The upper level of Air Crash seems like a favourite for most players...it's also an absolutely ridiculous spot to bunker at if you have the flag and two or three well-armed teammates guarding you - there's only one way in, and snipers can simply step back from the ledge if they're getting attacked.
Well, I don't need to enter to kill them, just stand back and use a nova or something... I mean generally what type of area do you camp in?
"Run-and-gun" is a term taken from another game. In that game, it's about firing while RETREATING, primarily - it's designed as a way to manage your distance from enemies while continuing to pour damage into them. Note that weapons in that game slow you down significantly when you fire, hence run-and-gun: you only slow down for a fraction of a second to fire, and then you turn around and keep running until you reload, allowing you to maintain your distance. We haven't really defined the term properly in Star Warfare, but I've generally used it to refer to agile playstyles where you can continuously move and manage your space while firing. You'd need at least a speed of 8 or 9 to do that with the M-27, whereas running around with a Nova or a Crab is a more pronounced example. Relative to PvP, I think of running-and-gunning as what you're doing when you're retreating while attacking the opponent who's trying to follow you. I don't do that all that often - the main thing I usually do is get behind a corner as soon as I can, and then switch to close-quarters if said player actually tried to chase me down.
The problem is that the snipers up there will know where you are too - there's a huge "P1" sign floating above your head, so you can't really sneak up on someone on the upper platform unless you spawn directly beneath it. In which case, you're still going to have to use the ramp. The main thing is, they've got a large platform that oversees most of the map to try and snipe players from, and then anyone who charges up the ramp and survives may still have to chase down the snipers if they decide to jump off the platform and escape - though they've just lost their original high ground advantage. Ditto JediKnight - I generally go hide somewhere if I'm waiting for all my opponents to respawn. You'll have most likely taken some damage, so picking an advantageous spot where you can attack and escape easily would be a good idea. Alternatively, you can start roaming and trying to locate the players when they respawn to get the jump on them, but I'm not really a fan of deliberately spawn-killing.
Oh man, do I have some awesome new freeloader stories... I've got to start writing these things down. And Siegfried paid out 4 Mithril on my first successful kill today! DBC
Back again... Without an iPad. Do people know I beat Darth Ronfar and Enjoo at the same time? Just saying that my pack and playstyle is great... But in long range? I got PWNED! I pulled out a bazooka instead of nova. *slap*
Share, man, share Should I start a new thread in the Group? "Freeloader of the day, winner of the golden crapbag?"
Yeah, whatever. You picked a close combat map. That's why I had a bad feeling. I'm more mid-range combat
I just made my own boss fight based on poison pit! You shrink in visibility and the boss axtually shrinks.
