I've been hearing a LOT about SC2, and i have some questions about it. So the only RTS games i have played were the first SC, and Age of Empires 3. Almost every friend that i have has SC2, and i have no idea what is so great about it. From what i have heard of people like me, only heard about the game, have said thats it just the first one with better graphics. So should i get this game? Is there a trail or something? --RJ
Get it. I'm not an RTS fan, but I REALLY enjoyed SCII. Two years ago I went through a phase where I played Starcraft and watched the Korean tournaments online. But that only lasted 2-3 months and I've never gotten into any other RTS since then. But still I bought SCII on launch day and REALLY enjoyed it, as the story, gameplay and replay value were all very satisfactory! Sure, it's really not that different from the first one (except graphics), but it's more of a good thing and that's...well, good! That's my 2 cents
Alrighty, i like 2 cents, 2 cents is good. I think i might revisit the first one to hone in my skills. Or should i just get the second one and learn new ones? Are there any new units? New maps, i know that much. --RJ
the main difference is AI structure. When you're not microing units, they attack in a much more structured fashion. This makes the game vastly more accessible to new players. The races also seem more balanced (except the toss; thats because toss are awesome). The general UI is better, and the online matches are far more stable which is a huge plus to any sc fan. the second is by far better than the first. i just miss infantry medics):. then again the terran would just be ridiculously op then.
I like RTS's, but I prefer other games (shooters, sandbox games, adventures, rpg's). StarCraft II is the best RTS I've ever played, and I've barely touched the single player. The multiplayer is so awesome, there are dozens of strategies for every race (3 races) and every time you play you'll be suprised or suprise someone. If I lose in SC2 I feel like I've learned something, and I'll never let the same thing happen again. If I win I'm so happy and clever, it's much better than winning in games like MW2 or something. It's ****ing awesome.
I will say as a Die-Hard SC1 fan, do NOT play it to hone your skills for the second. Though not a whole lot has changed with the mechanics, a TON has changed with how you have to play with the new units and new tactics will easily over come those old tactics. I learned the hard way. I was on the top (well... not the best or anything but pretty damn good) of my game with the first one and when I booted up the second to play MP, I got my ass handed to me so many times. It really punishes you for playing like an old-schooler. hahahah. Get this game if you have no already. It's beautiful, it has a great camp story, the multiplayer is seamless, and most of all, it's just god damn fun. I've been waiting 10 years for that freakin game and now that it's here, I can't put it down.
Haven't played the first. Got SC2 two weeks ago. It's awesome. Played through the campaign and then played against the AI so I wouldn't get wrecked online. The campaign was solid, the AI was pretty good too.
Yeah I usally keep the AI on about Hard. Most of the time Normal doesn't give me the Jollies when I win as much as Hard does... but it's f*cking hard lol
I dunno, normal was like easy. I played easy then stepped up to normal and I still won in the same amount of time. Try insane. The AI makes like 5 barracks and spams marines and marauders. Then magically has enough minerals to make a fleet of vikings.
Yeah I've tried it. It was absolute BS if you ask me. lol Normal is easy but Hard is just right on par with my skill level for the game. Kind of a big gap for me from Normal to Hard. lol
