This is an option. The store becomes empty and can be changed to something else. For instance, a low paying cafe demolished into a high paying retail store. Demolishing is yet another strategy. If you don't like it, then don't use it if and when it becomes available.
So the Rancor Pit is another long-construction/high-yield level that has a 1h6m time advantage over Bounty Hunters, and with a DJ in there, yields 12000+ three-credit items at L1.
Game Impressions From meh, bit tougher to get bux that TT, but I'll give it a go, to an update that screams 'rushed' and mandated I think to try and get people to buy IAPS with the nerfed job reassignment... I'm thinking, well, this is supposed to be an imperial tower, it is supposed to be somewhat sinister I guess... I'll hesitantly give them a pass... To another update today that has me thinking... this is slower, I've got no imperial level goals, and this is just mundane... I haven't synced my iPod so I don't lose the game, but I'm thinking that isn't such a bad thing. 40 levels built, but I can't keep going like this. I didn't mind Tiny Tower, and I like all the Nimblebit stuff to some degree. This LucasArts version is getting worse and worse though.
Phew. I updated this morning and my game just went on normally. I always leave the game unattended in the tower view, not in a menu or something. mnemo
Talk about anti-climactic. I still have four Imperial levels to build and I'm 'done' with Vader's missions. The last one involved building 14 Superlaser test firings and awarded something like 360k. I'll still have to build the levels, because I've started to notice a direct correlation between having Imperial levels and getting access to special characters, even though the last one I got was Greedo, and I've yet to see him. But now at least Supply Officers serve another use - one minute per spawn off anything in build. Yay.
Much greedier than Tiny Tower. You won't randomly get tipped bux by ferrying people around in the elevator, and buying costumes aren't permanent unlocks (it's instead that you buy a costume that can be usef by one person at a time, which is just way too stingy). I 'm gaining bux at a tenth of the rate that I did in TT. The menus, UI, and overall feel makes me hesitant to go back to the original, but it just screams "FEED ME MONEY!," and I refuse to buy into that.
Impressions and Issues Been playing for a while and my tower is pretty developed. I haven't uptaded to 1.1.2 so far since it's has been reported that the game is wiped. Something I noticed is that all question mark characters, besides giving 2 times the coins are VIPs as well. Every time I delivery them in a commercial level lots of bitzens shows up and spend 6 coins.
Did the update to 1.1.2 and it did not fix any of the lag introduced in the 1.1.1 update. Still has the acheivments issue as well. On the plus side, it didn't wipe my data!
Several friends have been drawn in to this game. The two of us on Android have no bitizens with skill 9 in retail, those on iOS have quite a few 9s. The hire 30 bitizens mission also seems to be bugged, I got it when I was under 30 bitizens, and got all the way to 60 bitizens before I gave up and skipped it. I've been almost compulsively collecting and putting together info on the various levels and game mechanics. You can see what I have so far at: http://skillhax.com/Tiny-Death-Star/
I am disturbed by Disney/LucasArts' disturbance of virtually all of what made TT Apple's winner of Game of the Year. I think THEY have too many people working & need to "evict" a good portion of their monetizers, err, I mean "devs" for changing/ruining the essence of the game by trying to turn it into an ATM. Meanwhile, I was flabbergasted when I read that TDS has a 4 star rating for latest version when I just checked in iTunes but when I read the actual reviews they are virtually all negative, 1 star reviews. Apple has a very creative method for calculating averages. I would have flunked 3rd grade math if I averaged numbers so badly! I am relieved that NimbleBits, although a partner in this enterprise (at the very least, their TT code), didn't sell itself lock, stock, & barrel to one of those bigger companies (yet...). If the intrusive, overwhelming, wallet-emptying features of TDS are an indication of what's to come in "freemium" or other apps, I fear for the future of all apps. Hopefully NB will see how this "partnership" tarnishes, if only indirectly, their top-quality brand. Perhaps they couldn't see this train wreck coming but maybe there's an object lesson in here somewhere.
I actually really quite like this game.. I never played Tiny Towers though, so that probably helps I do agree they're greedy with the iap stuff, but most of it can be unlocked through just playing the game... I have over 50 characters/races unlocked, 53 floors, 13 scenes unlocked and the best elevator... and I've only spent a little on bux, most if it was just through playing the game (though I have played it quite a bit ). I really hope they will keep adding more floors to the game, I would hate to run out of new floors to build... that's one of the things I enjoy, seeing new cool Star Wars themed floors. EDIT - I'm very lucky today, unlocked three species and one bitizen of interest in one day!
Just if anyone is curious, the 54th level will cost 390150 credits. The prices are starting to get pretty high
So I have 23 Residential levels. There are only 24 in the game. I complete the "Move in 30 Bitizens" mission after skipping it previously, and what's the next one? "Build two residential levels."
You get so little for those missions anyway, might as well ignore them, or at least not stress trying to finish them... That would be my advice, anyway. Pretty dumb giving you an impossible mission like that though... How much does it cost to skip?
Just as long as you have at least one free job in your tower. When you assign bitizens to all jobs you still get the "your lack in..." Message from vader.
