I wouldn't really recommend fighting with the Black Disk in Garage seeing how it's a wide open map, but perhaps you're doing something with it I haven't thought of :/
Mainly trying to booby trap areas, like the stairwells, to try to do that little bit of unexpected damage...but that match was mostly me missing with a sniper >_>
Wouldn't the disk move a little slowly for it to really work as an effective trap? If I had to suggest one, I'd say something like running behind a corner and then laying a trail of grenades behind you -- I'd theorise that they'd walk right into the explosions while you can continue opening the distance...
Yes, but I mainly use the Black disk to...discourage people from moving through a certain area. And I never bothered with the grenade launchers :/
Hmm, true that...I mainly save it for narrow corridors myself, and I haven't really played around with the grenades that much -- that was based off the one match I've used them in. As for the grenades being visible, they're also silent to opponents until they start exploding. The idea is that you use the delayed explosions to chip in damage while trying to lead the opponent on a wild goose chase to attack you (think about trying to goad a Windblade or Trinity player into running up to you to attack you while you're running around a large circular pillar: you're almost within reach, but not quite, and all the while you're chipping away at their HP if they try to chase you). That being said, if they figure out what you're doing and stop chasing you, yeah, that's the end of the grenade damage -- but that's more of a support/trap tactic rather than a primary offense like most of the other weapons here.
While we're talking about the Black disk, I have been having problems with it lately. Sometimes it will bounce off a wall, and sometimes, off the same wall, it will just explode. Anyone know why
As Enjoo said, it's the degree at which your disk hits: if it hits the wall dead-on (i.e. perpendicular to the wall at 90 degrees), it will just explode. The angle needs to be 45 degrees or shallower for it to bounce.
