BTW, I just saw that Tiny Death Star accounted for 34.3 MB of mobile data traffic (when NOT on Wi-Fi) since I reset the stats on Dec 1st. Interesting! That's quite a lot of data for an offline game, no? mnemo
I tried to check what's changing between saves... I exported with iExplorer all application folders when I was at the beginning of lvl 21, and I did the very same operation some hours later with more money and stuff. As you can see on the screenshot attached, inside the Library folders there are 3 directory changed, and exploring them there are load of files changed as well. So the saves are quite a mess to manage, the solution I think is to save periodically the whole Library folder with some utility. On the iPhone/iPad Backup only the Documents folder is saved, and that directory is not changing between saves, so it's impossibile to recover data loss just with iTunes backup restore.
Another bug I found many times, so I can admit it's not just a case, is that after every anomaly quit, when I open the app I have load of money earned and much of my stuff has been sold... It happened few mins ago, the app quit, I re-opened it and I earned +9k coins... This is not really a nasty bug
Opened up the game this morning to see my 6 or so decorated levels no longer decorated. Saw all the posts about decorated levels losing their decorations, so I decided to use some bux to at least get to the first prize. Then I close the app for 5 minutes, and when I open it again all my decoration are gone again. Twice in one morning?? I spent 36 bux to only lose my progress again... I've noticed that the decorator droid doesn't appear as often the second time around either. I was saving my bux for the final elevator, but was willing to use some for the holiday special... not so sure about that anymore. If I'm going to lose any progress every time I close the app, then it's not worth it.
I think the decoration loss is something planned... And it has quite its sense... without these resets you can complete the quest in the very same day you start it. Loosing decoration, and bot to become rare and rarer I think it's part of the game, but it's just my impression. The question is "How many resets did they planned to occur?"
there is actually no one commenting ABOUT this game but only about problems and bugs ... IDK but i never seen this kind of thread before! I'm one of few (as i see here) without ANY resets. Game is "only" crashing like crazy but everything else is ok and after this crapy "christmas" update game is little faster for me (iP5) and also i'm missing 5 decorators to have all my 82 levels decorated, 10 characters and 2 scenes to unlock (Mon Cala and Scoop of Hoth). For long time i have NO new characters "for free" so i'm buying them for bux. Also Scoop of Hoth scene seems impossible because none of HOTH characters work for this one. If someone have this scene please let me know .) PS: sorry for all your reseted games
Update & Elevator Speed Cautious after being burned by a dreadful app upgrade a while ago, I don't upgrade until the reviews of an app in the App Store are OK. Thus, I'm only using v. 1 of the game. Some things do change in spite of that (the "free bux" in the "Store" [not really so free!], the Emperor proposing "doable" things). The game is slow, especially trying to exit from the Menu tree & occasionally it crashes for no reason. Like others, sometime things get sold so not all crashes are bad tho' I'd rather have a reliable, glitch-free game. So far I haven't had a crash or event which wiped out my game. My questions have to do with a comment I read in the App Store about the latest "Holiday" update. Someone wrote that the elevator speed for the fastest (499 bux) elevator was halved in the update from 42 PPM to 20 PPM & I've been able to verify this. I've been saving for this elevator but I have three questions for those who have already bought the 42 PPM one prior to the update: 1) Is the 42 PPM too fast for the number of floors? 2) Did the update decrease the speed of the elevator or cause a problem (trivial to fatal) with the game itself? 3) What does it say for your elevator speed after the update? Thanks for your input. I'm close to having the bux to purchase it but I'd like to know if it's worth bothering with or whether it will mess up/destroy my game when I do update.
