I bought the app on my iPad. Then went on my App Store on my iPod touch in the purchased section and I was able to download, install and play this on my iPod touch 5th gen.
Not even, it's totally, completely arbitrary. First, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad mini, and 5G touch are exactly the same under the hood as far as their chipsets, including RAM. So, definitely not a hardware limitation of the 5G touch. Second, it will install from the app store app just fine for many 5G touch users (like me), and runs just fine even if you have your music or podcast app running actively in the background, doubly confirming there is no technical limitation of the 5G touch at all. The problem is that it will also remove itself the next time you sync to iTunes because the app is not authorized to be on the 5G touch - it's a deliberate exclusion without cause, an unfortunately ever increasing problem on the app store. Something Apple is apparently happy to allow under the impression it will drive everyone to upgrade to iPads or iPhones.
Be warned, it will uninstall itself if you sync with iTunes. I got a good trial with it, but it's gone and it's not good enough to keep re-downloading it and transferring the folder back over with iFunBox.
Thanks for the heads up. I don't sync very often with iTunes. This is mostly for my son as I play my version on my iPad until I get an iPhone in a week or so( hopefully they enable iCloud sync soon)
It's the digital compass requirement, for some reason the game needs a digital compass. Maybe Emperor Palpatine needs to know which direction Naboo is in.
That's a luxury I don't have - 200GB audio library, ~10GB on device at any given time managed by smartlists. Sync at least every 3rd day which is how I found this out Hopefully it's a temporary limitation but, if not, won't be the first app that's been excluded from the 5G touch purely out of developer spite.
I suppose they do the digital compass thing to exclude the iPod 4. Might be apple's fault for not allowing devs to exclude specific devices... Google Play allows that.
Again, though, not my problem and, as much grief as I'll give Apple when they deserve it, not really their fault either. It's not going to run on an iPad 1 if it won't run on an 4G touch, but you don't see them pulling that digital compass BS with iPads because it would affect all generations, not just one generation. Plus, they always have the option of limiting it to iOS 7 at this point if they really want to exclude older hardware without risking collateral damage. It's on the developer's end plain and simple: they have a choice to trust their users to read app descriptions, or to prevent millions of people from playing their game to avoid bad reviews from those too stupid to read app descriptions. In the end, they just get a bunch of bad reviews from touch users who can easily download their app to a computer or other allowed device and then let them have it, so I don't know what they're accomplishing with such a short sighted kludge.
Kit Fisto in the workout center cracks me up! He's on a treadmill and his tentacles bopping up and down!!!
It really bothers me that he's running sideways though. It is Apple's fault. Devs have been forced to claim fake hardware requirements for years to exclude devices, and sometimes it excludes devices unnecessarily. It's baffling that they haven't started letting devs choose supported devices specifically yet.
Yeah, instead of excluding the iPad 1 by restricting a game to iOS 6, they could implement a system like Google's. The dev chooses which devices he supports and that's it. For example, there are some apps I know my Nexus 7 would run but since the dev wants to use them only on phones, he simply crosses out the device, as in some home screen replacement that for god knows what reason the dev excluded tablets - but at least it was his deliberate choice, not like apple where the iPod 5 ends up being cut off because devs don't want people with iPod 4 buying the game but still want to support iOS 6.
I saw this issue as well. Went from a 4S to a 5S. Lost all saves. Then started playing again. Then the 5S had an issue, so it was replaced. And all save data was lost again (despite every single other app restoring just fine). I'm guessing it has something to do with the save data not being stored in the correct place.
Is it best to evict bitizens that have dream jobs on floors I don't have and instead try to find people who do? Right now I'm just stocking up on people but when I build a new level I never get one that anyone have as a favorite.
Cool it guys. This is probably a QA issue. No conspiracy or anger at iPodians. Dev teams always have limited resources.
Does anyone have a list of the Star Wars Bitizens and the Scenes they unlock yet? I only have 4 scenes unlocked so far: Spoiler Princess Leia > Interrogation Jar Jar Binks > Mos Espa Cafe IG88 > Holochess Hall Jar Jar Binks > Watto's Wares I am a bit confused as to why Jar Jar has unlocked 2 scenes as I thought it would be 1 per character...??? I also have Luke, Lando & C3P0 appearing regularly but cannot work out which level I should deliver them to so as to unlock their scenes... anyone want to start a list of all characters & known levels they should go to for unlocking scenes...???
For a while, my game wasn't saving when I closed it and reopened it, so I deleted it and tried again. Why the heck wouldn't they implement the same cloud saves that they have with Tiny Tower, Pocket Planes, and Pocket Trains?!? Seems like a huge thing to leave out of their LATEST app. Hope it comes in an update, or I'll just have to add it to the list of game saves I have to mine every time I sync my phone.
It's DISNEY, no limitations, and as someone who was able to install and play it for a few days on my 5G touch, nope, no technical issues. It's arbitrary. This mega corporation will get no pass from me.
When I need bitizens in residential area, they tend to visit closed shop instead. When my residential area is full, they start visiting residential area. What the...? It's not funny but frustrating. Do you have to make such doggy algorithm to entertain people? And "according to Seth's design", now I have 7 shops, 4 imps levels, but only 3 residential. What the...? And if I build residential level by myself, when the next "build mission" comes, I have to pay a kill to make it happen. Oh, BTW did I mention there is NO RESTORE function for in-App purchase? I paid $10 for IAP but later decide to start again. All coins all purchased bucks, gone! Gr8. #
Wait for an event with a blue rebel symbol where you have to find a rebel (Leia, Lando, ...) character on a random level.
