Hello -- after what seems like a long time just lurking and reading, this is my first post on the Touch Arcade forums. I'm really excited to join this great community, and to do so by opening up a thread where to share information about the game that we're working on and hopefully get some feedback. We're a three-man team targeting early 2015 for release with a cyberpunk-themed tactical shooter. The game is called Static Sky, and it is still really early in development, but things have been moving quite quickly -- these screenshots are the status of the game after about 3 weeks of development. I'll try to keep this thread updated when new things are going on and to answer any questions that come up. Anyway -- super excited to be here!
It has been awhile, so I thought I should update this thread with some work-in-progress environment screenshots from the first level of the game:
Definitely - hacking is a prominent gameplay mechanic. You play as the remote operator for your squad and you can have your guys patch you into terminals where you can effectively rewire things in the game.
Thanks Candykiller. Also, since I suspect that more than a few people reading this on Touch Arcade might be game developers: We have been maintaining a development blog with details on our progress at http://framebunker.com
@steviebwoy - nope, it's realtime, but with a slo-mo effect you can turn on so you have better time to issue orders (and for general awesome)
We've been bad at keeping our development blog up to date, and even worse about forum threads… but today we uploaded some video clips of pre-alpha footage… Edit: Thanks, Candykiller
Real Time Shadowrun, count me intersted for this. I love the concept. It's going to have character customization?
@Jayburner - well, a 3rd guy joined us, so ;-) But seriously, thanks! @TheOutlander - yes. Not to the degree you would find in, for example, an RPG, because that doesn't really work for the game, but customizing your squad through abilities and equipment is an important part of the game. @Nullzone - Thanks. I'll try to do better about keeping this thread updated, especially when it comes to future updates about gameplay, so that you can get a feel for how it being realtime affects tactical aspects of gameplay.
I am utterly flabbergasted that this is the first time I've seen this. This looks frickin amazing to say the least! The environments look absolutely fantastic, you really captured the cyberpunk feel. I'm pumped to see more, everything looks super great so far guys, keep up the good work And this made me think of Syndicate more than Blade Runner, but I can see Shadowrun too.
Thanks for reminding me of Syndicate, that was a hell lot of fun back in the day, I really didn't remembred it 'cause the average FPS that EA threw, definitely picking this up as soon as it releases. BTW: Thanks for the response devs, I really appreciate when devs read the forums and respond, I'm now really excited for Static Sky
