I may also have a game mode you may find interesting. It's a variation on my original Apocalypse game, and also a bit on a game mode I've seen played. It's meant to be played as a strategic multiple capture point game, but we can wire it somewhat like that. The game is called Super Spy. With the recent update, the new game mode All For One is the absolute perfect setting for this game. So how it's played: Let's assume that every one of us playing has a specific vital piece of a map to treasure, and we all need the whole map. We all start with "decent gear" (Meaning not the first three, but no mithril or top armors either. Packs likewise, but a little more freedom in that area. Weapons are shotguns and swords for maximum effect. Also pack a M-27 or Cannon, and load the last slots with consumables of choice.) and we set out to claim the map pieces. The first player to successfully kill every other player once will then set out to capture the flag, which will be held. Now comes the slightly complicated part. The Spy who is holding the flag must defend himself from the rest of the players long enough to score. The Spy who is the one defending the final stage is the ONLY one allowed to use the M-27/Cannon and consumables. First Spy to score three times wins.
Basically, the armor loadout will be any from Strike to Draco, and packs will be from the VP-22 to the Hyd-00. Weapons will be shotguns and swords, and a cannon/m-27 + consumables for the "Super Spy".
Something unrelated to the PvP talk: I think the Black Disk can actually strike a boss twice before rebounding off a wall, because I'm taking a look at some videos I've yet to upload, and the HP bar seems to be bucking twice when nothing else is hitting the boss (this is on Poison Pit and Siegfried in particular).
@JDualZ: If you just happened to run into a Thunder Armour guy in a PvP match who was doing something which looked VERY similar to the Synthesis Combo and Twin Snipers, that would have been me -- just borrowed your match to test something out
Yeah, I was playing with vice and his little bro, I went out to check who it was cause he was doing something like the Synthesis Combo, turns out it was you
That's a newer version I'm testing out, actually -- if you time it from when you start firing to when the boss's HP goes to zero, it can actually take out Siegfried in 10 seconds. The only problem with it right now is that the RPG is inexplicably exploding in my face for some reason -- but it's not happening in PvP. I'm trying to figure out what's causing the rocket to self-destruct at point-blank range, because I'm losing some damage output when it doesn't travel far enough to hit the boss.
Does anyone have thoughts on my new game mode? I tried to think it out to every detail, but I could use some feedback (If it's a good or bad idea, etc..)
Well it would only work with a few people because you said you have to kill verybody at least once first... Please explain again. I just realized black disk is better than the rpgs!!!! The mother bird has 3 noobs and the other team has 1 player with whatever gear. So undead your odea is also another game. Siegefried in 10 seconds! WOW
Personally, I'd imagine that it'd be quite chaotic trying to keep track of who you have and haven't killed in a full 8-player match. 4-5 players, you can probably manage it, but it'll be primarily down to self-regulation -- it's quite hard to tell if someone else isn't miscounting or mixing things up, particularly if multiple players are running the same armour (e.g. you kill the same Phoenix player twice, but you think that it's two different Phoenix players, or something). That, and you'd also have to avoid fighting near the flag, lest someone accidentally picks it up...otherwise, it becomes even more confusing as to who's actually picking up the flag for real, and who accidentally ran straight on top of it while fighting.
There's definitely one major drawback to it if you're trying to use it on a boss: the Black Disk is incredibly slow (which is probably how it can hit a boss twice in one pass). Even the RPGs move through the air faster than the Black Disk. If you want to use the Black Disk against a boss, you'll either need to fire it while the boss is moving straight towards you, or when the boss is stationary (i.e. immediately after it finishes an attack, while its flinching, or when it's performing its battle pose/warcry).
My idea is to use the player numbers instead, like: P1 needs to kill P2-5 once. Although multiple kills are allowed.
For anyone who's interested: two clips of a rather volatile weapon combination -- notice how the rocket tends to explode in my face. I've since figured out that you can stop that from happening if you put the rocket at the beginning of the chain, but I'm finding that rather hard to use properly. Poison Pit (dies in about 2.2 seconds across two cycles) Siegfried (dies in about 10 seconds across 6 cycles, although you can clearly kill it within 5 cycles if you don't miss with your snipers or have the rockets explode in your face)
Seen undead.exe's vids and they're impressive and for the pvp talk how bout a mode where it's team death match or free for all but while everyone's fighting, there's a boss so peopl gotta watch out for that too. Also add me on game center, it's 31337P4nd4, I'd like to do some bosses soon as I figured out how to fix my ammo problem (can't scrape together 150 mitrhril)
Nice vids! Oh, and I ran Siegfried with a player who was cycling Snipers last week. I barely got to warm up my M-27B1! DBC
Excellent videos undead.exe Really good quality filming and it's amazing to me to see PP Spidy monster and Siegfried go down that quick!! Congrats!!
LOL!!!!!! Can't tell you how many times I said " Where the BLINKIN' are the other two sword swingers hanging out while I bust my guts hacking' , slashin' and shooting my way usually to greet Siegfried on my own
Heya, welcome to TouchArcade With the ammo problem, I think that depends on where you are in the game. If you've yet to play Space Station or really get into boss runs, the Cutter is a great way of saving ammo -- just gotta learn how to manage your distance. Once you're fighting on Lair in single player or attempting to take down Mantis in any mode, you're better off finding a camping spot in survival mode (preferably against a corner with a good view, so nothing can spawn behind you) and killing as many enemies as you can without spraying any more than you need to. You're going to incur ammo costs, but you'll find that your profit is MUCH greater than your expenses if you're playing properly. Once you've figured out what your general income is like, you should set yourself an ammo reserve amount, and keep topping it up when it falls below a certain amount (I used to keep about 150,000 in ammo reserves and restocked every two boss fights, but I've since upped it to about 300,000). Oh, and if you're playing alongside any of us...PLEASE don't be stingy with your ammo and wait for us to kill the boss for you. That's frowned upon in this particular forum, and there are countless stories of us either ditching freeloaders mid-match, or outright waiting for the boss to kill them unless they start pulling their weight: there are a lot of selfish players out there, and we don't really stand for that most of the time. And don't try using swords on bosses unless you're suicidal, you'll probably get run over trying to do that. -------------------------------- Btw...I actually sent an email to Freyr a while ago asking for something very similar to what you suggested with the team deathmatch/free-for-all while a boss is lurking in the background: a type of defence game where each time has to defend their own giant cpu-controlled boss, or something (yes, I actually pulled the idea from DOTA, despite never having played it >.>). Freyr said that ideas are going to take a while to consider and implement, which casts some doubt on whether we'd actually ever see something that detailed, but great minds think alike
