Hi there! There's no such list, really. We had that at one point in development, but we found that external testers that we monitored went for the same kinds of choices. Actually, I think the list was a hindrance - choices even depend on if the abilities have been named in cool ways. SteamWorld Heist is balanced in a good way, so all characters are different but similar in "strength". You can also see what class they belong to (Vantage, Tank, etc) by reading about them in the Characters roster in the Options section. Cheers!
Awesome, you guys rock, and your games rock too. I purchased Dig on my Vita, great great game, and now this one, I'm having a blast. Can't wait to play it on ipad, hope it won't take too long to implement iCloud.
You are right all seem good and balanced it's just preference of what you like it seems and that's how I've been doing it. I did find a list too of abilities so it did help a little in deciding if it's worth using one for if I can see myself liking the play style. http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/844407-steamworld-heist/73047362
You're not in any imminent danger anyway! xD See earlier posts in this thread, we're checking out other "complex" platformers on iOS now to get ideas on how to make it as palatable as possible. Then there's the eternal resource/capacity struggle at the office. Seems like we're doomed to be forever swamped. But yes, we're looking into it!
So hooked on this game. I only have a few critiques. On the iphone version, I feel like the font could be a bit larger. Even the main menu buttons are so small that I'm often hitting the wrong button (and I have tiny fingers). The same goes for the buttons inside the game menu (like inventory, etc.). I wish they were 50% bigger or so. Also, is there a way to equip characters on the home ship? Sometimes I want to put all my new equipment on that I just bought or received, have a look at my new setups, or check out how a new hat looks and I have to go out to a map battle to equip (or go into battle to see a hat). Going to the map also requires running to the navigation console which takes up more time. This is a bit bothersome so I wish there was an equip screen in the home ship or better yet next to the inventory button unless I'm missing something.
Guys - I guess I'm kinda bad at this game. I'm stuck on the boss of the first area - i have no credits because I lose so much each time I fail the mission Using Piper, Ivan, and Sally.. all are around level 3. Playing on Experienced difficulty. Do I just need to grind earlier levels? Or does anyone have any general gameplay tips for me? Thanks.
Lower the difficulty? If you're having trouble and can't win don't play on "experienced". There's five difficulty levels for a reason.
This game is bloody brilliant! Even the music rocks - best in-game tunes since Bastion, I reckon. If SteamWorld Dig is anywhere near as good (and yes, I know it's a completely different type of game), I am in!
Have you tried looking at let's plays of the game? They could be helpful. I don't remember much about the first area's boss, but I am sure that he is way easier than the next bosses. The difficulty spikes are high in the next areas. Before you grind or lower your difficulty, try to improve your skills. I am not an expert but I've finished the game on Experienced (although not fully experienced, because I dialed down the difficulty during the second boss, and didn't complete one level with three stars). 1. Full covers are good but don't forget to look up and down those covers. If you are on a penetrable platform instead of the solid ones, enemies can shoot you eventhoigh you are behind covers. 2. Take those skill/ricochet shots when you know that normal shots won't suffice. At least you can do something on your turns; or move, if that is better. 3. Take the epic swags before entering the boss area; I've repeated the first boss twice because of that mistake. 4. If you continuously lose gallons because of lost fights, buy stuff. You'll cut your losses that way. I prefer buying the storage upgrades (the box) because you can find better utilities and weapons in your swags as you play the game and no need for the shop that much. 5. Complete all levels with 3 stars before fighting the boss. It is a good way to practise your skills, get gallons, and level up your characters. 6. Learn the combos of your characters. I am only familiar with Sally's Mad Dog + Piper's Inspired. If all else fails, there are advice from others that are better. Or lower your difficulty and try the fight again on higher difficulties once you get the hang of the game.
Nice, thanks. For anyone not yet played Steamworld Dig this is fantastic news. Instabuy if it comes to mobile.
I had the same observation: too many touches needed to manage gear/chars, which isn't a huge issues, but with everything else in the game being so intuitive, gear management feels clunky.
Love this game so much I'm 5 hours in on experienced difficulty but the funny thing I have only done 3 missions I just been replaying over and over the same levels cause it's so much fun. Just need iCloud and im the happiest.
Has anyone on a 6+ tried using the stock iOS zoom functionality to zoom in on the line of sight of their aim to help with getting perfect shots? (I don't know if ip6 has zoom?). I've tried it, and I'm pretty sure it helps, though obviously it's a fair bit of a cheat.
How long is the story in the game? Becoming worried that I may complete it soon, without putting spoilers in I'm near the end of the second zone it seems. I know I can repeate missions and likely will as it's still fun and they are randomly generated but I like following the campaign. I like finding new awesome weapons but it seems just progressing further does that better than repeating missions.
