So I am coming to you all in need of some help. I am on a pretty fast network where I live now, I recently just got a fiber optics network for my home. My regular download speeds reach somewhere around 15.5 Megabytes per second, now when trying to download a game through the mac steam client (left4dead 2) my download speed is only in between 200-500Kb/s which is A LOT lower than my regular download speeds through a browser, or other programs. Do you guys know of any way to allow steam to download at the maximum speeds available? I'm on a wifi network, as well as hardline (Ethernet cable). I have tried everything to get the wifi speeds and hardline speeds to increase but to no avail. Thanks for any help you can provide. Some basic info: Location: NY, Albany. I went into preferences and chose NY server, and Fiber Optics 10M under Steam preferances. Are there any servers that are better?
That's pretty awesome, considering Steam usually gives 150 kb/s max. It's server-side-- nothing to do with your connection. It also depends on your location. p.s.: add me on Steam and let's play L4D? http://steamcommunity.com/id/changc/home