1) first of all i would like even faster elevator in future for sure because for full death star (82 levels) it's too slow to get someone waaay up so i don't even care for upper levels BUT now with bitizens with ? mark on their head can go anywhere is hard to move them to some specific floor (i'm always moving floors where i need special bitizens for scenes to lvl 1,2,3 so i can manage to get bitizens there) 2) i'm little suspious about this because i feel TINY LITTLE buff for this elevator but it's like from 42 to 40 and not 20 that is crazy .) 3) sorry i don't understand EDIT: i have same issues like you do with v1 but after this update there is no more lagging in menu, bitizen overview or moving that fast elevator anywhere like before BUT time to time game crash for no reason at all. Also i never get that wipeout for my progress or decoration like others do
I'm pretty sure the elevator speed didn't change, I think they just corrected the description. The final elevator in Tiny Tower is 42 PPM, and the final elevator in Tiny Death Star has always been much much slower than that one, but it still said 42 PPM in the description. This might be a good thing though, because if the elevator in TDS did move as fast as the one in TT, it would be extremely difficult to deliver ? characters to specific floors, unless they added a confirmation dialog like with VIPs.
Disappearing decorations and game crashes with latest update I've been playing this game for a while and for the most part have really enjoyed it. I have put up with the game lag and chunkiness with each update and now it's time for me to voice my opinion. I was excited by the latest Christmas themed update by find two critical things wrong with it: disappearing decorations and constant game crashes. It's been fun decorating the Death Star with Christmas lights but three times now I've had my decorations disappear. I would have achieved my first reward by now. Has anyone else noticed a cut scene of the Emperor and Darth Vader using the force to blow away the decorations? Is that part of the game? It's happening randomly. Is there a timer for how quickly you need to achieve the rewards? Next, it's the constant random crashes and game data loss. Never have I had this problem with previous versions. Whether I'm clicking on a restocked item, looking through my album or waiting for the next guest to arrive in the elevator I get booted out of the game. It becomes so bad that at times I can't even get past the first Emperor scene. Only way to get by this is to reset my iPad, but eventually the crashes come back. Sometimes I wish there was the option to rollback a version. As great as this update initial seemed it's not worth it. On a side note, is there a decisive list for unlocked scenes? With the option to deliver "?" bitizens to the floor of your choice I have been able to unlock a lot more scenes but there's a lot more to go. Also, has anyone else noticed the movie icon for certain bitizens in the album? My guess is only these bitizens will unlock cut scenes. Good to know if you're using bux to pick up bitizens.
New patch is out ... but there is a line on the release note that I don't like very much: "If you continue to have problems please contact support".
Actually, it says "Fix to Tower reset issues. If you continue to have problems please contact support". Downloading via LTE right now... Done. This morning I remembered to deactivate airplane mode first and the decorations were NOT wiped. Then I played for a while, quit, and when I got back in the game, there was first a pause, the Game Center notification displayed and then the decoration wipe animation came up. THANKS AGAIN! Let's see if this update changes anything. I bet it won't generate more deco droids. mnemo
Good catch with the movie icons! Yes, those characters will probably unlock the scenes on certain floors. For sure they did not fix the crash bug... it has been crashed 3 times already in just 2 hours after the update... Well... crashes are not a problem for me, especially because of they give you load of coins Hope they fix the reset bug, I'm doing backups with iExplorer anyway! I wonder to know if after the latest update people was able to get their previous progress wiped by the reset (I doubt about it).
Game Impressions Fun game, cute graphics and text, but man it was frustrating to see all my progress disappear the other day for no reason. Apple will refund any in-app purchases, no questions asked, via iTunes if you click "report a problem," which eases some of the pain. I put a total of $15 into the game because I like the developer and the theme. I got the whole amount back but like all video games, my time is lost forever. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted and it's probably as good a way as any to quit this time-and-attention-sink of a game.
Do you already tried latest update? Any luck? It happened to me too, when I was on roof 70, at least the only good thing is I did not spend any on it.
Is it? Considering the big GameCenter lag when starting a game, I assumed it was transferring something. Too bad it didn't back up my progress from what I can tell!
This is very logical since 42 PPM struck me as too fast for a tower of this size. TT has over 192 floors floors & a lobby. Thanks as well to t0panka for your response. Sorry for the time you spent playing the game, to no avail. You're in good company if one is to judge from its App Store ratings. What I've never seen/read before is Apple refunding money for ANY consumable. If they do so with this game, they'll be giving back a small fortune.
