3 items is tough. I mean, it really depends on your team, you know? I try to pack 2 HCs, 1 Big 'Ol Health (Hey, lag happens!), my M, WB, and a pea-shooter for the initial stage, something like the L or that other one, undead.exe knows what I mean... the glitchy one. I'd drop the pea-shooter first, then the health, but I'm stupid. As for general gear thoughts, I tend to go with the K (eep) I (t) S (imple) S (tupid) rule. Thunder first, then Perseus, M Series (leveled), WB (leveled to 6-ish, enough to one-hit small game), done. All that Gold-farming whatever is more interesting to others in the forum. I never worried about it, and I did alright money-wise... Thunder is no big deal with Serpent, just use a floaty pack and drop the M when he teleports... the real key is learning to anticipate his movements. If you're reacting, you're dying. If you're acting pro-actively, he's (she's?) toast. DBC
If one of the weapons you're using is the M-27, then this technique will come in VERY handy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWvjscJE_YQ Basically, it's one step further from what DBC said about changing to a light weapon when you're dodging attacks: if you start "firing" your light weapon before changing into the M-27, there's no start-up lag on the machine gun. You can chip in more damage and you'll have more opportunities to attack once you get the hang of it. Otherwise...it's possible to ditch the Blade-master for the STK or something, if you're confident with watching the ground to dodge poison. More room for hyper clips, and they come in VERY handy
I never bolt on someone, unless I regognize the as a freeloader. I played a rages match with a guy in viper/draco hybrid, and they were really good. I snould also point out they used a windblade and sniper on alien wave(mostly WB), then pulled out a laser cannon for the boss stage. You just never know what skill and weapons someone has.
The real key is distance (unless you're an idiot like me and happen to enjoy riding him around like a bucking bronco)... The lag is a non-issue if you aren't where you shouldn't be when you shouldn't be there. It sounds trite, but you really want to understand why Serpent does what it does when it does it. I cannot tell you how many burly players I've lost because they got clipped 3-4 times in one teleport progression... I'm sure you've seen the same... IAH, the only reason I use the floats is laziness. It really is pretty easy to dodge the poison, and it's great practice for learning battlefield awareness and proper spacing... Look at me. I'm talking SW again. Ah, those were the days... DBC
Are one or two people possibly up for a Serpent right now? I'm itching to go flatten one with all this talk
Thanks for the video, but I already found that on accident. I've tried to do it without blademaster, but if I'm shooting serpent I'm not watching the ground, and if I touch it, that's 15,000 hp, give or take a few thousand.
This is the key... they USED a WB. Ask anyone here what it's like running with me. Carrying a sword is one thing. Using the sword is another entirely. DBC
D@mn you! I KNEW that was coming. I was just about to say my good-byes. I'm going to get about 4-1/2 hours of sleep , and I have my internship tomorrow (well, TODAY now). Maybe tonight? DBC
"Tonight" being in about 18 hours' time or so? I'm guessing you don't mean "right now", seeing how it's now "tomorrow" :/ I'll see if I can stay awake, but I'm definitely up for that if you're around. Good luck for the internship!
Thought I should also add, there IS actually a practical use for the Windblade or other swords: ever notice how some enemies glitch, and don't register on your crosshairs? (So no matter how much you fire at them, they won't die) As it turns out...any sword can take care of that. That's about the ONE saving grace of the weapon if it's not being used as a quickdraw trigger...
I assume you have amazing ninja sword skills? I don't think I'm to bad, but I'm certainly no super awesome ninja. Some people just have no sword skill at all though. Ehen I was still a noob, I played poison pit with a level 10. They were wearing Cygni armor and had a windblade, dicing up all the enemies. They died before we got to the boss! 56k hp and they managed to die on pp!
Dude, you are talking to THE ninja of TouchArcade. He's been using swords ever since he could afford the Cutter, and if gaming skills were a sign of real life skills, I'd hire him as my personal sushi chef
Well, for people who aren't filthy rich(like me) it's great for saving on energy(and it's pretty good in pvp).
Wow dude this makes me want to buy a metal detector so I can find my ipod and play with you guys. The cutter brings back fond memories. I remember my awe when I discovered I could I could kill acid bombers before they hit me
Hey do you know how many times you can swing the windblade continously? I've gotten to three I think.
Indefinitely, if you're using the step-slash glitch: swing, step forward and stop, and keep doing it. If you hear a swinging sound, then you're actually slashing. Windblade is easiest to see this effect on.
Only just read this post, but thought I might have a couple of interesting responses here and there You should see what I do as of late: most of my teammates are probably wondering what their dear-little-thunder-nooblet-of-a-teammate is doing charging head first after bosses and into crowds of aliens. Stationary camping has well and truly gone out the window for this old turtle -- it's back to running around like I've had 10 cups of coffee Earphones come in realllllll handy for that: the surround sound can actually let you sidestep a sneak attack from Serpent if it's teleporting from behind you. That being said though, if you don't hear the teleporting charge, it usually means you should be able to see it (in which case, scan like crazy). I'm amazed any of us even play this anymore, honestly: it's been more than 6 months for most of us now. Guess things are always 10 times more fun when you've got good mates to play it with
