The people gathering on this forum and over on the player's group are all powerful players who can pull their weight, but, as Sheinfell mentioned, "we're but a small drop in the ocean". The actual game mechanics are really going to need some tweaking to ensure that people are actually staying alive to be supportive to their teammates, rather than staying alive PURELY for their own needs. DBC, those of us on here on TA are all quite competent and contributive (or I should very much hope and believe so, from the people I've played alongside), so if you ever go into this game and want to guarantee yourself team players, just say the word over on the player's group! Otherwise, it might be a good idea to put the game down for a little while if it's frustrating you too much. If you're just hanging around on this thread to chat to us though, we love your company

I've been playing it a little bit here and there Finally got enough gold to upgrade my M-27 and WB to MAX them out ...I also have full Perseus and Thunder suits plus Andromedae legs and Cygni chest so....Hoorah I think!!! Have played some more incredibly painful random games and it's a joke Especially yesterday when I was the last survivor two games in a row against Siegfried and I defeated the boss both times and each time I pressed continue to receive my rewards the game crashed at the precise same time Freyr owes me well over a million gold and Mithril but I'm with you I feel like I've done all I can with this game right now I don't want to keep killing the same things over and over again and I don't need anymore Mithril!!! So I'm resting the game and just having fun playing other games!!! Off topic/ I got a response from Jeppe about BTHD The advice was to free my device from some games I tried but the game keeps crashing so I guess that's that There's always angry birds.... Oh Gawd, first Shienfell and now you? You guys can stop worrying about me, it's only a game... Seriously, between Grad School and everything else in my life, this game frankly isn't all that important. I play games to relax due to a stressful career, and when games aren't relaxing, they don't tend to last long. Be very clear, the only reason I waste time discussing this game is the possibilities it holds. It does so many things right, I just wish it was more enjoyable to play overall. I do hope the community continues to grow... I would absolutely love to play with people from the forum, but with school ramping up in under a week, I'm not sure how that's going to work. I look forward to whatever you guys come up with! Speaking of wasted opportunities, you guys ever spend any time just running around when you get stuck just before a boss battle? I took a stroll through the valleys of Lair... ...I saw a LOT of dead bugs. I am never taking another casual stroll in this game. Yes, I hate bugs. I think my reaction towards the spiders on BTHD already gave that away for you >.<
And awh, I am gone for like 5 minutes, and now I have a hard time digesting all the stuff you folks wrote for a reply or two General reply on the community thing, educating players, new game content, etc. : Yes, this game needs more content to keep people interested in the long run. More normal aliens, a few more bosses, whathaveyou. Yes, the Mithril drops need to be a bit more fair. Yes, we need a way to get players away from being total morons (swordwavers, looking at you!) and playing this game like a singleplayer shooter that happens to have a few other dudes around, to a more community-like and "help each other" approach. The only way I see for this is to make real teamplay pay off much more than "singleplayer multi". But I cannot come up with any good idea that could not be abused or exploited to a degree where it actually hurts what it tried to strengthen. And...I do not see the majority of the players change. Unpleasant truth, but most of them *are* complete selfish jerks & morons. Don't believe me? Go to the SW wiki and read some of the comments there. Feels like kindergarten, except I do not want to insult the youngsters that actually go there. Serious, my little one is less of a spoiled brat than some of what I saw over there. I really do not see any chances to turn that kind of player into a better one. Because basically that would mean turning them into better *persons*... Also, I think that part of our problem is that, aside from being teamplay-oriented, we are *good* . Think about it. Will a lousy player recognise that he is playing with 2 more of his kind on what we consider a "bad" level? Most likely not. After all, how could he? Will one of those sword jerks even care about behaving differently? Most likely not, cause he is "teh pwnerer, sh0w1ng 4ll teh luzers how it's done." I don't like closing on a sad note (nor do I like sounding old and grumpy and going "back in the old days everything was better" :> ), but here you go: I have over 20 years of online gaming experience. I started with MUDs when I was 13 or so. The good thing in the old times was that internet access was a rare thing. These days, it feels like every jerk has a computer with online access, and uses online multiplayer games to live out his fantasies of being the uberchampion, and be a general pain for everyone he comes across (yes, that kind of person is almost exclusively male). I stopped playing MUDs due to time constraints, but also because a good community like we have here became increasingly harder to find. For the same reason, I always stayed away from games like World of Warcraft, or e.g. online shooters. On the positive side, my experiences taught me to value such a community even more. All much-needed improvements to the game aside, we should enjoy what we have here, and make the best of it. If only one other good teamplayer joins us per month, that is already more than you find in most other places.
Hi Sheinfell Excellent comments you're making!!!! I think that a big reason also why there is so little teamwork is because the presence of player vs player mode When I started playing this game again a little while ago I was kind of turned off by PvsP I don't play it I will only play to squash the aliens and hope for teamwork and fair rewards after a battle and this happen so infrequently that the game is too frustrating!! Freyr should maybe get rid of PvsP and take a fresh look and direction It just might win more people over
Actually, I bought my rank....... don't criticize me! Just be glad that i'm not bad, or at least I think i'm not bad. I bought it so i could get the better gear.
At least you've actually GOT the skill to back up the rank you have -- most of the other players who I suspect bought their ranks are utterly horrendous =.="
Personally, I don't think PvP really affects the quality of teamwork in the co-op modes: they feel like two completely different arenas to me, and I'm not sure I'd be less supportive towards someone in my team if we had just been trying to take each other down in PvP. I think the problem is that boss runs are designed such you're still bringing your own personal ammo in, and it's actually possible to run out of ammo mid-match if you're careless enough not to periodically restock it. I'm about 95% sure that all sword-swinging morons will actually try and SHOOT the boss if they didn't have to spend money on ammo -- in fact, I'd actually go as far as saying that Freyr should consider REMOVING the ammo count from the game completely, and refund 150 mithril to players who have spent it on the Freedom backpack. They might have to readjust all the gold drops to account for the fact that we no longer have ammo expenses, but I wouldn't mind that if it meant that freeloading was eradicated because it no longer had any value (i.e. if there was no longer any ammo cost to save on).
