Levels 3-8 is pretty gutsy, and I admit I've played quite a few matches with some of those people, most of which who die mid alien phase, unfortunately, but some who actually contribute to the boss fight. One sad individual actually died mere milliseconds before the boss did, meaning he didn't get his reward I see a few high leveled players actually trolling Serpent, bringing along Black Discs, Black Stars, and even Energy Gloves..
Energy Gloves? Those things are almost sure signs of a hacker if they've got any more mithril equipment on them =.=" I'm still getting the occasional sword-wielding moron, which is usually when I start playing DBC's favourite mini-game with them: I might only have 20,000 HP, but I can give swordsmen a run for their money in the survival/patience department if they're not going to pull out a proper weapon... I could almost forgive the usage of the Black Disk if only those players knew how to use them properly: it has to be a head-on strike while the Serpent is either stationary or charging straight at you for it to have any real damage potential. Otherwise, though, it's not the most energy-efficient weapon, seeing how both railguns surpass them in that respect...
That's my favorite all-around weapon, the Railgun. One-shotting almost anything is more useful than it seems.
Guess I will hop in for a bossrun or two this evening, just to see how things are now If anyone should be online around 8pm CET, keep an eye open for Null/Zone (changed my GCid).
Very useful for ensuring you get the kill on a target if you hit, as opposed to having 3 chainguns pointed at one enemy and not being sure whose bullet delivers the killing blow. It's also particularly potent on the alien rush in Double Rages and Serpent, because both maps are particularly flat -- very easy to take out multiple aliens with one shot if you're always repositioning yourself for such an action. However, I've dumped the railgun from my original weapon line-up ever since I went from using a turtle hybrid to using the Thunder set as my main armour: that was a fun weapon, but I'm favouring much higher levels of mobility now which don't sacrifice power (i.e. the Cygni set). The railgun is deadset handy to someone with a low speed rating though.
I think I should be gone by then, but just for future reference, would that be in 4 hours' time? I'm getting something about CEST being used right now because daylight savings isn't observed when I look it up.
Guess why I do NOT like daylight savings? Makes stuff unneccessarily complicated... Anyways, it is 16:20h here now, so yes, 20:00h is in about 4 hours from when you asked.
I forgot to ask...is there a story or theme behind your GC names that we've seen so far (i.e. both "dev\null" from memory and "Null/Zone"). Your original one was making me think something about a programmer with regards to the "dev" bit, while the "null" bit makes me think of the "void" theme, which seems to be a popular RPG theme
"Zone Null" actually IS a story, a science fiction story by Austrian author Herbert W. Franke. But somehow I did not like it like that when I saw it on screen, so I swapped the words around, and added a slash. dev\null is correctly "/dev/null" , because it comes from Unix and thus follows its conventions (the \ in filepaths is Windows style) . Not that I ever worked much with Unix, but when I was thinking about a GC name, I suddenly had the phrase "you can pipe this to /dev/null" (if you cannot make sense of it, ask Google) pop up in my head. But I did not like the double slashes, so I used one backslash instead. The story about how Sheinfell originated is fun, so I will relate it as well: I needed an Elvish name for a new character in a MUD I was playing back then. Unfortunately I was never really good with coming up with creative and interesting character names... So I was sitting there and listening to "Out of Space" (the Peter Tosh one, not the Prodigy song) . One line is "Lucifer, son of the morning, I will cast you down to earth". Well, one of Lucifer's bynames is Morningstar, but that was definitely too cliche for a definitely not standard Elf background (if you want to know more, look here: http://www.unwritten.net/lior.php . Lior are travelling Elves, and I took alot of inspiration from Sinti&Roma culture for the character). So, Lucifer was thrown to Earth, the shining star that fell. And I had a first name: Sheinfell. Morningstar quite quickly led to Brightmorn for a byname, followed by coming up with the explanation that his parents picked it simply because he was born on a really bright morning Fun fact: Some years later I did a Google search on "Sheinfell" , only to find out that it seems to be a really rare real family name, maybe Italian in origin (there are two folks around whose last name appears to be "Giraldo Sheinfell").
Sheinfell: reading up on the Lior, I'm thinking of gleeful little leprechaun sized creatures -- except they're actually supposed to be our height o__O Good thing you changed your name from Dev\Null, or you might get a lot of people sending their complaints to you...though according to Wikipedia, you mig also get the occasional donation meant for the iPhone Dev Team >.> JediKnight: is it any wonder I'm not a programmer when the first thing I read that as was "C sharp" instead of a programming language? >.>
I'm doing quite the opposite: I'm more than willing to sacrifice speed for ludicrous amounts of damage. Currently I'm going to test out a few new builds to see what my specialty weapons can do against a serpent.
Trust me, if you fight in a weaker, slower hybrid for a while, any increase in speed or power is a breath of fresh air. It just happens so that the Thunder offered both of them compared to the gold-farming hybrid I used to run in, so that really put the thrill back into the game for me And how ludicrous are we talking about?
