I don't know what's more annoying, honestly... Microtransactions and IAPs, or those who look at "free to play" games like an unattended "free sample" tray at Costco or as a challenge to get as much enjoyment from a FtP game as they can whilst getting some sort of zealot-like rush from demonizing any way the coders/publishers look to get profit. It's counterproductive and stupid. If people weren't buying bux, no one would be able to complain about their 'greediness' because the game would've been shut down. So go right ahead and dump on the "100% rise" in rental costs, but while you're at it, thank those who might've bought stuff so you didn't have to.
People could thank them but they could just uninstalled the game instead. More seriously though, I played for a few days, built a few levels and had my fill. I loved SimTower for PC and had this been a premium title designed around actual gameplay, I probably would have bought it. People can, I should have to point this out, play whatever they want. It's their time and/or money, but I at least don't owe anyone anything, let alone a thank you.
This is a totally logical decision, even a full-price title would do that. If the cost of getting a new bitizen is zero because you get a bux for giving him a dream job, they could just present a dialog for the player to select a bitizen, instead of letting him farm. This is basic game mechanics, not Free-to-Play.
Agreed. Especially now that the majority of players have all of the levels, it makes even more since for this change.
Found these images in the game files for the Wookiee, Chiss, Ewok stuff coming up (possible spoilers): http://imgur.com/wXL68W3 http://imgur.com/pjmXEcS http://imgur.com/g7JAZU7 http://imgur.com/1B9d2vu
And the battle droid / research droid level just looks like it got massively devalued. This fickleness is creating a disincentive to stock up imperial items. Really annoying!
Farming is basically a free-to-play mechanic. Why would you ever farm in a premium title? Anyway a dialogue prompt kills the random nature, and with it any remaining semblance of an actual game, so it really wouldn't be a fix.
I wish they hadn't have 'soft-launched' all the new levels so prematurely. It's by sheer luck I've been able to get two dream-jobbers for Holofilm Rental, and an L9 is currently in Slot 3 of it. When they launch levels you can't build yet, it adds the store to the RNG of the bitizen generation system. There'll be people who started playing after Imperial Marches was put up as a reward (or people who couldn't earn the medals in time), who'll continue to keep getting 'wasted' bitizens for a level they might not ever get a chance to build. ...even though I'm sure all the 'reward' levels will probably be made available for 'bux' down the road. In the case of my client, Battle Droids seem to pop up on every single goddamned assignment. I'm strictly focusing on completing Vader's assignments since I've only ever seen him award bux and VIP packs. I've moved Droid Lab to the topmost Imperial level and I've just taken to dropping every non-? bitizen there. ...unless they're going to an apartment level with a vacancy.
For me it's Shield Projectors/Heavy Shields. I've got 3 missions now all asking for 20ish Shield Projectors. I've read that in the past you could rearrange the order of the Imp levels and it would change what the mission is asking for. Can anyone confirm if that is still the case?
They changed this with the update. I was changing the levels around so that my rewards were really high. Now changing the levels doesn't do anything for me. I'm caught up on A couple as well. They don't space them out very well. I'm also hoping for better rewards soon. All mine have been 70-150K and there was one mission with a 10bux reward. I've done loads of them since the update but nothing good yet.
Hi all! Was playing this until December and had a glitch and decided to wait to restart till I upgraded my phone.. At this point is it worth it to come back? It was laggy before and had lots of other issues, what do you guys think? I know I missed out on limited edition things, do they ever become unlockable again with bux or anything?
Protip: when you have a particularly large tower "Death Star," poking the very top of the screen (with the exception of the 'add new level' button) auto-zooms to the top floor. Saves a bunch of time in scrolling. I just wish there were a shortcut back to the lobby that didn't involve waiting for another bitizen arrival.
How can we have an opinion on that if we don't know your device? Fill out your profiles, people! As of yet, no special levels have been unlockable after the event. I've been doing that for months, it's a normal iPhone behavior in apps. ;-) mnemo
Protip: Move all of your low-stock levels up there (the ones that have to be restocked the most often) and it's a lot easier to keep them stocked because you can zoom right up to them to check and stock them.
New update. This one brings rescue droids (mostly, to spend bucks), and solves the bug that prevented the game from starting in some phones (like mine!).
I just went from a 4 to 5s and this game hasn't given me any problems at all. Either has ANY app for that matter. Man, I wish tech would stand still so I can enjoy this moment of having a fast phone again!
Thanks for the good news! I remember getting the 4 when it was top of the line, felt good and now it's quite outdated, ah well
I got the update message and a reboot of the client earlier but I've yet to see any of these rescue droids. What do they do? http://appadvice.com/appnn/2014/02/star-wars-tiny-death-star-enlists-salvage-droids-for-deep-galaxy-missions Well, that was about as vague as they could make it. Evidently the 'salvage droids' will earn you the new characters and levels. EDIT: Ah, I see. It didn't update the client automatically. ...oh goody. I spend 25 bux on my first (and second) probe, and it comes back "you've already received this shipment. Here, have 4 bux." *toot* I guess that's potentially good news for people who didn't get Limited Edition stuff unlocked in time. So, there's the lesson. If you've been an attentive and dedicated player - *don't* invest in the best option for a rare item. One can only hope this is a long-term addition, so you'll get two chances at something decent per day without having to pay anything. Furthermore, it appears you have to use the first option because the Asteroid Fields don't list the new levels as being valid rewards. Only specific planets grant the new levels/bitizens.
