Oct 11, 2019 Ooh. Getting some INSIDE vibes here. Splendid. Maslan266 Well-Known Member Oct 14, 2017 397 56 28 #8 Maslan266, Oct 11, 2019 This is way too much like INSIDE. The writing of the names is the same, the controls are the same, the graphics are similar (though this is more brown than black & grey), the locations and scenes in the beginning are a ripoff, the way the game starts is like INSIDE, there are chase scenes like INSIDE, the level select screen is like INSIDE, the control instructions screen is like INSIDE...like wha Ringerill and weipeng like this. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #9 stubbieoz, Oct 11, 2019 The tap controls feel really sluggish. Stranded87 Well-Known Member Sep 18, 2009 132 14 18 #10 Stranded87, Oct 12, 2019 I was worried this might be the case just from the trailer. It looked not so much influenced by Inside as a near ripoff. Think I'll give this a miss for now, at least until there are some proper reviews, I have too much stuff to play as it is. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #11 macplash, Oct 12, 2019 Well, it might sounds weird, but I never had a chance to play Inside. I played Limbo multiple times, but never got my hands on Inside. In retrospect, I can't even come up with a reason why. So, under these circumstances I suspect I might be able to enjoy Stela more than the rest of you, considering the game has the same quality as its predecessor. I finished INMOST, so there's nothing holding me back from going for Stela right now. Maslan266 Well-Known Member Oct 14, 2017 397 56 28 #12 Maslan266, Oct 12, 2019 I mean it’s not bad, it’s actually well made general (I’ve played for about an hour or so) but I personally found INSIDE better. I found it more engaging and creepier because of the black and grey visuals and it was more original. The fact that this is pretty much a clone (I mean, there was literally a cornfield and a barn in the beginning) is holding me back from enjoying it more. If you haven’t played INSIDE yet then yeah you’re going to enjoy Stela much more. Bottom line: if you have played INSIDE and want something similar, Stela is the closest you’re going to get. But I recommend checking out INSIDE first. Check out AppUnwrapper’s video, as she explains it better than me. (I’m going to continue playing and see if it does anything unique. I saw snow and fire in the trailer?) weipeng likes this. macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #13 macplash, Oct 12, 2019 Jeez man, App Unwrapper is a guy.. Inside is also great, loved it a lot, but I can`t understand why anyone would complain about the similarities? I think Playdead is not the only company that must have monopoly on this ”genre”.... The atmosphere is spot on, and in some cases better here than in Inside. Both games are MUST play in my opinion. The question for me is not whether the game is similar to Inside (which I loved, too) but what else does it bring to the table. If it’s basically a rethread, then yeah, that’s an issue. From what I’ve seen on videos, though, it seems like a there’s more to Stela than that. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #16 psj3809, Oct 12, 2019 I don’t mind if it’s an homage or even a light clone. If I like a game I like more of the same. Bit like platformers. I get a few steps before being swarmed by rats(?) and there’s no indication what I could do differently. They could have given some more time to get used to the controls before ramping up the difficulty. This game is beautiful but I’m on the verge of deleting it. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,715 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #18 squarezero, Oct 13, 2019 For what it’s worth, Inside is just as brutal. Barak Well-Known Member Mar 13, 2010 230 4 18 Portland, OR #19 Barak, Oct 13, 2019 Not a big fan... I only played the demo of Inside but this is freakishly similar in so many ways that I came here to see if anyone else noticed. I am pretty far into it and the levels are... alright. For side scrolling puzzle games, INMOST was far superior, IMO. If I paid $4.99 for each, I would feel like I wasted my money on this one... thanks to Apple Arcade though I can enjoy them both guilt free! macplash Well-Known Member Apr 17, 2014 2,645 1,103 113 Male 3D artist Munich, Germany #20 macplash, Oct 13, 2019 I feel the same TBH. I'm past that swarm of bugs (they're not rats fyi) but it took me a lot of attempts to progress. What I realized is Spoiler the red stripe on things is an indicator what to do, at least it seems in the beginning. Am I right? The difficulty feels unnecessary high, especially so early in the game. Might frustrate a lot of potential players, scare them even. I put it off after like 30 minutes. But I'm not quitting on it just yet. I'll definitely give it another go. But there's the difference between Stela and INMOST for example. While I have to almost force myself to find a solution in the first one, the ladder just grabbed me and kept me interested the whole time, effortlessly. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
