"Borderlands 2", by any chance? I don't have Steam myself, but that's what seems to be pulling a lot of attention as of late.
Ermh, no? Trust me, take it from someone who works in the computer industry for more than 10 years, and plays with computers since the days of the breadbox: Bigger almost always means better. As in...want to take a guess why they run heavy stuff like weather simulations on giant supercomputers? Lag/nolag can be influenced by so many things, that once your iron is big enough, other things like network infrastructure, protocols, your software, heck even which connectors you use on your glassfibre cables can make more difference. Just wanted to clear this up, rant over, we will be back with our normal program riiiiight after the commercials...
I *suspect* what JediKnight was trying to argue was that the smaller the number of players on a single server, the faster the server should run, and hence the less lag there is (i.e. he was referring to the "size" of the server as the number of people on it, rather than the actual processing capabilities of the server itself). That being said, I don't know whether it would be more efficient for gameplay overall to have all the players on one server with large amounts of bandwidth and processing power, or to have two or three separate groups of players on two or three different servers with correspondingly lower processing power. That sort of technological explanation is a bit beyond me =.="
Have they announced it? I haven't really been keeping up with the news as of late... Also, could I interest you two in a Thunderstrike on Mantis if I can get the video program working? -------------- Edit: appears that Lava is idle, nvm =.="
Hmm...I might wait and see what the first buyers say first, with regards to the iPhone 5: my current mobile is quite outdated with regards to the current smartphone market, so both the iPhone 4S or 5 would be an upgrade to me either way. Now it's a question of whether the quality jump between the 4S and 5 is great enough for me to consider forking out extra money... As for the iPod Touch? My knowledge about that particular product line is quite vague, but being 7 times faster than whatever the current model is sounds like a VERY good thing, particularly for players who want to play processor-intensive games.
I've held off getting down and dirty with these aliens until the problems with this game are resolved. So... are they? I canna even remember quite what they were, but they had something to do with lack of incentive for co-oping...
Define "problems": if you're referring to the risk of encountering freeloaders in co-op, then there's been little to no progress on that front: you can still encounter sword-wielding morons who spend the whole boss fight running around without firing a single bullet at the boss. Most of us respond to that by either leaving the match, or trying to get the freeloader killed. People on this particular forum are quite cooperative, but with regards to the game, there's no in-game mechanism which really encourages cooperation beyond increasing the amount of gold each alien drops for the number of teammates you have in the match. Actual cooperation depends on whether you're playing alongside a team player or a jerk.
It doesn't seem like there is that big of a difference between the 4s and 5 I'm not sure if the iPod 5 is actually 7x faster than the 4...
The A6 is supposedly twice as fast as the A5. If true (and so far, Apple's earlier claims of speed improvement in iOS devices have checked out), I'd call that quite a big difference What remains to be seen are the specifics of the GPU and CPU, beyond the A6 moniker, and what the speed gains are in specific tasks, but there is a good chance of a considerable improvement in graphical peformance, perhaps one of the greatest jumps so far. This is what I was told a few months back: So it would seem that co-op is not only not enocuraged, but actually discouraged by the current mechanics. That's the issue I referred to in my previous post, and enough to keep me away if it still persists (since I'd be in it primarily for the online play). Good advice, should I decide to invest time regardless of above-mentioned issue. Thanks.
But the iPod 5 is supposedly 7x the speed of iPod 4... I you like it, go for it. I'm still playing even though there are flaws like that.
If you want to play alongside reliable teammates, check out the Players's Group found here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/group.php?groupid=559 Some of us are still active, so if you want to seek out cooperative players in particular, this is a good place to start
Ah, internal elitist TA alliances. That's the stuff! Nah, but thanks! Little time and lots of games I've yet to delve deep into, but for some reason, Star Warfare keeps calling out to me, and yer advice will probably make it far more fun if I give in Yeah, that does indeed sound like a preposterously large leap at first. But there are two generations in between, from A4 to A6 (and Apple were actually right when they claimed one iPad generation was actually 9X faster than the previous in some respects), so perhaps it's just good enough to be true I suppose I've grown exceedingly picky, what with 50+ games I've bought/freebied during 2011 and 2012 but never even given a fair chance, so I'm probably looking for unattainable perfection But yeah, Star Warfare does seem fun in spite of flaws. That's a good sign in itself, in particular if it is still updated occasionally.
@ Ayjona - I hate to say it, but if anything it's gotten worse. That said, I'm in the same situation as you, many, many games to play, with little free time to do it. If Freyr could at least make changes that did not actively discourage cooperation, this game would be a win, but as it stands, it's pretty much unplayable for me... I agree with what others have posted though, if you're lucky enough to play with supportive teammates, the game's awesomeness increases exponentially... DBC
I know you're joking, but seriously? What's hard for me is feeling the vibe that the people I'm playing with are trying their hardest to not do anything at all, and just ride through to the pay-out. It really is a little soul-crushing, if you'll excuse the melodrama. When I finally gave up on SW, I was averaging 7-8 out of 10 randoms with at least one non-participant, and it just got to be too much. With any of you guys, I'm just happy to play, because I know we're all trying. Even if I don't get Mithril, I'm happy one of you got some, because we're on the same team, you know? Playing with randoms is just so depressing... lol DBC
I think I'm going to cry!!!!! I think Freyr ought to use your line DBC to market their game "Soul-crushing " gameplay It might be the pitch they're looking for to push this game to the next level!!!
