Been playing non-stop for the past two days. This game is awesome! I've got 57/69 achievements, slowly whittling away at the last ones. What does anyone know about engines? I was just messing a little, and didn't notice any difference between the mach-2 and the whale. Tested on both the Mosquito and a huge chunk of hull. Of course I was testing handling, not top speed. Edit: Oh look, there's a little stats dohickey on the build a ship page...
I suppose you mean other than damn near impossible to kill. Kind of reminds me of Spoiler the DeathStar from Star Wars. The way you have to shoot into the exhaust vent or whatever it is. Of course I haven't really examined it, too busy trying to blow it up...
Haha, that one exists, but it's not the final one. It'll randomly show up in the first 11 bosses. It's the 12th one I'm talking about. The square one...
Huh, it does start out square. I don't know then. In other news I've got all but the "score 1,000" achievement. Really sucks when you get to the twelfth boss and accidentally reset your gear to a different color, especially when your ship is 80% dependent upon having a green shield...
I found a graphics glitch. After being hit by an enemy's freeze ray, if you keep pressing the left stick while frozen, after being un-frozen your engines don't appear to be on while moving. Letting go of the stick and moving again makes your engines visibly on again.
Trying to stick with this game... So, I finally unlock the "Gold Fish," pay $500,000 to use it AFTER unlocking it, use it ONCE, and at the start of the next round I'm asked to pay $500,000 AGAIN to use it? Someone please tell me this is not normal. I earn $20,000 after paying $500,000 and I'm supposed to buy it AGAIN? Uhm, yeah, thanks but no. DBC
I wonder if it doubles earnings after game over or during the game... You would need to earn 500,000 normally to get 1,000,000 which is the price of the doubler plus 500,000. Which you would have just earned normally. Then net earnings beyond that would be doubled. I lasted through at least most of the bosses before that point... I don't remember exactly. It might not be worth the risk. But does it show the doubled earnings on the pause screen?
The amount earned is fine, but am I expected to purchase the same $500,000 item more than once? Said another way, is it supposed to be a consumable? Surely not, right? DBC
All of the bonuses are one-off bonuses. They only affect a single round. So the money doubler is a bit of a gamble. If you have a great round, you could earn an extra million bucks. If you die early though.... there goes your 500k. These bonuses are really not part of the main gameplay. They're more of an amusement for people who have played the game so much that they have loads of money and nothing to spend it on. For what it's worth, I've seen people earn 4-5 mil in a single round without the money doubler, so at that level the gamble is definitely worth it. Or if you want help reaching the 5 million gold achievement, this helps even when you lose money since the achievement is just for how much you've earned, not how much you have.
At first the consumable powerups had me scratching my head... but then they really aren't meant for early in the game and the doubler is definitely a gamble. It's really best to avoid them until you have nothing else to spend money on.
Yeah, that would be my opinion as well. Just wish I had known that before throwing the money away. In all honesty, I don't feel all that comfortable buying or building anything at this point based on my experiences, so it's relatively moot atm... Kind of a bummer because I love the core of the game, but the money management is more stressful than enjoyable for me, and I've got real life to provide me with that experience. DBC
Losing parts? That doesn't sound right. I saw your posts about that before and asked for a screenshot... this is the only report I've had of this. What happens when you change ship layouts? Is the main gun gone there as well? A screenshot of the bug would be a great help, I really do like to fix these things.
I don't understand. You don't really have to buy any parts in the game. Just play and as you destroy bosses and stuff they may drop the occasional part for free. Once you have them, they are yours. The ship on the other hand is meant to be taken apart and rebuilt depending on what mission you are trying to complete. I'll give the game some more time this evening. Maybe there's a new bug? Whatever the case everything except those special power ups are permanent purchases... but again, you don't have to purchase them since you'll find them amongst blown up enemies from time to time (until you max out the number possible to own) . Also once you use it on your current ship the part is no longer available for the same ship. So you buy/find a specific gun and you only get one of those. You can use that one copy of the gun on every ship design you have but only once until you buy/find more. The deeper you get the more stuff unlocks naturally and the more the game opens up. Ultimately you don't really have to do anything with the coins I don't think.
Ah, missed that. Not a big deal at this point, and I'm not entirely sure I could duplicate it satisfactorily via screenshots, but what would happen was that I would click on whatever the "discard blueprint changes" button was, and when I went back to reuse an item, I was getting a "zero/x owned" message. While I did get a "zero/x" message for the main gun, I'm assuming it would work like that because the main gun was still affixed to my main ship blueprint? Haven't built anything since then, and the $500,000 mistake on my part has pretty much wiped out my joy, so I'm not likely going to be able to duplicate what happened. Sorry to be a downer. DBC
Yeah, you know me, and I'm not fond of being "that guy." The game is pretty awesome, and I love a lot of it. It's an easy choice for either a 2-minute break or a 2-hour marathon. Not sure if it's just where I'm at personally, but a couple bad experiences made me skittish to actually mess around with it properly, so yeah, that's where I'm at. I'm hoping others check it out, because it really is a blast overall. Cheers. DBC
Yeah things sometimes don't click. I ende up pretty much considering the new Mikey Boots not fun. It's funny though you an I made te same mistake... Except I made it a couple of times thinking I changed ships and that's why my doubler patch diasappeared. ha! But no doubt this is a fantastic game. I've played the heck out of it since I got it and only have a couple missions left before its 100% complete. My biggest issue is boss #12. I have yet to cause it any real damage and its kept me from progressing. But once that's done I'm almost to that complete point so its kind if nice having one last mountain.
