[PLAYERGUIDE] Basics - Stats and Terminology Explanation

POW: The attack power of your weapon. The higher the better. Can be modified by equipment. +X% POW bonuses work with the base damage of your weapon.
Example: You have two equipment pieces that give a total of +10%. Your base POW is 1000. 1000*10/100=100. Your effective POW is 1100.

Hitpoints (HP): No explanation needed, I'd think.

SPD: Your speed. Again, the higher the better. Equipment can raise or lower your speed.
For practical purposes, a speed of 5 is considered the lower limit. Below that, moving around becomes really sluggish. A speed of 7 is generally good enough for all scenarios.

Energy (ENG): The amount of ammunition you carry. All weapons use the same pool, but have different ENG costs per shot.
This is also the reason why you see a total amount of ENG (e.g. 100.000) on your overview, but when you buy ENG, you see values that differ with the equipped weapon: This is the number of shots you can fire with the equipped weapon and your ENG pool.
Example: You have 100.000 ENG . You have a weapon equipped that uses 100 ENG per shot. When you buy another 100k ENG, you will see 2000 (shots) in the shop display, not 200.000 . Now you change to a weapon that uses 50 ENG per shot, and you will see 4000 (shots) displayed.
You can restock ENG both from the Shop and the Customise menus. You will see a slider that lets you select the amount you want to buy. Tapping the slider opens a dialogue box that lets you enter an amount directly.
NOTE: Ammunition costs are absolutely NO issue in this game. All they do is slow down your monetary progress insignificantly. Just remember to buy more regularly. Carry enough and forget about it.

ROF: Rate of Fire. How fast your weapon shoots. To get the shots per second, do 1/(ROF*1s).
Example: ROF listed is 0.25. 1/(0.25*1s)=4/s . We cannot really say "the higher the ROF, the better" here. The total damage output per second (DPS) is the important number. However, when you miss with a low-ROF weapon, you forfeit a much higher amount of your potential maximum damage per time unit.

DPS: Damage per Second. Divide your POW by the ROF to get your DPS.
    Example: POW 100, ROF 0.10 : 100/0.10=1000 DPS.

EPS: Energy per Second (your weapon uses). More interesting for the numbercrunchers among us. Everyone else can forget about it completely.
Multiply energy per shot with the rate of fire to get your ENG use per second.
    Example: ENG/shot=5, ROF=5/s -> EPS=25

Energy Efficiency: I won't go into this. Another numbercruncher thing. Damage per Energy Unit spent. The higher the more efficient your weapon is in terms of energy use.

    Gold: Your monetary funds.

Mithril: Your Mithril funds. Mithril can be gained from winning boss fights (more on that later). Several weapons, armor pieces, backpacks, and consumables cost Mithril to buy.
Mithril-bought weapons use gold to upgrade the weapon levels, not Mithril.
NOTE: Exchanging Mithril for Gold is not a good idea. Mithril is much scarcer than Gold. And the exchange rate is way too low to make it worthwhile.

Excellent stuff, Sheinfell. I especially like how you've included additional notes straight off to ensure new players don't become misguided (i.e. ammo costs not being a true issue when managed properly, and what happens if you miss with a weapon with a low ROF)

Finally had time to get another part of the Guide up: Stats and Terminology Explanation.
Because the 1000 character limit in the Social Group was too much of a hindrance, I decided to do it differently:
Each part of the Guide will be a post here. The Guide Thread in the Group will have links to all the posts.

For feedback, criticism, etc. go here, then I won't miss it:

Thanks undead :) Trying my best here to make it comprehensive.

Just to give an impression why this is going so slow (aside from the day never having enough hours):
Taking notes, deciding what goes into it, reading/posting in this thread: I don't have a number, but let's be generous and say 1 hour only.
I then outlined the whole thing in my head (yes, I have a good memory...sometimes). That took me ~4 hours over the last 2 weeks or so. Writing it down, formatting, proofreading, etc. took around another hour. So, even for something as "easy" and straightforward as explaining what the stats mean, we are looking at 6+ hours.

And I like your wording/title much better, will change it to "Stats and Terminology".

Though it doesn't really matter I want a weapon that is...:
    Automatic sniper rifle:
    Power: 600
    firerate: 0.50
    Speed -1
Has to focus in but still is good... To me.

It shoots laser instead of the usual piercer laser thingy

    And a boss like:

Well anything, I just want another boss, these are too easy, maybe a boss where the boss and enemies come at the same time? Would definitely make it harder.

How is infinity blade? Is it a lot longer than the first one?

When you don't fire the laser cannon until it overheats, do you have to wait for the cool down?

I just bought the full thunder set and used the ability 3 times on mantis and still had it for the boss fight, people not using the ability in the initial wave is abusing the armor, killed the boss in 2 seconds.

Just bought the laser cannon. Really powerful in pve, but it feels weak in Pvp. I dont know because I don't have it fully upgraded and am inexperienced

    This is by asasnator:

Here are some good tips on how to earn gold.

    1. For when just starting out in the game. Do the infinite wave mode online for Front Line. This is the very first level you get, and it is the easiest way to kill a large amount of aliens earning you a lot of gold early on. Also something I should add, the longer you survive on the infinite wave modes the more HP the aliens have (and I would assume the gold increases as well). So the longer you stay alive the faster you earn gold. Also keep doing this till you reach around rank 5 – 7. Though you can also do the different levels for a change in scenery, but Front Line is the easiest and you can survive the longest because their are only the three basic types of aliens.

