roughly at 9:20 sec on the video I talk briefly about how to stop yourself losing money. If all your planets are building new buildings you will lose money. cut back on some planets building things. and switch it to economic funding. that will make it generate cash instead of spending it or hoarding it just for that planets next build.
In v1.0.3 the maintenance cost of building have been added to their display. In v1.0.4, the income summary on the planet will be expanded to include maintenance information. v1.0.3 was submitted to Apple on Saturday, will hopefully be released this week.
Sorry if this has been asked before or if it's actually possible in the current game, but... can you add a feature to switch between the management screens for the different planets in a solar system without having to require as much clicking around? It'd be nice if I could just swipe to the left of right and immediately jump to the next planet in the system. Either that or a button on the far right and left of the screen I'd also like some sort of option to see all the numbers on the Empire screen at the same time. It would be nice to see that Planet X is producing 12 food and Planet Y is producing 4 without having to click on the food for each planet separately. The production and research numbers would be nice too. Perhaps a toggle button here between numbers and people icons or if you can fit the number into the interface with the icons at the same time, even better. Great game.
Wish some of the UI stuff were a bit bigger on iphone. The only performance issue I have is going to planetary view has a noticeable pause, no matter what device. Everything else is spiffy though. Hope that is addressed in an upcoming update. Still pretty damn fun though ;P This + GoF2HD + Galaxy pirates = week of space games!
I think that the UI sizing is something that will only be fixed with an increase in screen real estate. Apple need to start making 4" iPhones and iPods. Agree that Starbase Orion and Galaxy Pirate Adventures are two amazing games. I don't really like the free roam of GoF2, but yeah it's good if you like that.
I am loving Starbase Orion but would prefer if there was some option to speed up the processing time when waiting for other players in single player mode or to allow the game to multi-task in the background and pop-up notify when an event happens. Also if there was some way to trade or form alliances with other computer based players that would be epic.
I too wish that there was an alliance/trading system in this game. It would definitely add more depth and fun to this game. As far as asynch for single player, I see where you are coming from, but I don't think that the wait times were long enough for Chimera to really think about incorporating them. I haven't had to wait too long for the AI since I've started playing, but I do think it would be a nice/welcomed addition.
Hi everyone! I have a couple of questions to devs. 1. Is there any chance that game will gain diplomacy system? 2. Is there any chance that game will gain planetary and galactic events (epidemic diseases and such)? 3. Is there any chance that game will gain controlled battles (maybe turn-based of with active pause)? Thank you for the great game anyway, please try hard to add more MOO2 features into it, iOS allows it, everything depends on you now. Personally would' love to spend another 5$ onto such features. P.S. From Russia with respect
Probably. Lots of requests for it! Definitely. I wanted to include this in the initial release, but had to push it off. Possibly. Lots of requests for it, but its would be a big change that would be to the detriment of multiplayer. Still in the brain bin for now.
Starbase Orion version 1.0.3 is now available from the AppStore. Lots of improvements, but these are the most important: All new in-game reference guide. Please tap on the '?' button and check it out. (the '?' can be turned on and off in the Options) Stability and performance improvements, especially for low memory devices such as the original iPad Fixes for text descriptions on iPod/iPhone devices. The text is no longer cut-off. All building descriptions now include maintenance cost and lot space required.
noob help here. I always seem to be in financial trouble mid game (about -27 per turn T_T). Should I have more farming planets or what not? Been doing a lot of 'automatic' stuff. And it does seem planets good for farming are pretty rare. Also, if you 'edit' a ship design, does that affect ships of the same type already made? Is there a way to check the loadup of a ship in your fleet?
If you're running out of money, set some of your planets to "Economic Funding". This converts the planet's production into cash. Also, you could research and build trade ports and efficient tax collectors. Once a ship is built it has the items from the design at the time it was built. The ability to double-tap on an existing ship in your fleet and see its outfitting is coming in version 1.0.4 (next week). Hope that helps!
oh cool. Thanks! And what's a wormhole? I remember getting a notice, but have no clue where it is, or how to use it. Like the new tutorial, but having a link to a 'video tutorial' on youtube or something would be awesome for newbies, or if you have the time/resources, make a full on interactive tutorial. That help section is a pretty hefty read =P
From the Exploration section in the new in-game reference guide: "Wormholes allow you to travel between two distant star systems in a single turn. This is represented on the map by a connecting line between the two systems." So, just be at one of the two systems connected by the wormhole. Then, tell your ships to travel to the system on the other end. They will be able to do it no matter how far away it is, and they will do it in a single turn. Hefty read for a hefty game =P Seriously though, I definitely want to get a video tutorial in game. But I want one of sufficient production quality, and that takes time and money. Until then, a very helpful fan has posted two video tuts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbQ7WLaVk7I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7k1a12FHzU
haha ok! Last few questions/inquiries. I like how you can tap a selected ship again to unselect it. Why can't you do the same for selected star systems though? Also, why can't you 'name' your ship designs manually? And finally, can you 'cancel' a ship while it's flying to a destination mid turns?
nice! game just crashed on me though, and the load autosave crashes the game now =( Think I've lost like 30min lol.
Thanks for the update! Finally i can change the human face on the race creator so I can play with my more nasty, disgusting and otherwise unpleasant race creations! Again thanks to the dev, its great to see this kind of support on an already awesome product!
Thank you so much for a quick reply. Three more questions: is there ship's refitting in the game? What if I want to upgrade old systems of my ships without scrappping them? Please add the feature, it would be so nice and so close to classic principles. Second: will you add more races and/or more perks to construct player's own race from? Third: Is it possible to add hiring of colony/ship leaders with their own bonuses? Also adding evolutionary mutation (ability to choose another expensive perk) as a peak of research tree, and a stellar converter to destroy planets both sounds nice Downloaded last patch, enjoying the game so much. Recommend it to all my friends. By the way, developers of "Ascendancy" wrote me that there will be "Ascendancy 2" in the future, I would love if "Starbase Orion" won't fall behind the renewed classics. Do not drop developing and maintenance as long as you can please.
