Yeah, that's quite a spread. Has this happened before? Seems pretty big. I wonder if something happened to the server bank, or maybe maintenance? DBC
Once that happened to me but that was because I didn't see a new update for it. After I updated it, i could play it
From memory, things like this have happened before, and Freyr has addressed the players directly on this thread if it's particularly problematic (not sure what page, but it's in this thread somewhere). I think they'll respond if it gets too bad, assuming they're still checking this thread even after the sudden explosion of match-oriented activity. --------- NEW MESSAGE: "Sorry, the server is closed for maintenance. We'll be back soon!" Well, good to know that they've confirmed the explanation beyond reasonable doubt themselves.
I'm doing the same thing! lol Hey guys, I'm psychic! A minute ago I posted wondering if it was a maintenance thing? Just tried (again) to get on, and my prompt has changed to "Sorry, we're down for maintenance." Anyone want their palms read? DBC
this is really off topic , but I seriously think that in the next update, they should make so that you can sell some stuff you don't want anymore. For example: my cutter(i have a windblade), the purple assault rifle you get when you start the game, and the first chaingun(i want the second one, from your guys's reviews it sounds good).
Yeah selling guns and armor would be good, I have a fully upgraded purple assault rifle. Also a buntch of old armor and stuff like that. Also I wish there would be a flamethrower... But that's probably not going to happen. There also needs to be more aliens. There should also be a boss where the aliens come at the same time as the boss. Also turrets would be nice.
You know we've gotten off-topic when the first actual on-topic comment in days seems off-topic... I agree, I've already got some stuff I'd like to dump. Continuing our off-topic discussion that is actually on-topic, what would the group suggest I get next? I'm getting way more mileage out of my Cutter than I could have hoped for, and I'm seriously considering a Mithril-based Pack as opposed to getting the Windblade. Do others find the Windblade indispensable? Or should I go for a Pack with more slots, floating ability, etc. I'm considering holding out for the F.L.O.A.T. Pack, but it's a ways off, especially with the videos not working... Oh, and yes, you want the M-Whatever Chaingun. DBC
Actually, I could see a flamethrower/napalm weapon being VERY possible with the game's current programming -- the napalm weapon might function similar to the boss's poison spit (area of the ground will cause damage to anyone who steps on it for a set amount of time). In such a case, the two floating backpacks would suddenly have a practical use in multiplayer situations (though it might also encourage sword-wielding in the case of the Blademaster, which will probably tick some people off >.>). Flamethrower, I'm guessing it'd be a short-mid range weapon that continuously fires. It'd have to do quite a bit of damage to make it worth using though, because we've already got the Windblade and the Morpheus designated as close-range/high damage weapons (and also the Trinity and Black Stars, if you wanted to use them at close range).
The windblade's primary usage as an efficient weapon is probably in PvP matches. As a PvE weapon, I've only really got two uses for it: As a zero-ammo way of killing small-fry aliens on the Wrath of Mantis. I do this by running back on forth on the center of the bridge, and basically using the waves to take out enemies at mid- to long-range. At close range, I'm slashing everything that spawns near me, and also copping a lot of hits (which are negligent with 50,000+ HP). Either chaingun (including the smaller one) is also effective here provided you aim and shoot faster than anyone using the described strategy with a windblade. As the weapon I switch to when I want to move at full speed, as opposed to running around with a chaingun. While I might also attack enemies that get in my way as I'm running to my destination, you can pretty much substitute any other weapon without a speed penalty for this function (particularly the NOVA-27 or the Crab). Functionally speaking, the FLOAT backpack gives you some rather handsome stat bonuses as well as the ability to increase your speed by 2 for 30 seconds (recharge time of 60 seconds), and an immunity to spit/poison. However, there's also the SAM backpack at half the cost, which sacrifices the FLOAT's reusable ability and poison immunity for an extra 15% of gold. If it's the gold you want, the SAM bag is a much better investment in terms of profitability and cost; otherwise, the FLOAT bag makes it incredibly easy to survive against any boss. ----- TL/DR: If it's fun you want, the windblade will provide you with PLENTY of that. 65 Mithril If it's gold/profitability you want, SAM bag hands down. 60 Mithril If it's functionality/survivability you're after, FLOAT pack. 120 Mithril
@DBC with your swordplay the windblade is awesome, and with the 2 winds fully upgraded in lair survival mode is enough to kill most aliens, get it. Also if you want float kind kind of thing get blademaster with windblade, that way you get a very powerful weapon and poison dodging, on bosses you can switch to M-2781 but on the earlier alien wave I sometimes(kind of rarely) use the windblade
I would like a thermal nuclear weapon that costs 100,000,000 gold or 10,000 mithril I'd play only this game till the end of time to attain it!!!......and then I'd chicken out using it which is a good thing Peace man
