No worries, we can do an easy run like survival in Lair where I can cover you. Spending your gold: Really depends. With "stage 3" do you mean the "Space Station" stages? If you feel you get a harder time surviving, invest in some better armor pieces. If you think you need more firepower, save up to further upgrade your FL334AR. But then I would recommend to get the backpack first. If you are on Space Station and need more cash, try the endless level. If you survive longer, you will see some nice jumps in the reward you get. Camp in the lower corner of the big central room, so that you see the enemy spawn portal opposite of you, the corridor leading off slightly to the left and in front of you, and to the right and in front the passages leading to the bridge/corridor thingie outside the central room.
Always welcome, DBC! Hope we can repeat that some other time. Unfortunately, as I wrote before, my schedule is really wonky due to real life stuff. Mostly I hop on for a few minutes when I go for a smoke, but I cannot really plan, say, if and when I might be able to spend an hour in the game, not to mention an hour without interruption You can drop a message in the Match Setup thread when you want a match. I always check there before starting/joining a random game. Think that is easiest. Definitely sounds familiar, unfortunately. Makes me wish there was friendly fire every time...
Wait, that was you? Oh man, I couldn't remember your tag! Yeah, I will run with you whenever we can arrange it. That, my friend, was an extremely fun, efficient, deadly, lucrative run... Thanks again for saving my night o). With the current workload I've got, you have no idea how helpful something as silly as playing a game can be... Oh, BTW, I told you Serpent isn't so tough... DBC
...HMMMM. Are you guys thinking what I'm thinking? Maybe it's time we requested another feature in Co-op matches we can toggle on and off as we want... ----------------------- On second thoughts, MAAAAYBE not such a good idea. Now I'm shuddering at the thought of Windblade trolls actually hacking their allies to death, or someone with a Crab shooting down a Trinity user that's taking too many of their kills standing on top of a spawn point...
Hi, I played this game the first few days when it was new, got a bit bored because it was so linear and IAP forcefull What have changed so far? What's better? What's worse? I see it got thousands of posts in this topic so that means its good . Thx in advance
Heya vibliribland...man, that was a tricky name to type o___O Game-wise, I think it's still quite linear. IAP is a little less pronounced now because of increased opportunities to earn mithril, but there are still issues with how mithril is dropped and distributed, for various reasons. More weapons and equipment have been added (obviously), as well as the addition of a few maps, bosses, and multiplayer modes (the most recent one being Capture the Flag). Now, here's the thing: the main driver of the ridiculous amount of activity in this thread isn't so much talk about the game, per se. Up until the last week or two, the main reason for the post count jumping up so much is because players have been meeting up here and organising to play together, which brings a cooperative and social dynamic to the game unique to participants in this thread. Sheinfell has recently created a separate players' group for match organisation (all are welcome, by the way ), so discussion here has shifted back to talk about weaponry, tactics, and banter here and there. Anyway...if the game still holds any interest for you, I'd suggest joining in on this thread and/or the players' group, if you're interested. It's pretty lively, especially if you happen to live in the US, from what it seems ------------ Edit: Hmm, okay, saying that "cooperation" is unique to players within this thread isn't technically accurate, since you can encounter random players who do their workload. It's a little different when you actually know the person you're playing alongside from somewhere, sorta.
Yeah, that was me. Always welcome to share the fun, DBC Glad I could make your day. Sidenote: Seems I cannot change my username here, or I would have done so already. Can anyone confirm if that is possible or not? I understand you perfectly well about "playing a silly game being helpful", I do not exactly have much spare time, either. Serpent: Right right, not so tough *if* you have at least one good teammate. Still the toughest one of the bunch for me, what with the poison and all that. Every other boss I can solo even with two do-nothings on the team, even just duking it out with the Double Rages isn't that hard. But Serpent...yeah yeah, catch me with your poison again, you oversized earthworm. I am still contemplating if I should get the FLOAT pack before the LIT07, just to make Serpent easier for me.
