Hey Enjoo Not sure if you made it? Sorry DBC....we waited ...then another joined so I pulled the trigger!!! Wish it could be easier than this but many of the games end up lost connection
I somehow managed to bring up a GC invite screen from within Star Warfare just then. I can't figure out how to replicate it, but I'm sure I've seen it before... ------ Edit: just figured it out. You have to press "play game" from within game center when you're viewing the game from a friend's page, if that makes any sense. I don't think you can invite them directly into a match though, but they'll know you're online.
Ok then Thanks Enjoo and Drummerboycroy Think that might be it for me Just wanted to say when I play with you guys I always feel kind of timid when it comes to picking up power ups that you guys unselfishly don't take If I took any that were your kills and reward I'm sorry Kind of hard to keep track sometimes Cheers!!!
Well, I got a "few" games, mostly RPGs and Strategy stuff. If you like those, I can make some recommendations.
gone through 7 pages of boss rooms and pass codes... missed it all... BTW continuing past conversation, I'm more fond of songs than games, but I definitely agree that the IOS platform is wonderful in terms of prices, and $6 is a great bargain when you compare to console games (I'm a great PlayStation fan), especially since there are so many wonderful games on iTunes. I would like that
RPG games recommendations No problem, Arrow0x, here we go. Part one, RPGs: In general, I place good story and gameplay over eyecandy anytime. However, a certain minimum standard should be met. Which is why I do not like playing retro-style RPGs for example (stuff that looks like what I played on my c64 when I was a kid). I like fantasy that is a bit unusual and goes further than the usual "Lord of the Rings"-like standard stuff. Good science fiction is something else I really like, that is why you will see some spacebased SF games here. And I am a real fan of mechs, unfortunately there is not much around in this area on iOS. The 3 Chaos Rings games. Good graphics, moderate-good story. I liked them, but in the end they get a bit too grindy. This is after finishing the story, though. Gamebooks: If you want to go oldschool, check the gamebooks from TinMan Games and Megara Entertainment. Nice stories, and no difficult mechanics to learn to play. "Fabled Lands 2" is a mix between gamebook and fullblown RPG (based on original paper gamebooks, but nicely enhanced by the marvels of modern technology). Avernum:Escape from the Pit and Avadon:The Black Fortress by Spiderweb: Something special. Spiderweb is an indie developer that is around for a looong time, and it shows. The games have great stories, you need to make (moral) choices that affect the game, lots of background, etc. Avadon is more linear, Avernum is a huge open world. Silversword looks like an RPG with enormous depth. What kept me from playing it past an hour or so is that I do not like the interface at all. Crow (by Sunside Inc): Won't say much about it, so I do not spoil the surprise. Really different. Highly recommended. Ravensword - the Fallen King: 1st person RPG. Good graphics, good story. Really liked it, looking forward to the announced sequel. Dangerous: SpaceRPG, with trading, mining, factions, etc. I am active in the small community it attracted. It is a good game with alot of potential, and entertained me for like 20-30 hours. But in all fairness - and the devs admit to that - it is a somewhat unfinished product. The developers ran out of time and money to build their vision. If they can pull off what they plan, this will be one of the most amazing games ever, I think. However, future development is uncertain, as their funding is not secured. As you maybe can tell from the lengthy comment, I really like this game, and its developers. Ash & Ash2: RPGs, slightly oldschool style, nice story. What I do not like is that of the promised updates (I bought the expensive Ash2 Gold edition because of them) only one arrived so far. King of Dragon Pass: The "first class fivestar with silver tableware and all-you-can-eat" monster among iOS RPGs/Strategy: This is a port of an old PC game, and absolutely overwhelming. You are the chief of a tribe (Celtic inspired, I think), and need to secure the wellbeing of your people. On top of the strategy, it has a gigantic background, a huge overarching story, many smaller sidestories, brillant game mechanics, and a ton of things more. What amazed me the most is that really *every* action you take has consequences, some showing only seasons or even years later. I played for alot of hours, and still did not finish the game. The only "downside" is that with all the choices, possible paths and options, the game is immensely complicated, and has a long learning period. But this is also part of the fun, you need to discover all those things, what they mean for you and your people, what consequences they can have, and so on. Without specific comments. Games I enjoyed, but will most likely not do another playthrough: Aralon - Sword and Shadow , ActionRPG Sacred Odyssey - Rise of Ayden, ActionRPG Earth and Legend, RPG Emissary of War, ActionRPG Galactic Phantasy: Spaceshooter with story, trading elements. Galaxy on Fire 1/2: Spaceshooter with story, trading elements. Nothing too special in terms of story, but made a nice play anyways. DungeonHunter 1/2: ActionRPGs. Moderate story, good graphics and gameplay. Stay away from DungeonHunter3(Arena), though. That one is a pure hack&slash game, with unpleasant IAP.