    2. The best ways to earn gold is to have gear that increase the “% gold” attribute. So I would recommend getting the Fortune Armor set, and the backpack ECO-03-V1 asap (or if you are willing to buy a IAP or save up mithril beating bosses, get the SAM-005-1 because you won’t regret spending the mithril on that amazing backpack), and then start saving up for the Thunder Armor set around rank 4 or 5 (you unlock it at rank 6). Once you almost have the full set of Thunder Armor, you should be able to do the Mantis and Poison Pit boss fights with a little practice and help. I would quickly like to note that the best weapons early on are the Assault Rifles (AR), so when you first get the game don’t upgrade the beginner weapon, save up and buy the MA72 AR and upgrade that. And after acquiring the Fortune Armor, save up and buy the FL334AR and upgrade that.

After having the Thunder Armor, ECO-03-V1 or SAM-005-1, and FL334AR (upgraded), you could start to spend your money in one of 3 ways. You could buy the M-2781 Minigun, it is the best gun for killing bosses BY FAR. Or you could buy the Nova27, it is the best Laser Rifle in the game and is a good upgrade from the FL334AR. And you could also start saving up and buy a new armor. Though the best armor for earning gold is the Thunder Armor.

    3. Once you feel capable enough with the Nova27 or M-2781 and the armor of your choice (though the thunder armor will give you the most gold) start trying the harder bosses because they drop a ton of gold. I will give a list of the amount of gold each boss drops, and it changes based on how many players SURVIVE the boss fight, which I think is a bug because it should be based on how many players ENTER the boss fight, NOT survive. If you care to know why its a bug or an unintended flaw I can tell you, but I’ll be e-mailing the developers about it so it will hopefully be fixed.

Alright, here are the base amounts of gold you get for killing the bosses on online mode for the first time of the day.

    Mantis: 111,110
    Poison Pit: 199,998
    Siegfried: 299,998
    Double Rages: 444,443
    Serpent: 599,998

If you kill the bosses with one other player, multiply the numbers by 1.2 giving you: (which is a 20% increase in gold)

    Mantis: 133,332
    Poison Pit: 239,998
    Siegfried: 359,998
    Double Rages: 533,332
    Serpent: 719,998

If you can kill the bosses with two other players, multiply the base by 1.5 giving you: (which is a 50% increase in gold)

    Mantis: 166,665
    Poison Pit: 299,998
    Siegfried: 449,998
    Double Rages: 666,665
    Serpent: 899,998

Now multiply those numbers by 1.xx and replace xx with the amount of “% gold” you have on your armor and backpack combined, which will give you how much gold you will earn for killing the bosses with that many players.

The base amount of gold will be cut in half each time you kill a boss, so for instance Mantis drops 111,110 gold, but the second time you kill him he will drop 55,555 gold and etc. though I don’t know for sure but I think you will eventually reach an amount of gold that won’t be cut in half, maybe after the 4th kill or so. Also keep in mind, that based on how many players ENTER the boss fight the boss’s HP will also increase. I’m guessing its something like a 20% increase in HP (because it’s a 20% increase in gold) for two people entering the boss fight and 50% for three players entering the boss fight.

Thanks, JK. I had seen that one, but that was before I thought about writing a guide.
I will add a link to it.

    ---
And Enjoo: IB2 is way longer than IB1. More locations, 3 weapon styles, more enemies, more story... And really fun to play now and then if you like that kind of thing.

Any particular reason you want to use the ability on the aliens in mantis? From my experience, everything dies quite easily there with the Windblade already...it works, but I just don't feel the need for it (I pull out a sniper on the bull)

Aliens on the other bosses? If you want, I suppose. Personally, I'm used to moving around with 5 speed, so I don't really use the ability on the aliens unless I wanna zip around for a bit, or the bull appears.

Should be considerably more dangerous when it's fully upgraded, but the charge up time may be annoying for a while against agile opponents...

A sniper? On the Mantis bull? Pfffft...

Realizing this will come as little surprise to people who know about my "play-style," I use a Windblade on the Mantis and PP bulls... from within the bull.:rolleyes:;):D

So, I have a weird question for the group... and I'm thinking the answer is pretty self-evident, but wanted to toss it out there.

I played a bunch of randoms last night, mostly to celebrate surviving a week of grueling classes. I'm happy to report that I didn't come across a single swordsman, aside from some low rank players who were assumedly trying to balance shooting with, you know, surviving.;):)

While attempting to complete a Siegfried match, I ended up in a room with a Rank 11 player and another Rank 12, which I've taken to doing to increase the odds of having two other players who will survive until the actual boss portion with weapons capable of actually damaging the higher level bosses.

The Rank 11 left the initial wave once, and I followed suit, to preserve my extra %. I ended up in another room with this player, he left early, I left early, another room, he left early, I left early, another room...

Finally made it to Siegfried with this player and one other, and he left the actual boss fight with Siegfried at about 3/4 health.

By all accounts, the fight was going well, and I and the other remaining player did eventually finish Siegfried and collect our rewards (sans Mithril for me, I know, shocking, right?).

Was the Rank 11 player experiencing connection issues? It's honestly the only viable reason I could think of for him leaving so many matches...

One way of discerning players who have connection issues is by checking whether they occasionally appear to be running on the spot, or whether they're standing still while enemies are just attacking them. If they're running, then they suddenly come to a stop and just vanish from the match, that looks more like they left deliberately.

In the example you cited though...yeah, I think that Rank 11 guy was having some connection issues. Poor guy, if that was actually the case for the first few rounds =.="

    -----------

Slashing the bull from inside out? I do that too when I'm bored :p

However...I'm a little less patient these days, so when I just want it to die ASAP...a railgun to the head, and it kneels over >.>

I don't have connection issues, so I leave only for 2 reasons:

    (1)someone leaves/dies in slime round.
(2)I accidentally press the huge escape button at the top right corner. happens more often than you think, cause that's where I put my index finger when I'm using my thumb for moving.

just describing my personal issue. not necessarily what really happened with that guy. weird one.
