The lone mac users stands alone with envy. Guess I'll just rent a couple games for my 360 or somethin'
Three of my PCs broke down. One literally got cracks from the heat it gave off. I'm pissed. Gots me a Mac. I'm happy. 'Cept when this happens.
Since when is that a bad thing? Dungeon Runners was awesome; I sank way too many hours into that game when it was alive.
What is there not to like about Steam? It's the closest thing to a perfect digital content delivery system I've seen. I wish I could buy everything through Steam instead of just PC games. (In fact, if a PC game isn't on Steam, I don't buy it.)
I don't use Steam simply because there's no point in having to run extra stuff just to get to my games. I wouldn't watch my movies through an IMDB client.
The point is never needing to deal with physical media ever and having every game you own along with every CDKey tied to a single login that you can use on any computer to download, install, and play any game you own. If an IMDB client allowed me to watch every DVD in my collection from anywhere with a single login and password I'd be all over that too.
Steam rules... I made an account back in 2004 and forgot about it, went to make a account in 2008 and holy crap!!! Every game I had purchased was still there for me! After this, I now buy all my games through steam, it just makes it easier to move your game library between PC's. Plus if I go to a friends and don't have a PC I can still login and D/L my games onto his PC
I'd say it's worth the $15 you might get back. While some games may hold their value pretty well, some plummet after a month. Not to mention you're probably losing an activation code.
Oh wow. Orange Box on sale for $15 now. That's Team Fortress 2, Half life 2, Half Life 2 episodes 1 and 2, and Portal.
I prefer physical media. If you ask me, having to install files is a step backwards, it's a waste of HDD space better used for other purposes. The reason I've always preferred console gaming is that there's no setup, you put the disc in and it just works (although PS3 kinda killed that with mandatory installations). I've often thought more time should be spent on developing media that would allow us to play PC games direct from the disc without having to put up with the mess of thousands of files and folders cluttering up the place. It's the gaming equivalent of having to assemble a car from scratch when you buy it. All that aside, I just enjoy having a physical collection. My wall is covered floor to ceiling with DVD cases and although some might say that's a mess, to me it's merely a sign that I have a hobby.
