What's Eidolon build and support look like? I guess it's coming after Duke, which is after Captain.

And Eidolon is last one before Super Carriers I suppose?

Eidolon is lvl 45, there's duke and sleipnir between it and captain. Funny thing is that captain is way better than any of those ships that come after it before supercarriers. I haven't found any build with eidolon that could beat any of the supercarriers whereas with captain I win around 30-40 of the fights and rest of the time get enough damage to get 30-50k credits at least.

Well the Captain does look pretty tough with the pointed nose and easy to armor sides Even with only 1 javelin support that should be big enough to fit a decent amount of guns in it. I am still trying to get used to the crusader. Its wierd shape is giving me problems xd.

Does someone know how player rating works before it starts to drop from losses? A friend of mine started playing, and her rating doesn't always go up after winning. A loss won't lower the rating, but 2 losses / 2 wins might not raise it either. I guess I didn't pay that much attention to it when I started playing.

I'd like to know too. In most cases when I've waited for the results page to play out, I notice a +1 / -1 for a win / loss respectively.

However, I'm sure I've noticed my rating go up by 2 a few times.

Would like to see more info on the leaderboard too. Am curious what other players' win/loss ratio is and number of battles they've had. I'm confused (but happy) to be 23rd position... with 1246 wins versus 1421 losses. With a win/loss ratio below 1, would be interesting to see stats of those above and below me.

Just a general crave for more info / stats for this game. Hoping there's some nice updates and tweaks coming this year.

I'm hovering around 1060 rating comfortably in the second place of the ladder with 1324 wins and 1162 losses. Right now I can't really rise higher as after 1060 rating most of the ships I face are Revenants and Vindicators which I just can't beat with 3/5 of my ships. My current ships are 2x Captain, 1 Eidolon, 1 Thane and 1 Revenant. Soon got enough credits for another L50 ship but dunno yet if i'll replace the Eidolon or buy another slot with celestium.

@Ribatzki: I've noticed a couple of minor bugs after hitting level cap:

-Info text for Mjollnir and Revenant have wrong amount of supports stated (both have 1 more than what the text says)
-Trying to access the player info screen results in the game crashing.

Btw Curath if you read this would you mind letting me know how you got the Training Drone ship? I unlocked it at L50 but cant find it in any ship categories...

Umm.. I don't have any idea on training drones. I'm at level 49 and my four ships are Thane, Eidolon, 2x Captain. Have you seen me attack with a ship named like that, or actually artacked and seen a training drone in action? Anyway, that's weird.

    And more on player rating:
I've seen my friend go up in rating with one win, but the next battle that was also a victory didn't result in +1 rating. If the reason is that the enemy had too low rating to "be a challenge", why does matchmaking give such opponents during a win streak?

Well that indeed is weird then. I've been attacked by supposedly your Training Drone a couple of times past week. So seems there's something fishy with the defense fights..

You've certainly got a ton of matches played. My current stats are 1288 wins / 1044 losses, and I've been hovering around the 5th place recently. Still haven't reached level 50, but it doesn't matter anyway since I still need much more credits to actually upgrade my ships.

Getting +2 rating from a single match means you've got an ongoing winning streak, and it resets from the first loss.

    Hey all!

Back with some news and answers.

You can gain rating from a victory against a ship that is not too much below your own rating. As Mythago pointed out, a longer winstreak starts yielding more rating per victory, but this bonus resets upon a loss.

The training drone is a textfield bug where the game draws a wrong name for an attacking ship when two ships share the same level requirement. The training drone is a "hidden" ship used only in the beginning of the tutorial, and the quick hax of giving it a level XX requirement to prevent players from getting it confused the game with other high-end ship names.

Some balance changes have been put online today. You'll notice shields are slightly less effective and energy-costly, lasers are a tiny fraction less powerful, and the Hyperion Chaingun shouldn't kick your ship into a recoil spin anymore. Not that badly, at least. Also the engineer who empties your ship shouldn't appear anymore. Another method for gaining Celestium in-game is on the way with an update coming very, very soon.

The Captain does indeed seem a very powerful ship for its level. I try to follow the win/loss ratios of individual ship types through the game, but none have stood out too badly yet. I'll continue to keep an eye on this one though.

Ships you win a battle with may be placed into the matchmaking system at your rating with a certain small percentage chance. This means some of your older ships may remain in the system, but as people play past them, the likelihood of their replacement grows quickly.