Strategy Games recommendations Round two, strategy games. Same as before, I value content over eyecandy, provided that the graphics meet my personal minimum requirements (which aren't that high, not everything needs to be on the same level as - say - Infinity Blade). Metal Brigade Tactics: Gets topspot here, because it has mechs. Excellent squad-level turnbased scifi tactics game. I liked this game alot, to the point that I got in touch with the developers and helped them smooth out some bugs, and also tested the expansion before release. Difficulty is selectable, can be a walk in the park, or a total nightmare. I really hope they (it is a 2 people team) can finish the sequel they are working on. Autumn Dynasty: Realtime Strategy. Interesting graphics design and interface, inspired by Chinese brush&ink drawings. Solid story, good gameplay. In some parts really difficult. Multiplayer vs. as added bonus for those who like it. Crimson:Steam Pirates: Steampunk and Pirates! Good story and gameplay, quirky humor, and alot of steampunk. Did I mention there are pirates? Elder Sign:Omens : Lovecraftian Horror game. I don't know how to properly describe it, it plays alot like a classical boardgame. Good gameplay, and I love Lovecraft. Necronomicon Redux: More Lovecraft, a cardgame this time. Genesia: Wordbuilder / Strategy: Fresh and interesting, but also rather complicated. I always want to come back to it, but never find the time. The funny thing about the "fresh&interesting" part is that this is a port of an old PC game. Now is that a statement about the current state of the games industry, I wonder? Ravenmark: Extremely well done fantasy turnbased strategy game. Excellent gameplay and story. Provides a good challenge. Additional campaigns are available as IAP, which is entirely justified in my opinion, with all the work that went into this game. Majesty - The Fantasy Kingdom Sim: Realtime worldbuilder / strategy. Good gameplay and interface, very quirky humour. Parodies alot of fantasy cliches. Unique in that you cannot directly control your heroes. You build your "town" instead, and your heroes wander off on their own, exploring, fighting, etc. Tradewind Legends: Fantasy piratey trader with ships shooting cannons, airships, story, and quirky humour. Offers several different main characters that all have different - and partly connected - storylines. Highborn: Turnbased strategy fantasy. Parody, extremely quirky humour. Takes shots at almost every fantasy cliche you can find, cranks it up to 11, then takes it over-the-top. Imperium Galactica 2: 4X realtime space strategy game: Interesting races and techtrees, good interface. Has campaigns that tell stories of the different races. Can be insanely difficult at times. Starbase Orion: The big granddaddy of 4X space games, (not only) on iOS. Imagine MOO2, cranked up to 11+ . Turnbased. Extremely well done, has a huge community, multiplayer, and a very active developer (yep, only one guy!) that continually improves the game. Ascension: Another 4X space game, realtime. Port of the original PC game. Parts of the interface are a bit clunky, but the game itself is really good. Dungeon Crawlers: fantasy turnbased party combat, with a nice storyline, more quirky humour and parody. Other stuff, not necessarily strategy: Acheron Prime: I already mentioned it here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=120348&page=526 EPOCH.: Infinity Blade with guns and futurey Robokill 1&2: Robot action game Anomaly Warzone Earth: Tower Attack / Realtime Strategy The Lost City: Nice point&click adventure Demons Land: Another point&click adventure, rather dark in theme
Thank you, and let me know when you've got time to run, as I've got a window between semesters (summer and fall) with a bit of time on my hands! DBC
Truth be told, I'm theoretically available right now - I might be a little clumsy though, mildly sleep deprived, but not enough to stop me gaming
Ah, Andrews25 was a new face we saw on this thread while you were away. I haven't seen him in a few days, but I'm hoping others were able to play a few rounds with him ThePowerofLava...frankly, I haven't a clue. I'm all for welcoming new members to the community, but silent lurkers sorta unsettle me a little
