Thanks for all your feedback. The game is quite heavy especially during battles with bigger ships so unfortunately it seems to have some performance issues on iPhone 4S and iPad 2. We are investigating the issues and optimising the game, hope to make an improvement on these issues after the next update. I prefer Vindicator over Revenant. The only thing I am currently afraid of and who keeps stopping my win streaks is Dsdnv with his Vindi/Reve laser builds. Three of my 10+ streaks have been cut off by him. My builds are improving due variety, so it's not all for naught.
Surprising that those builds are still "active". I think I made them back when shields were broken and way more powerful than intended and went straight back to using ballistics and missiles when shields got back to normal [emoji1]
Yeah I've been meeting those from 1190 to 1240. Guess they stay active due there ain't many players at these ratings. And I'll be damned if I need to nock out lasercheeser builds again..
Actually full lasers are somewhat popular again in 1300+ range after everyone first started adding more and more shields to counter enemy torpedoes and obv full laser builds will wreck anything with lots of shields. To be honest the game has gotten pretty boring after the ratings at the top started increasing faster and faster. Now I only get faced against Dash and Curath and all the time it's all about countering the builds they have stored in the opponent database lately. Having such a few ships you fight against causes some pretty whacky builds to succeed... For example Curath has one vindicator build with only lasers and shields that I get faced against and obv anything with a laser or two and a chunk of armor will beat that.
This is true, indeed. I have been fighting Dash_riprock almost exclusively for a while. That particular laser Vindicator was a response to one of his successful designs, as I didn't need to concern myself with any other opponents. I do miss the aspect of balancing my builds against a variety of different designs. The frequency of crashed matches (for me) in addition to a rather limited pool of enemy ships has made me play less, unfortunately.
Dash_Riprock here, I agree with you completely and expressed the exact concern to my friends who play. Once I started fighting you primarily it was briefly interesting to try to anticipate when you would switch from laser to ballistic and play the meta a bit more. Now it has become a little tedious since the entire strategy has become building hard counters to your latest hard counter of my latest hard counter to your latest hard counter, etc... and that sometimes needed to be done multiple times per day (though less now that you are playing less). I have noticed that while in first I start to randomly fight opponents from a range of ~200 ranks below the current max rank. Maybe that will spice things up when the top 10 get more people in a tighter range of ranks? Not really sure how else to force more variety into the game. I was actually considering intentionally losing to drop into a more varied pool of ships in the mean time. Hopefully this new update will bring something interesting!
I think a temporary bandaid would be that if you are sporting a super carrier, you'd be matched against another players super carrier regardless of the ratings -- that would eradicate the problem of just a few players cheesing hard counters over hard counters and give us a plethora of opponents to fight -- can't really go over the top cheesy to win a few rounds, when you know it will just give dozen other players free rating. As for me, during the past few days I've only seen ships from Curath, Dsdnv and Dash -- and while there's still some variety for me, it's clear it will get worse the higher I climb. I'm already seeing a lot of cheesy builds which I generally tend to have a good win ratio against, since I'm balanced somewhere around the middle. Special mention to a specirfic Curaths Revenant that seemed to be firing around 20 torpedoes per second (supports combined), it's a bit unnerving to fight against but usually with afterburners, I come out on top Fun to get mached against it and on the next round vs. some zero armor laser build with high shields.
Yeah, I'd imagine we (the top 3 or so) have left a number of wonky ships in the matchmaking system for others to encounter as they get a win streak and/or go up in rating. A hard counter to a specific build can be nasty, or it can be a pushover, depending on how closely your build resembles the one the hard counter was meant for. I like the suggestion of widening the matchmaking of level 50 ships to include all other level 50 ships. At this point, player rating doesn't really correlate with ship effectiveness any longer. It would really spice up things and force more balanced designs once again (especially for us who are currently locked in duels). And for those who haven't yet linked my forum name with my in-game nick, I'm Curath. Yeah, those torpedo Revenants were fun for a while! I tend to do very focused builds sometimes. I don't think my laser Phantoms are around anymore, however. A shame
I think I met that during my stint from 1100 to 1200 a few times. Sadly no match for Vindicators, but few fights vs. my Thane were so-so since the damn thing turns slower than a planet. I don't think ship designs at higher levels disappear even in a month or two since new builds are more scarce than at sub-1000 ratings.
You can't be Curath, as that's me! Just kidding - I can dream of an extra 500 points on my rank...500!!! EO - when is the update due to drop please? Excited for some new content. Fond memory of the week - thinking back to a much simpler time when my top ships were Morningstars and thinking how badass mine were with 4 whole laser turrets...woo woo!!!
This feeling: At least I get like 5-9 Cele for about a half a million per fleet battle. Worth it for ship upgrades

This winstreak has to be some kind of a record, I'm currently getting 8 rating per win and have gained like 100 rating.. Couple of really close calls but damn if I'm not fretting over each battle right now. Edit: And it continues, I think I should get 10 rating for my next win, 225 rating gained without losses (if its 5 wins for +1 per win - hard to keep the count tbh so this is a guesstimate) Still no Godlike Achievement tho
