Is it reverting to the analogue controls? Is it happening when you start a level with analogue controls, switch to buttons and then die? Or something else? Cheers, by the way.
What you are doing wrong is moving your finger an inch. Just place your thumb on the screen at the center of the virtual stick. A slight rock to the left or right will move the character. There is no need to swipe. There is no need to even lift your finger at all . Just a slight rock let or right, the same as you would with any physical control stick on a game pad, is more then enough to move te character at full speed with a pretty tight degree of accuracy. As others mentioned you could also use the new control scheme with left/right buttons. A lot of people seem to enjoy this system though I personally feel it it is inferior to the virtual stick. To each their own, I hope one of these options sorts you out.
Has happened a few times on 2-3. I start the level with analog, pause, switch to virtual buttons in options, resume, and die in the level. When I respawn, the virtual buttons are gone and the analog controls are back. Using a 5th gen iPod Touch running 7.0.4, non-JB.
OK, that's a peculiarity of GameMaker's save state system. It stores a point in time, and returns to that point when it reloads a checkpoint. If you changed your controls after a checkpoint and then die, it'll load them back as they were. I've put a few fixes in for the sound before now, but it's a bit like time travel I'll see what I can do for the buttons. In the meantime, if you change the options in the main menu, then it will always remember those settings (because you start a level with them as you want them). You should have no trouble then.
Spot on. I'd like to be able to communicate this to players who are having trouble, but not sure of the best way atm. Probably should put more details in the start splash screen. EDIT: Would be curious to know how you find it after reading this, Breinstein.
I start the level with the buttons, but when I die, it goes back to the analouge controls. I believe that also happened when I started the level with the analouge controls, switched to buttons and died
I'm not seeing a way to create levels. Am I just blind or is it not possible. I bought the iap thinking that I would be able to make my own levels. If you can't create levels, where are all these coming from?
I prefer the virtual button setup as it is easier to make small adjustments. However, to the devs, I think the buttons could be implemented a bit better: the left button should stretch until the very edge of the left side of the screen and the right button until about half the screen to the right. Both can also be stretched all the way to the bottom of the screen as well. it would make them easier to press as I've seen this done with other games. Otherwise, enjoying the game!
Gosh! These puzzles are great! I've played all the way to 4-5 in the past 2 days and this is the number 1 played game on my iPod right now! Awesome job! Now all we need is the editor....
That Gazoid guy is a beast at making levels, I beat his "lazerlink" and "lightmix" if you have the iap, definetely play those 2
onebitbeyond: can the virtual buttons be bigger? "Icycle: On Thin Ice" is a good place to look at, very easy to hit the left/right directional buttons there whereas in "Stealth Inc" I miss them sometimes. As I said in my previous post above, I feel they should stretch until the edge of the screen. That is key.
I feel the same. The buttons feel small to the iPad screen and sometimes I die because I miss them. I wish they were bigger or I could resize and move them, like in Rockstar's games.
