This game is 5 stars from me, but I am still in the early game play. Also I only play for a few minutes at a time. Great bathroom break game.
Found a 5 december backup but I can extract only the library/preferences/com.lucasarts.tinydeathstar.plist but it ain't help me to recover any progress So even a backup cannot help in recover data loss. WTF Disney or Nimble bit, fix this mess! I cannot start again from 1... I was on 70 roof...
Hmmmm, the update changed something with the Emperor and Vader missions. Before the update, I had to build an additional Imperial level for the Emperor and had to build the "Communications" level for Vader. When I just looked into the Emperor mission it said "Build 3 more levels" now and I could get the reward at the Vader mission immediately for building 3 types of objects. The follow-up mission for Vader also only demands 3 types of objects. mnemo
Anyone getting more lag in the game after update? For 1 minute its fine but after that its a slideshow.
The new update seems really nice. The game runs smoothly again (at least on my 5S; with the previous update it was almost unplayable), you can unlock scenes much easier, they added more Vader/Emperor missions, there's new Bitbook messages for when you deliver ? characters, and the decorator thing is kind of neat. The only downside I've experienced is more frequent crashes. It particularly likes to crash when I tap the "job" button on a bitizen to reassign their job. But overall I'm still pretty happy with the update. I play both side-by-side. Tiny Death Star feels a lot more polished with its interface, and has much more detailed visuals than TT, including animated floor graphics, foreground elements, much more intricate and varied artwork, animated menus, and so on. And the scenes and character bios are a really nice addition for SW fans. However, it's quite a bit harder to earn the premium "bux" in TDS. In TT you get occasional bonuses for fully stocking floors (this has been added to TDS but its very rare compared to the "buying frenzies") and bitizens occasionally tip you a buck for delivering them to a floor. Also, after years of updates, Tiny Tower has many more levels available than Tiny Death Star. And there are five rather than four different types of businesses (the creative category was replaced by the imperial levels in TDS). Tiny Tower also features missions which are rather different than the ones in TDS. The missions in TT require you to produce a certain quantity of two or three specific items, and rewards you with bux (usually 5-10, sometimes more) when you complete them. When the game was being updated, they would add a new mission every week, which was pretty fun. There are lots of missions now and they offer a nice way of getting bux and also provide a feeling of progression. Oh, and also, the final Tiny Tower elevator is much, much faster than the final Tiny Death Star elevator. However, the upgrades don't increase the tip amounts, it's always just 2x.
They needed to make another level of reward for decoration - a new residential level, as a new Service level will leave you with having to sacrifice *one* level, as you now need 123 Bitizens, and can only house 120. I could always repurpose my Workout Room bits, but it's still poor planning. OR, they should have just made the Drugstore pre-equipped with live-ins.
Another reset this morning!!!!! I restarted to build 4 floors yesterday night, and this morning I started the app and the in-app purchase warning windows popped out and my progress was wiped again. I'm so bored...
Had 7 floors decorated earlier today, just fired it up and back to 0 All other levels are still ok though
What is up with your devices, people? I'm at 63 floors and 17 decorated floors. The game is almost SPAMMING decoration droids. mnemo
If the game starts to run slow, just kick it from memory: In iOS 7, double-tap the home button and slide the game screen up from the list. After that it will completely reload and run much smoother, this also helped much before the v1.2 update. Yeah, had that once, too. Great overview, thanks! mnemo
I usually do the same thing... but last time I did it, one day after the latest update, it wiped my progress T_T
Whoa. I had 40 bux when I last opened the app. And now when I just opened it, I only have 36 bux. How can you lose bux when not even playing?? Is there some kind of punishment that takes bux away?!
Nice comparison. I only have a few additions/clarifications. TT was a ground-breaking app when it was released & won Apple Game of the Year. It wasn't as polished for that reason & it lacked the animations because it was written by a small (3 man?) indie group not Disney/LucusArts. I'm not a dev so I wonder if such animations would have even been possible back then or if the processor could have supported them. Yes, it had more floors, waaay more floors, but it had numerous updates, as you noted. Also, all floors were above ground & thus all added to the total coins of a delivered bitizen. The updates, with the exception of the recent "Holiday update," were additions to the game in terms of floors or features not the introduction of more bugs. Now, however, TT is a game in stasis with no new Missions for longer than I can recall. For those who've built all the floors & done the Missions, there's little to no reason to play. More's the pity... The most critical difference in my mind is that TT was able to be backed up! Any game/program which cost real bucks (i.e. has IAPs) should have a "backup" feature otherwise those real bucks are in constant jeopardy. Apple will not refund "consumable" items purchased. The second most critical difference is that NimbleBit is highly responsive to its users & addresses the problems in their games in a timely fashion. Disney/LucusArts gets a half star in that department. Coming out with a "Holiday Theme" before squashing the game-destroying bugs seems like a poor use of their dev team's time. And players' patience. Visually, TDS wins hands down but, given its ouch!! "growing pains," if I had to choose, I'd pick TT to play until Disney/LucusArts had all the bugs worked out & a backup feature enabled. For the Star Wars fanatic who didn't mind possibly the bugs & the risk of starting over again, TDS would be the odds on favorite.
I've lost my decoration progress 4 times now I don't even care anymore. I went to 12 levels once so I got the first reward once. Reading all your reset posts I took time to copy all files via iExplorer ..
No idea, that's the only issue I've had.Decorated a couple more last night and this morning they were gone again.. Decoration droids are pretty frequent
Lost my decoration... my turn I had a crash, I restarted the app, and I had a scene (like the ones we have to unlock) where Vader and Palpatine were wiping the roof 0, and then the game started without all the decoration I had. Problem is I don't have anymore the robot icon on the top right corner of the screen Is the Christmas contest already closed to me?
Argh, I just lost all of the decorations from my levels (31 of them! I only needed to reach 35! to unlock the special level!). But I still seem to have Boba Fett (Holiday Special) unlocked, at least in my Album. Could be worse! I could have lost EVERYTHING, apparently. My app has been crashing REALLY frequently, compared to the previous version.
