I have to say, my laser cannon is quite the killer when paired with my sniper rifle. I'm pretty good with sharpshooting at long distance, so I almost always make my first shot. On the low rank players, my cannon makes quick 2-3 second work of them. On Andromedae/Cygni/Perseus users, I take aim, snipe them once (Deals around 70% HP damage to even the best armors) and by the time they turn to face me, they're short/mid range cannon fodder.

What's your response to hit-and-run tactics? Granted, if the player in question keeps hiding behind the same spot, you can probably snipe them when they next pop their head out, but I'm talking about when a player hides behind some architecture with multiple exit points (e.g. running behind the stairs in Ancient Vision).

I have found running around an enemy with a trinity is easier than any other gun, why, it shoots a wide spread when your enemy is rotating his laser cannon trying to kill me and failing, also the explosions make it for both of us hard to see but my target is stationary.

This also works with projectile enemies and bulls...

I seriously hate sniping because whenever anyone tries to snipe me I run randomly making the shots avoidable...
But from an actual long range it is good...
My armor is powerful in PvP...
    Not just perseus anyjore.:p
I'm like undead.exe all cool with hybrid armor.:p;):eek::):D
My power is almost 1.7 of my actual displaying weapon power.

Hard to snipe, notice a pattern
I can't snipe so that is all I can say.
Superion seems a lot bettewr than me.:(

JediKnight, do you use any other weapons during PvP? Because I found the Trinity to be more of a close-range ambush weapon: it's best suited for surprising enemies in corridors, but it's HIGHLY ineffective if you run out in the open. The 60-degree mid-range tactic you were talking about doesn't sound like it'd work in PvP, because player characters move significantly faster than the aliens in PvE -- and they're probably not running right towards you, unless they're trying to hack at you with a Windblade >.>

Also, if you were wondering...something tells me Superion is a mid- to long-range fighter in PvP, judging from what he wrote. You might have a little more difficulty ambushing his Laser Cannon with the Trinity >.>

I don't use the sniper so much in PvP, but I CAN do it, to some extent. Pinpoint sniping isn't the reason I use the railgun though - I use it to line up multiple enemies at once in PvE, so there's a good chance my style of sniping varies from Superion's.

On that note, I prefer weapons that disorientate and cause players to panic -- those one or two seconds are usually when I capitalise and try to take them out before they do too much damage to me.

60 degrees is long range, not midrange, I don't do midrange, I do close if I am in midrange.

But yes I also use M-2781 for some reason... Power 1190 every 0.17 seconds is not to be laughed at, it seems more... Anyways my armor in PvP vs his his armor makes my M-2781 alnost the same powerful then get in close range and kill him...

Explosions or sudden line of death(snipe or laser cannon)
    Bullets don't look menacing...

My skill is really to before I start doing well, I run a few matches and memorize the map layout. With such a situation, the Laser Cannon's stability and range make it a great mid-semi long range weapon, allowing me to move back and assess the exits, then firing when said player steps out. As for my sniping style, I like to take advantage of players who are either occupied or who don't notice me. As for the strategy of sniping, I'm rather patient for my targets, to the point I let my target kill off a teammate so I can ensure a shot. I then take those few seconds (Where the player inspects the kill) to quickly pick the player off and then finish him before he even realizes what happens.

It's not the "look" of the weapon I'm after. I'm trying to knock off a good chunk of the opponent's HP within a second -- THAT'S what I mean by making the opponent panic, because continued exposure to that level of damage will kill them, prompting them to either turn around and shoot at you (a battle which you will win, provided you're not on critical health already), or scramble for cover. The Nova's usually enough for me to pick players off like that if they're not close enough to a decent escape route.

I'm actually not that fond of the railgun or the laser cannon because it becomes glaringly obvious where you're attacking from, due to their high-intensity graphics -- which gives away your location to other opponents. Personally, I don't think it's that obvious with the laser gun projectiles, but I might need to re-evaluate that when I next go into a PvP match.

Agree actually, crab qis also kind of obvious, I think LIT is good for this actually, but so is M-2781 so nevermind. More power than a basic snipe more than 5 times a second is is is just wow.

...players inspect their kills? Now that is just plain foolish...nice way to take out a sitting duck, eh? :p

I'm guessing you don't really like running in narrow spaces, right? Unless you've got a third weapon in PvP that we don't know about >.>

    ------------

For the record, while I like to consider myself a relatively all-round type of player in PvP, it's not that hard to take me out in multiplayer -- all you need to do is get the jump on me where I can't hide, and I'll quite possibly die by the same tactics I just described >.>

The main thing about the M-27 I don't like in PvP matches is the amount of footspeed you lose. I saw the hybrid armour you use on the loadout thread, and you'd really have to kill opponents before they can hide when you're moving too slowly. That, and I thought they nerfed the M-27's damage in PvP -- does it actually seem as powerful as you think it should be?

What do you use in PvP... Superion could probably take both of us out ... I admit, laser cannon is wicked in his hands...

Yeah but they also nerf good armor, so 63000 of superions armor turns to less than 25,000 when they Nerf my armor less.

Also bad armor is scaled up so maybe thats the problem because I killed a perseus user in 3 seconds when I took 1.5 seconds with a complete starter, this makes my head explodes over and over,
    Pheonix 3 seconds too...

Besides my speed is still 7, and wont be able to escape out of a death ray if I had speed 9... On most maps the laser cannon gets blocked except... Ancient vision in the open... Where I am never in, Superion will find me standing in a shower of bullets....

I haven't written this in the equipment loadout thread, because this is something I only use for PvP (which I rarely play), but the gear I use in PvP is (I just came back and amended my loadout list):

    • Full Cygni Armour
    • STK backpack
    • Nova-27 (primary weapon)
    • Black Stars
    • RPG-31 (currently trying to use as a pair with Black Stars)
    • Windblade
    • Trinity (may not always bring)
    • R700-AA (may not always bring)

Basically, I bring a LOT of weaponry into PvP, but my first 3 weapons are what I most commonly use. I might switch the Windblade with the Trinity soon, depending on how many Perseus users there are, but I'm usually playing around with my weapons for the heck of it. If I'm playing seriously (which is quite rare on PvP, because I just play that to muck around), I'll probably lower the number of weapons I load out, so it becomes easier to switch between them.

That's...generally why you'd want to have a few people attacking the flag holder, right? :p

And if there are that many Perseus users, I'll either have to ditch the Windblade, or save it as a weapon for non-Perseus users. Hmm...

    -------------------

I think I've thought of a rather novel and expensive way of making rocket launchers downright scary at mid-range: I've loaded out BOTH mithril launchers one after another, and I tried firing one RPG while the other was reloading, and then switching between them in a continuous cycle.

A bit impractical if you're making your iDevice shake a bit by switching weapons while holding down the fire button, but if you're leaning against a stand which steadies your iDevice...uh-oh. :p

    ------------------

Superion, have you thought about applying that weapon switching technique to the two railguns? I get the impression that the amount of tapping would make it downright impossible to perform properly, but the theoretical damage output if you could use the snipers as a pair is horrifying. Long story short, if there was someone who could actually switch and fire a sniper while the other one was reloading, the damage output actually exceeds that of the Laser Cannon -- and I mean the cannon's damage output without its charge up and cooldown times.

...actuallly...I just went and tested out the combination, and it might not be impossible after all. I might go test this technique out on a boss when I have some time...