lol i just remembered that i killed a phoenex (sorry if i spelled that wrong) user with a CUTTER lvl 5 ahhhhh the golden days
User name... good question. Regarding the FLOAT Pack? My load-out has been covered pretty extensively, and most in the forum know me as a no-nonsense, get in, kill everything, get out, type of player, soooo... I say this, the only things you need to righteously dominate the Campaign and PvE portions of this game are a Level 8 WB, a Level 8 M-27B1, complete Perseus armor set, and some pack to carry your HCs in... IAH, I'm still considering the FLOAT. It's got slots, decent bonuses, I have a pile of Mithril and nothing else Mithril-based that I'm even remotely interested in, and even though I don't need it (as you saw last night), it does float, which means that added with all the other positives, I could just leave it on... You're not asking me specifically, but if you were? Yeah, I'd just go ahead and get it. DBC
I'm just gonna chime in: if I remember correctly, you guys (Sheinfell and DBC) were both fans of the Thunder Armour, correct? The FLOAT pack should bring some nostalgia back then -- while it won't give you a 50% power boost with its ability, it WILL let you zip around at the same speed the Thunder ability let you do so. While I don't think either of you really need the ability, it's definitely a fun toy, I don't think you guys would be disappointed
Me? Like the Thunder Armor set? Well, if you mean considering it the only other armor worth buying aside from the Perseus "liking" it, then yeah, I like it... So, with the FLOAT, I could essentially run-and-gun with the M-27B1? Looks like I might be spending some Mithril... DBC
Ah, lemme make sure I've got this clear: the FLOAT pack has an ability which will give you +2 speed for 30 seconds (60 second cooldown). Without the ability, it gives you +1 speed, so it's slightly slower than the STK if you don't activate it. While it's active though, you can literally run circles around a cluster of enemies for the heck of it. Yeah, you'd be quite literally running-and-gunning simultaneously with the speed ability active - it's sorta like watching a charging bull, except it's more like a charging chaingun-of-doom If you like that sort of speed, then the Cygni armour set might be something you want to look into...power-wise, it's completely rubbish, but equipping the full Cygni armour and then putting the STK on it will result in you moving at the same speed as a Perseus user with the FLOAT backpack's ability activated -- permanently. It's something you can do with your gold, if you're starting to build a small fortune and want to spend it on fun stuff. ...I think I can see where this is going. A freak ninja will be reborn if you try any of these set-ups with your Windblade...
A permanent 13 speed..... 14 for a while if you use the FLOAT. My oh my, what I could do with that... *Starts planning deviously* I may not be a swordie, but with that speed, my hidden talents are quite deadly
For me, it always comes down to efficiency (I know, shocking, right?)... Less time with an unsheathed WB during a boss fight means quicker death for my adversary with less concern for my own or my teammates' safety... 30 seconds that I'm able to blast away with a Hyperclipped Level 8 M-27B1 while moving at +1 and not worrying about poison? That's a lot of lower risk DPS... Cygni is Gold-based, eh? Well, unless Freyr introduces something I want that costs 400,000,000 in Gold... although you know how I feel about the power/expedience equation... What's the accumulative "upgrade to Level 8" cost on the Laser Cannon? DBC
I must confess, I do find the idea of max speed intriguing... Perhaps I could show you around the WB? DBC
My thoughts exactly. For me laziness also plays a big role If I do not have to worry about Serpent's poison and can keep blasting away at it, the fight just became alot easier in my book. The added speed for easier evasion is a nice icing on the cake. Oh, and the flying effect is permanent, afaik, not limited to the 30second power activation period. Will give the FLOAT a try before I go for the LIT07. As I lose only 10% power bonus compared to the STK, the additional firing time should make up for it. --- Addition: Undead, don't give me ideas. Such as attempting Serpent in Thunder Armor & FLOAT pack
Yeah, sorry if my post wasn't clear, the flying is permanent, the Speed temporary. Totally agree on power vs. firing time... to the point where I might be joining you in this purchase... I don't worry per se about the poison, but I do attempt to avoid it. If I'm +1 for Speed, HCed, and not paying attention to poison? Looks like I'm going to get a little poorer, but more FLOATy... DBC
Sheinfell: Yeah, you're right, the floating/poison-negation is a permanent effect of the backpack. The reusable ability is +2 speed for 30 seconds. DBC: I can't recall if someone has the calculated costs for the Laser Cannon, but if they do, it's somewhere in the first...90 pages of this thread or so. The only thing I can tell you for certain is that the LAST upgrade costs $18 million. Partial figures for the upgrade cost of the Crab already place it at over $30 million from the last 3 upgrades alone <source: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=2176486&postcount=465>. Going from that, I wouldn't be surprised if the Laser Cannon's upgrade costs actually breached the $40 million mark, seeing how its final upgrade exceeds the cost of the Crab. Efficiency-wise, yeah, I'd agree with you: the FLOAT pack will go a long way towards ensuring a steady dps output with the ability to ignore poison AND zoom away from Serpent's melee attacks without releasing the trigger. The Thunder Armour can make Serpent die quicker, but that's risky play: you can only absorb about four or five hits during the enemy rush phase, while a lagging Serpent might be all it takes to knock you out of the match. As fun as I find that, don't try that unless you're particularly bored -- too much risk for efficient play.
SHHHH...upper management prefers to call it "efficiency". Don't forget the 10% gold, you'll like that I...sorta did that already. Except with the SAM pack instead of the speedy FLOAT pack. Now YOU'RE giving me ideas...
we should fix up a time someday and we all should play a little ctf, ffa, or tdm. i think we have more than enough players and it would be fun.
