Regarding the Freedom backpack: I've seen people camp on certain spots and continuously spray either an M-27 or a Crab at anticipated spawning points. It DOES arguably have some use if you're trying to compete with your teammates for alien kills, but that can be counteracted if people move elsewhere on the map to modify the spawning pattern. And...good lord, whoever wrote that wiki entry is a compulsive freeloader (and clearly did not grasp a proper sense of ammo management). Let's hope sword-swingers from that wiki eventually find their way over here, and realise the error and inefficiency of their ways =.="
I have to test this again after the next counter reset (tomorrow+). I could not remember how many online Mantis fights I had today, but at least two. Nor do I know if I had any offline fights already today. Anyways, the numbers themselves are interesting. I used the Thunder Armor to minimise gold bonus (+10% only). No gold bonus from pack. 1) 1st offline fight: 91k gold 2) 1st online fight: 30.555 (second fight of my test) 3) 2nd offline: 45k 4) 2nd online: 30.555 5) 3rd offline: 22.916 It seems as if the online and offline bosses might have different maximum rewards.
Fun fight Couldn't resist to pull this one. Too bad I cannot see the faces of the random guys on the team against Mantis. 2 players with expensive gear (Windblade, big Mithril armors, etc) ; and one innocent looking dude in Thunder armor and a meager FL334AR assault rifle...who blows up aliens twice as fast as they do, even trying to hold back as much as possible. Time for the bossfight: The harmless dude suddenly pulls out a huge chaingun, starts to glow red and yellow and shreds the Mantis apart in a few seconds, before they can get more than two swings from their Windblades out
The numbers you've got above appear to suggest that that's indeed the case. Based on Mantis alone, this is what I'm guessing: Online: Base gold is 111,110. Second drop is 50% of this, while third drop onwards is fixed at 25%. Offline: Base gold is 83,333 (or 111,110 x 75%). From there, drop percentages vary in the same manner as online bosses, but are a separate counter. ------------ Also, Sheinfell: I bet those two randoms were "thunder"-struck
Mumble/voice-chatting For mods who might be reading this: this post discusses a workaround which may allow in-game communication by means of voice chatting. It is NOT intended as spam or advertising, but if it breaches some guidelines, please edit or remove this post and clarify your guidelines for me. ----------------- I haven't seen Felder in a while, but for those of you who don't know what Mumble is: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/FAQ#What_is_Mumble.3F Long story short, it allows voice-chatting over a server. Felder previously set up a server of his own, but I've been looking into it, and there are places which offer to host a Mumble server for free, with some limitations: http://mumble.sourceforge.net/Hosters Now...from what I've seen, there are no free hosters in Australia, which is why I haven't created one myself. It might be a little more useful for those of you who want to talk to fellow players online during your same game. From what I've seen, both "MyMumble" and "Mumble4You" allow you to create free servers allowing up to 5 people to talk at once. The idea behind voicechatting is that you download the Mumble app onto the same iDevice you're playing SW from, and then run it in the background while playing the game so you can talk to people. Now, the thing I've realised from playing this game is that there's generally very little need for us to talk to each other during the game if we all know what we're doing. But it's quite possible for you to use it with other friends in other games, I imagine, if you created your own personal server that you tell people to join when you're about to play in the same room. Anyway, just some food for thought, if you guys were interested!
Oh, g'day mate ...no, we don't all speak like that >.> But now you know why I'm online at the strangest hours, relative to everyone else on here ----------- Edit: I've currently got a test server with Mumble4You, hosted in Europe (somewhere...). If anyone wants to try testing it out when we next go on a boss run, let me know, and I'll tell you the login details (you'll also need the Mumble app on your iDevice).
Sorry, I simply do not have the time to investigate a Mumble server setup If anyone else gives it a shot, I will definitely hop on and try how it works.
I just figured out the absolute basics from Mumble4You, (i.e. how to figure out the port and address of your server so you can get ONTO it >.>) so if you want to create a server for yourself and then direct people onto it, ask me Also, probably won't be running Mumble tonight, seeing how it's nearly midnight over here, but it's definitely something I'd be willing to test out on a future bossrun, if anyone's interested
It just occurred to me that my server doesn't appear to NEED to go offline...so if anyone wants to test out chatting on Mumble while playing a match, PM me -- I'll send you the address and port details that you'll need. Note that you will probably need to invite someone else along too, or you won't have anyone to talk to (midnight here, don't really want to wake the house by conversing with an iPad )
You should go catch some sleep, undead Won't have time today, but I definitely should be able to grab an hour or so for testing Mumble on the weekend. If anyone else is up for it then, just let me know. Meanwhile, in a different place: I just sent an email to Freyr, asking if they can add two features: 1) sell or hide unwanted equipment 2) saving 2-5 equipment loadouts for quick changing between them, e.g. money gear and damage gear. I saw you folks mention selling stuff here in the thread somewhere, but cannot remember if anyone asked Freyr to add it, so I just put it in. And saving equipment sets for quick changing would make our lives quite a bit easier.
Funny, I've wondered this same thing regarding lower level swordsmen... the Wiki certainly explains some of the sadly misguided behaviors I've witnessed lower Rank players engaging in... There are players who post here who seem to like the Freedom Pack. Having seen it in use, I can see the benefit to owning it, especially when paired with weapons that have higher energy draws... DBC
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I just wanted to say hi and to ask if anyone is online for a boss fight because I'm itching to fry Serpent
Yes, I like it because you can spray and kill everyone. You don't have to wait fit the machine gun's startup time
LMAO... Equipment changes for me? Perseus, Windblade, M-27, 3 Hyperclips, 1 +25,000 HP (just in case), all in an STK Pack... done. My motto? Simple is better. Simple, efficient, and extremely deadly? Best. DBC
My pack Perseus, M-2781 , Trinity, 3Hyperclips, 1 25,000 health pack except serpent, then I use the blade master and the game autochanges my pack correctly because my 25,000 pack my third slot.
You should try the STK with Serpent... I used to switch packs, but players kept bringing toy guns (anything other than the M-27 or the Laser Cannon) into the fight, so I really wanted the extra HC in case I had to do all the heavy lifting, and even though I've only had to use one +25,000HP so far (post-Perseus), the $40,000 investment on a $1,000,000 pay-out seems foolish. Honestly, I love the Blademaster, but it's pretty unnecessary IMHO. The Perseus gives me plenty of HP, and the extra HC has saved many a failed run when my teammates finally died after making menacing gestures at Serpent for 10 minutes with their shiny sling-shots... The poison really isn't that hard to dodge, especially considering the range of the M-27... DBC
