You can do both. Playing with a friend (or one of the "regular" SO players) is often the more rewarding experience. If you want to learn through MP, there is a group of SO players who regularly play with "newbies" to give them a hands-on learning experience. Game Impressions As completely newbie (in the genre), I'm greatly impressed. The first hours (because I was glued to the screen) were surprisingly fun, much more than I expected watching the videos. The UI plays a great role in this, the game really flows well. I'll report later, I'm just scratching the surface obviously but so far I'm impressed. Sounds and music are outstanding. Despite lack of story, I felt like captain Kirk in uncharted territories.
Welcome Pitta I am looking for a game with someone from TA if you are interested! So far I have only been playing with random players so I only end up finishing about 1 in every 8 games or so... kind of a pain. Anyway, glad you are liking the game. It is awesome to see the player base still growing... and with all the new updates I hope it rises exponentially.
OMG 2 am and still playing...but now I'm winning after an HUGE EPIC BATTLE BTW I have a little problem...all of a sudden I cannot attack enemy planets anymore, it doesn't give me the option to attack...am I missing something? GREAT game btw, I'm loving it!
To attack planets you have to make sure you have troop ships in your fleet... Or have ships with the orbital bombardment package equipped... If not, you can't attack planets.
Sure but please give me some time to understand what I'm doing first Then I'll face the mighty multiplayer
Well ... all this starts to smell a little bit like spam ... and pushing the tread to the top side ... You should post something about when the next versions are coming ... or answers to the questions from the users ... but this ... no, thanks ...
How can you guys call game-related art of that high quality spammy? It brings back fond memories of the art from MOO. More to the point, it must have taken a TON of time to make those. Kittymac is working his tail off on this game, and he is as tiny a developer as they come. I'm not even sure he is full time (he didnt use to be). Got to cut him some slack for not throwing a few extra words into all his posts.
I don't even play this game but appreciate the dev's contributions here. Don't pay them no mind KittyMac ... keep up the good work !
This game keeps getting better and better, if we had more devs like this one I would throw away my consoles for good and be iOS only.. Really love this one...great work!
I second this! Keep the updates coming and feel free to post the great new races as they are available. I also don't mind the thread getting bumped because it is relevant, active, and we regular players are always looking for new blood.
Game Impressions StarBase Orion is pure crack. I should have bought it way before, but I had no idea this could be so fun and engaging...my (multiple) past experiences with the genre were all utter fails (too everwhelming, too many 'empty' turns, too many things to checkout where I got lost). I start to play (let's just check how my colonies are doing) and BAM! 3 hours gone! I'm certainly no newbie when it comes to gaming, but I am in this specific genre. After 2 days (and nights!) with the game I can attest that the game, while very deep, is newbie friendly. I followed EXACTELY what is said in the tutorial and played a bit to have a general idea....then deleted that game and restarted (tiny, easy, Ishtar)...since then I'm playing the same game....and I learnt a lot during playtime (how to build ships, how to focus research, how to improve certain productions, how to prevent my empire from starving, how to give commands to my ships....), all this while having an absolute blast playing it. I'm in a bit of stall now...both my Empire and my enemies were devasted by the ongoing war...we are constantly changing Galaxy leadership...but in the end I shall prevail!!! I've started to experience with sabotage too I can see myself sinking ton of time in this game, including the upcoming new updates. Thanks Chimera Software!!! BTW: considering spam a super active dev that post news and shots from upcoming (usually MASSIVE) updates in the official thread? Really? I wish other devs were like KittyMac!!! Keep up the good work and thanks again!!! EDIT: After an epic struggle, I finally won my first game. There were a lot of highs and lows in my growing empire, and many turning points during the game (the biggest probably when I upgraded all my fleet with nuclear weapons 3, beam lasers and hull plating). I had a pure blast playing it.
