As intriguing as that sounds, I have doubts about Freyr programming something that complex in - otherwise, we would have likely seen a type of alien which has a special weak point where damage is doubled, or something. Modifying the barrier/hitbox physics like that sounds like it'd take a level of programming that doesn't fit with what we've seen so far. All the same though, it's an idea worth testing out. It might apply to the roller bugs as well, because their shields look very similar to the Mantis ones, albeit quite a bit smaller. The Mantis can DEFINITELY be killed while its shield is up - Asdeasde97 confirmed this a while ago, and I've actually noticed the Mantis's HP bar moving when I tried to shoot at its shield while solo-ing Double Rages - you'll notice it more on the Purple Mantis than the Green one though, simply because of the HP difference. Still...it's incredibly annoying when the shield weakens the M-27 so much that it feels like you're using a Windblade on the giant insect =.="
The shield is the same as the droideka roller and I killed it midway and seeing the green mantis's hp bar moving as well, didn't kill it but got it to move, the power of 3 hyperclipped M-2781 is underestimated...
Yeah, that might explain why you're getting hit from behind if you're only covering 60 degrees in 3-4 seconds. Try killing everything in front of you, and then walking INTO the spot where the aliens were just standing while turning around to check your back.
Uuuhhhmmm... speaking of nicknames... has anyone checked out the "Shellrazer" thread? Undead.exe has been COPYRIGHTED! DBC
Link plz I was using Ctrl-F on "undead", and didn't find anything. Then I took a look at the pictures in the first post, and I get what you're saying now... Sheinfell! Check out the Shellrazer thread! I think it's our cousin o___O
No that is if I am on long range, if in close range I can cover A LOT more, like 120 per 2 seconds but I get hit more often on Normal mantis for some reason... Not like care with 64000 hp...
Just looked at the Shellrazer video. Not my kind of game, mostly due to the crappy graphics. But the war turtle looks funny as hell
Watch a few matches with me. I manage to cover 360 degrees, and rarely do I ever get hit. I would think the Trinity is even easier, seeing as it covers such a wide range+ splash damage. But, its not for me to judge. Everyone has different tactics.
I repeat this is at long range which is not trinity s specialty, I am usually at close range cover 180 degrees 3-4 seconds when it is spread out and explode making it 360 degrees, but in long range, it isn't as good, 60 degrees still goes a long ways if it is placed coreectly accordingly to the xplosion...
So guys, weird experience? I just looked at my mountain of GC friend requests for the first time in a while, and I got an invite from someone who specified SW in the request, along with asking me how I got my rank? Weird, right? Do you think the player was asking me if I bought it? DBC
I'm not too sure about that, although I'd have to agree with Jedi - definitely someone who either doesn't have the patience to grind bosses, or perhaps someone who doesn't have the means to do so yet (i.e. weak weapons and armour). By that logic, that friend request might have come from one of the newbies who was enthusiastically shooting at Mantis with a rifle alongside you
Equipment loadouts? So, I remember seeing people request the ability to save our favourite "equipment loadouts" as a desired feature in the game. Just out of question, are you guys willing to share exactly what sort of equipment you usually bring into matches? These are my two most common variants for PvE boss runs: -------------------------- 1. Gold-farming/Camping Turtle loadout: Armour: Phoenix Head Cygni Chest Andromedae Arms Andromedae Legs Pack: SAM-005-I M-27B1 Hyper Clip R700-AA Windblade (yes, I DO actually use this thing) Hyper Clip -------------------------- 2. Thunder Armour/"I-just-want-to-kill-things" loadout: Armour: Full Thunder Armour set. Pack: STK-06-ZZ/SAM-005-I M-27B1 Hyper Clip Hyper Clip Laser Cannon/Windblade Giant Health/Hyper Clip (Giant Health is usually for Double Rages and its projectiles) Hyper Clip (6th slot only present when I'm using the STK)
confirmed. tried that by getting rank 2 and 7 guys with me at the level with two horrifying vertebrates. as predicted, the rank 2 got popped by the endless slimy creatures, and rank 7 got mugged by the vertebrate. if it's this way, it's actually acceptable, cause the purple vertebrate won't get glued to his perch. and it won't make people leave weak ones to die to the slimy-bug round, just to get a health deduction for the boss. there are people like that.
I think it's funny about the difference between the double-vertebrate and dino-snake slimy rounds. in the former one, people just go mow down everything on their own. in the latter, I usually see all the perseus's and andromedae's pack together at a corner in the form of a laser/chaingun/general three-headed freak. sometimes along with glowing red auras. cool.
I have seen both approaches on both the DR and the Serpent level (guess those are the two you mean). My observation is that people who run off on their own - especially on DR, mostly into the big central chamber - take *alot* more damage than us turtles who camp in a good spot and kill everything that comes into range. Unfortunately, alot of players seem not to get it, e.g. even when I stand right in front of them and then slowly back away toward the campspot they do not follow. And a few minutes later they come running with a trail of aliens at their back, because they took too much damage out in the open and it gets too risky for them to stay there. On DR, it works wonders when all 3 players turtle up in the camp spot and lay down a fire curtain with M27 machineguns. On one match we killed the Bull in maybe a second, with 3 M27 blasting away at it. On Serpent it is a bit harder because the aliens spawn very close to you. What works best is having all players close together in one corner of the long corridor, with two covering 90 degrees each and the third being backup, firing at anything that the other 2 cannot catch and prioritising tougher aliens like the purple variants.
To make it easier to find the posted loadouts again, I created a new thread in the SW Group, named "Equipment Loadouts Showcase" : http://forums.toucharcade.com/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=436 If you post your loadouts here in the main thread, please put a copy on the showcase as well.
Hey all, i'm new but I've been lurking for a couple of days now, learning quite a bit. I've just got Star Warfare, looks very good and all that, I was just wondering if anyone has a link to a decent beginner's guide? Thanks. Edit: Btw I've got 70k and haven't made any upgrades yet, so I'm wondering what to buy first, or whether I should just wait to unlock better items.
Hi there, and welcome. I am working on a guide, but that will take a few days at least until it is presentable. Everyone here was really helpful and added so much content I cannot keep up Give me a bit of time and I can PM you my notes and links to several posts here that cover various subjects. Feel free to join our TA Group as well: http://forums.toucharcade.com/group.php?groupid=559 We have a thread for match setups there, and the players' guide will have its home there, too. How far are you into the game? If you are just starting out, I recommend that you take things slow at first. Play the offline levels to get a feel for the game: Enemies, weapon, armors, get to know the level layouts, etc. Unless you are only checking a level out, always bring a healing item for emergencies, and as soon as you encounter the bulls (you will know when you see one), a hyperclip is also a good idea. The Assault Rifles are good weapons for starters, and the FL334AR can get you all the way up to midgame. If you have any questions, just ask away in the meantime.
