I just bought this game when about a week ago when i realized it was on sale for $0.99. And man, right now i'm addicted to it.

I was trying to find strategies online and came across this thread. i've pretty much read the entire thread now (or at least skimmed through it).

I'm not used to playing these kinds of RTS games. I used to play (and love) Red Alert: Command and Conquer and a game called KKND2 on the PS1 (yeah, PS1 lol) a looooong time ago but that's it. So i was wondering, is this dominant rushing tactic also the usually dominant strategy in other RTS games? I know a few of you such as backtothis have been saying that the rushing can be countered but still, it's effective for like 80-90% of the time. It's a shame really, because i enjoy a lengthy epic battle (15-30mins) going to and fro with highly advanced units on both sides.

I don't care about the ranking but I went on about an 8-game loss streak because I was trying to play it the "non-rushing" way. Then I decided to copy my opponents' strategies and pick the Warden race to amass 3-4 Guardians early on near his base and rush him. It worked. I won the next 4 or 5 games.

It seems only very skilled players can counter the rushing. So it's a good bet to rush your opponents. You'll win like 80-90% of the time. Anyone else bothered that this is the dominant tactic?

Also on another note, anyone managed to get the achievement for the Level 8: Final Step of the Human campaign? To beat it under 10 mins? Holy shit that was hard. But i finally managed to do it after many MANY tries.

There's quite a few players that can survive a rush actually. If you want a longer game, do a guardian start and defend instead of attacking and build up. Use a tower. Block the ramp. There's quite a few things. When I'm looking for a good game, I find a friend to play custom mode with. The games usually last 15 minutes at least with constant back and forth fighting. Ranked games are a bore unless you're playing 2v2 with a friend. It's not the dominant strategy in most RTS by the way. I agree it's way too overpowered though on SF. If you can survive the rush though, Wardens are pretty weak late game.

I can usually stop a warden rush playing myriad now, but there are certain levels where I'm not sure it is possible. Can anyone think of a way to counter a rush with myriad on a tiny level like downtown?

Tower up and micro with a grub. It's going to be a hard fight. Like I said, ranked games are pretty boring since 90% of them end on the first attack.

Rawr. Me and backtothis will have a beast 2v2 team. :) I'm learning Myriad as my main race instead of warden (even though i main protoss in starcraft...), and I still haven't had trouble vs guardian rushing really. If you do the one mine one energy start you can build toxic shooters fast. Which do heavy work on guardians in my opinion. As long as you can avoid their first guardian, and avoid having him kill anything you make. you'll be fine.

EDIT: I need to develop my start though. I gotta see whats the best way to counter as Myriad. My counter works half-half

woooo.. i just won an EPIC 3v3 FFA that lasted 49 mins. One guy was defeated midway through the game by the 3rd player but it was an intense battle, mostly in the air between me and that 3rd player. My Wardens vs his Myriads.

I thought I was screwed when i saw his army of Dreadsnouts since those are probably the strongest air units of all 3 races and the Warden air units are pretty weak. I kept sending in air units but his Dreadsnouts kept owning them. This went back and forth for a while. But i managed to held out and i think it became a battle of resources. I had many and he ran out.
And I finished him off with the mega flying unit (Echelon?). That was intense.

btw guys, my GL ID is weirdlu. Add me if you want. My win ratio's pretty bad tho.. 25/50.. exactly 50% lol.

I'm surprised it it was an air battle he didn't mix in kamikazes... Those things obliterate air.

You mean that special for the 2nd Myriad air units? I've never tried it before actually. I always thought that that 2nd air unit for Myriad was useless. But I'll try it out next time since you mentioned it.

They're the best units the Myriad have..And honestly, the deadliest units in the game.

Warden rush is too powerful. Idk what's happening with those "balance patches" but I've beaten the same consortium guy 6 times and only lost once to him. And that was only cus I couldn't find him fast enough in a large map so he built 3 towers by the time I got there. In a 1v1 map consortium has like. 1% chance of winning a rush.... And myriad has a 2% chance... Nerf please?

It's now boring, please gameloft change the price of gardian to 150.(a gardian is better than a tower in 1vs1)or change gardian attack to 10.

2v2s and 1v1s with friends are still pretty fun. No one ever rushes.

I just build like 5 airbases and hoard all the ships I can and launch a full blown air raid. Winning in about 1 min after launch.

Hey guys, im looking for some people to play games against or with. My friend and I just got the game and aren't that great, but we are usually looking for 2v2 ranked opponents to play. Around 1550. I'd also play singles. Hit me ip or add me.

Hmm I just beat down a warden cannon rusher as myriad. It's actually quite simple. Against warden usually a myriad should do either a 2mine or a 1mine1energy start. 2mine is a bit more lenient in the execution time so beginners choose this.

Then if you two mine, then wait a bit. Get your lower notch in a weird position in a place that they wouldn't be able to see it if they were to just randomly attack your base. Then proceed with building manglers or something. If they rushed before, try to send your megamites (mines) to other places. And send your manglers to defend it. Try to get as many drones out as you can before they overtake your HQ. then just hide and macro up about 10 manglers. (I had two lower notches when they killed my HQ) and then my 10 manglers were able to barely kill 4-5 of their guardians and when the game. Myeconomy wasn't as screwed up as the rushers so I was able to continue producing and rallying to his base and win.

    Edit: with myriad...
Against consortium, always 1mine1energy start. Consort usually has slow starts. So this is most efficient.
Against other myriad, if you're expecting a rush go two mine: otherwise if you're not do 1mine1energy to tech up faster.
Against warden.... This is a tricky one. Against would be rushers I'd two mine In order to get a few static defenses up and a few manglers then once you counter the first few then you go. Otherwise one mine one energy destroy warden if they don't rush because wardens late game stinks

If I find out how to send replays I will.