The exact duration for the daily mission reset is a secret :) It's meant to be doable roughly once a day, whether you get online in the evening or morning.

Our devs' fleets on the fleet arena, especially at higher levels, may be quite overkill. I'll look into tuning down what we throw in there.

Changes to the camera system in the build screen are unlikely to happen. The screen is stuffed as it is on smaller devices :-(

Our upcoming update will feature a lot of really awesome new features and changes. Most notably we're adding in an option to purchase modifications to your existing ships, so you can slightly expand your favorite ship type, prolonging its valid lifespan. Instead of the engineer ruthlessly emptying your ship, you'll have an option to "sell" the design of your ship when you feel like a rebuild, so it's going to be up to you. Also including a vast host of bugfixes.

And to conclude, I'm really happy to see you people climb the leaderboards and try out extraordinary new builds. Hoping for a good (and victorious) new year for all!

That's awesome news. I was thinking about suggesting a similar thing but for modules. It would work as a nice endgame moneysink if you could purchase minor but relatively expensive improvements for different modules. The ship upgrades didnt even cross my mind but they sound pretty great.

Also nice to heat you're working on balance improvements. I know the shields are a problem in early/midgame but in the endgame it seems lasers are already non-existant so you might have to look into other tweaks to balance that part of the game as well. Also I'm starting to think that capital cannon might need a bit of toning down as right now the damage combined with the piercing ability seems a bit too powerful. Warp to the side, blast capital cannons and you might one-shot enemy reactors even if they're behind a layer of armor.

    Nice update!

I saw my ships just now not having enough power and freeked out for a moment, but then thought I better check the forum as it must be a tweak rather than me going mad!

New content sounds cool, can't wait!

Am sure I just won 10 battles in a row - first time ever. Currently rocking 2 Crusaders, 2 Barons and 1 Captain.

Possibly a good win streak due to the power consumption changes. I notice a lot of enemies flashing the power symbol so that was a little lean in my favour.

I guess the flip side is that my own ships that are saved on the server will have power shortage when controlled by the CPU, until they are replaced with my tweaked versions.

Of course I'm assuming the power changes have affected the enemy ships that are saved...rather than me becoming any better and rather than other people building ships without enough power! :)

Just noticed that the winstreak achievements are tied to rating increases rather than actual winstreaks. I got the last achievement I was missing (Godlike - 25 wins in a row) just now and I certainly didn't win 25 in a row but my rating went up by 25 because of the winstreak bonuses. Might want to fix this at some point if you want to have the achievements actually represent their titles and be hard to obtain.

More achievements would be good, and a small reward (or big!) as an incentive / challenge. Things like win with no shields, or win with only missiles. Might be fun for some variety.

Agreed. They could implement one time achievements with rewards or daily/weekly missions you can complete for rewards. The "sell your ship" for celestium gets kinda dull after a while. I get it that they want people to build new ships and experiment but IMO thats not a very fun way to encourage players to do that.

    Random musing....

    My nemesis is roy2x!!!

I'd love to see the stats of my battles vs roy2x, I swear you're the opponent I have lost mostly against. I've convinced myself I'm jinxed when roy2x appears as my enemy and I roll my eyes and tut to myself!

It's a double whammy when the immediate repeat battle is against roy2x....arggghhhh!

Does anyone else have a perceived nemesis? :)

I've had many players who showed up a lot in matchmaking and gave me trouble. Can't remember the names of them all, however. Top 100 has changed quite a lot since I clawed my way up on the list. Dsdnv was definitely one of them until recently. We stayed around the same rating for a while and got matched against each other often, but now he's got some ships upgraded and shot up in rating. I also recall fighting at least Admiral, Grah and Mnemonic4 a lot. Plus all the EO's.

In addition to the changes Ribatzki posted about, I noticed the higher level ballistics and missile modules received a small upgrade. The basic version (Vulcan cannon / Rocket Launcher) is unchanged, but most of the upgraded ballistics/missile weapons have increased in damage, and I think some also have a slightly wider fire cone.

Torpedoes remain unchanged, so guided missiles got a boost in desiribility. I think this was a good change. Torpedoes don't always hit, but they had over 200% damage compared to Impact Missiles (same size / energy cost), now it's slightly below 200%.
