Not sure of you ever checked out the www.bullettimeguide.com site, but I agree with everything you said above. Even 30 seconds of video should be plenty, and showing a certain technique is always better for me as well, and oftentimes shows more in a few seconds than pages of text would. DBC
The main problem is how we're meant to record our playstyles right now. Handheld camcorders appear to be the simplest way of doing things, but there might be a few issues with the video quality, what with all the hand-shaking and the camcorder needing to constantly refocus on the screen if we rock back and forth slightly. Just a heads-up, to anyone who's interested: I'm going to upload two videos from when I just tried to record the Airplay mirrored gameplay directly from my computer. You'll probably understand why I think you need a good processor and/or video card once you see the results... Also, Parcheesy, I can't say those two videos are characteristic of my usual playstyle -- but you *do* get to see me mostly failing to quickdraw the M-27...plus a few successes, here and there >.> -------- Edit: I might just upload one video for tonight: ~85MB has taken me a good 20 minutes to upload, and the second video is a 175MB monster -- I'll save that one for when I've got more time on my hands =.="
You're giving me some seriously bad (good bad) ideas... Perhaps a freeloader killing channel? BTW, I can save you the trouble of watching my playstyle when paired with two Laser Cannons. Picture me standing around a lot, fuming, and then scrounging everyone's power-ups like a freeloader. DBC
If I have to record my play style for a YouTube video then I demand a hefty actors fee! I have to pay my agent you know Just hope when the camcorder starts rolling that I don't develop stage fright! It might not show me off too well
"Actor's" fee? So you're acting now, eh? The title of the video is "Quickdrawing the M-27B1", but the video is still processing. On youtube, my name is pretty much the same, but I'm a hidden user - I like my privacy >.>
is anyone interested in seeing my playstyle in a utube video? if i do make a video though, i'd include my inventory and i might talk so you can see my stuff and hear my voice
Handheld camcorder videos make for a dizzy video, but if you have a stand, you can set that up then stand right behind it and stretch out your arm towards the front of the cam. Maybe you can fix focus the cam so it won't keep focusing. Just try to maintain steady hands when playing too. ^_^
Steady hands? With my playstyle? Not gonna happen >.> Why? I'll explain in the next post, as soon as I've figured out how to embed the youtube video.
Quickdrawing the M-27B1 (or rather, mostly failing to) So, this is the result of one of my earlier attempted recordings using Airplay mirroring. As you guys can see, the relative quality and framerate isn't exactly peachy >.> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpPctsoc9zo I *will* say that the video isn't necessarily being jumpy if you see me suddenly jump from the Windblade to the M-27B1 though - that's probably one of the rare instances when I performed a proper "quickdraw". If you're wondering what I'm doing, I'm playing on an iPad, and basically holding my right hand above the screen. What I do is press my thumb down first, and then try to tap the weapon-scroller as quickly as I can immediately afterwards. I usually mess up and drag the scroller slightly, but when I do it properly, that's when my character pulls an M-27 out of nowhere and starts firing with no lag (hence "quickdraw"). Hence why I don't think I can hold the iPad steadily in front of the camcorder - not with the amount of hand movement I use with my playstyle >.> --------------- Edit: can someone tell me how you're meant to embed a video here? My attempts are going QUITE awry...
The video capture is quite good, especially for a first try. Detail: It felt a bit too long. 60-90s length, with focus on showing the quickdraw repeatedly while staying mainly stationary, might have been better. And no, no idea how to embed videos here.
Thanks for the feedback guys. That was much more a video test-run and quickdraw practice rather than a proper tutorial video. I'll try making another one if you'd like, but I'd need to perfect the technique first - still quite hit-and-miss with it >.>
Making a video, or the quickdraw? If it's the latter, check the video description for some hints - though I think it's a lot easier when you actually take your left hand away from the left stick to tap the scroller (though yeah, you sorta can't move for a moment if you do that).
i meant making a vid. i can do the quickdraw but i'm not good at it oh and can you do some vids on your boss runs? that's what im gonna do
That might be a little trickier with my current set-up. I can only mirror my screen on the computer for up to 10 minutes. The recording limit is no longer there because I'm using a different screencast, but the filesize is going to be absolutely massive. How are you doing the recording anyway? Camcorder, or another method?
I saw your other vid. I have an account on OMGpop too!!! my favorite game there is draw something lol sometimes i become a pervert and draw something gross
