Universal Starbase Orion - (by Chimera Software)

    Ok, strange request, but is Chimera planning on doing a revamp on the presentation side of combat? I know this is probably not very high on the list of priorities, but after playing Gratuitous Space Battles I can't help but want better graphics on the space battle portion of Starbase Orion.

    Just adding new backgrounds and giving more oomph to explosions would do wonders.

    Imagine if you could put both games together. Perfection.

    Anyway, just a itch I have. :p

    A little question...does leaders work in a previously started game?
    Or I have to restart to benefit those?
    (I had just started a coop game before the update).

    Yes, you should be able to update without problem. Once you start playing under v1.1.4, you will be playing under that ruleset (which includes leader auctions).

    I'm still relatively new to the game but I'm already hopelessly addicted to it.
    In solo I can always beat easy AI now...but I struggle on average.
    I'm playing a lot coop mode, my preferred one.

    I would like point out a (very minor) bug.
    When you tap on your allies in the foreign tab, you get a not so friendly message (the same in the versus)...at least the phrase should be accordingly modified.
    I love that now you have a contact rating and I must say that leaders are really a great addition to the gameplay.
    I know diplomatics is in the pipe...great.
    Another cool thing I think would be great would be more 'events'.
    Right now sometimes you find an ancient tech, a new colony...things like that.
    Wouldn't be cool if there could be even negative events (other than amoebas and crystals)?
    Like...you find a new technology in an alien relict...but as you gain some tech...an alien virus jam all your ships withing range...or you discover a rich planet that unfortunately has a plant that infect your people (and you must research for a cure), or your food is infected after an alien contact....
    Random events you have to manage....this should go along well with diplomatics if you choose to make peace with other aliens...so you will live in a friendly galaxy but still have plenty of problems to solve, just not military ones.
    (I would love a mode where AI aliens are not necessarily hostile).

    Just some ideas...the game is absolutely great as it is.

    Another little thing to add if possibile, as the game is really polished and async is very well implemented (CO OP is stellar).

    Could we have a customized icon with notifications?
    It's a really minor thing...but as we have a notifications cool sound it would be cool to have an icon too like Ascension or Carcassonne.
    I know the dev are busy with next diplomatic expansion, but I would like to see more random events too.

    Anyway, I can't play nothing else any longer...used to be an AVID Ascension gamer but I must confess that since I bought Orion I played it almost non stop both solo and co op.
    It's simply great, thanks for making it so accessible yet so deep.
    Leaders are super cool too, they open up so many new possibilities it's stunning.

    EDIT: I forgot another thing...it would be cool if we could have ingame avatars, not just the one from GC.
    I had to change it just for this game, to be more 'in character' :)
    A very very minor thing, just an idea.

    I keep trying to continue an online game, and every time I do, it keeps dropping down the menu from the time section, letting you know what all happened before that turn... you know, what researchers finished researching, and where ships have landed, that stuff... it drops down a couple of times, and the game crashes.

    I'm on an iPad 2, iOS 5.1... nothing with my device has changed since I last made a move and sent it...

    Wish I could be of more help... But kind of hoping that someone else is experiencing the same thing... ??

    ha... nevermind... figured it out.

    turns out the other player accidently deleted the game when clearing out their multiplayer games. =oP

    I have a query. I am assuming that the larger the number of spies you have assigned to a particular alien, the higher the chance of theft or sabotage of that particular alien? Is it better to load all spies on one alien species or spread them around?
    Thanks for any advice

    I love this game, the new update is really good.

    although I would throw a HEAP of money at anyone that made an ipad release of Fragile Allegiance. Thats my fave 4X game of all time.

    Oh. My. God.

    This game is amazing. And a half.

    All the management keeps you busy constantly and I've spend several hours already playing it. Bidding on leaders, managing food supplies, exploring, building ships and buildings ALL AT ONCE is very engaging, and I haven't gotten past my starting area yet :D:D love it.

    Just bought this. Fun, but some critiques:

    Turn times on a large map with 7 AI players are incredibly long.
    No way to queue buildings which will be unlocked by other buildings in the queue. i.e., can't queue up "starbase II" after queueing "starbase I".
    Short tech tree
    Slow response when switching between menus (ipad 3)

    Positives:
    Great race trait/bonus system
    Great ship construction system
    Nice graphics
    Well layed out system maps

    Also, thank you for not playing the "sale" game with the price!

    This can be done by setting up a custom build focus; you can do that through the options menu off of the main screen.

    The only thing that keeps me from playing Starbase Orion is the slow menu navigation. It's a minor issue, but very tedious. Any plans to address it in a future update?

    Despite this, I think you have created the best 4x game for ios. Keep up the good work!

    If you're talking about the delay from when you choose a new game to load, and the game actually loading, then that delay is the AI processing and this should be improved on in the future.

    If its something else, then let me know.

    I'm talking about navigating in-game menus. For example, closing the screen where you can allocate workers to farming, research, etc.

    Gorzhon's Hatchery

    Great, awesome game. Thanks much for bringing the MOO days back, being so responsive on the forums, and providing so many updates so quickly.

    I've spent a lot of time playing the game and searching on this thread for answers to items I have run into. I thought I had read about an update for Gorzhons' Hatchery whereby you could no longer put a leader as a captain on it or, at least, not put Gorzhons. In the middle of a new game and doing (I thought) pretty well until the G-boat showed up with him captaining it. :eek:

    Is that still in the works, am I not remembering correctly, or are there other developments surrounding the balance of this particular combination?
