Hmm...anyone here think we could do with some sort of dual wielding in the game? Dual pistols do look a bit out of place, but I'm thinking about some sort of backpack with two specialised weapon slots -- with the exception of certain overkill weapons (e.g. chainguns, laser cannons, and probably anything that would realistically require two hands to hold), any two weapons you put in those two slots would be dual-wielded when selected :p

Another way the above idea could be done is with some sort of expensive, permanent item you have to buy, which then has to be placed in your backpack to dual wield weapons. Anyway...the main idea is that this might allow currently redundant weapons to actually have some use. If you were to able to use the FL334AR alongside the Nova, for instance, you'd actually end up with a combination that does more damage than the Crab (2912dps vs 2333dps), while almost costing the same to fire as the M-27 (chaingun costs 235.29eps, while FL334AR/Nova costs 236.0eps).

The main issues I can think of with this proposal is how we're meant to aim (the camera angle in SW is designed for a right-handed person firing a single gun, not sure how it'd look firing two weapons from that angle), and perhaps the exact weapon combinations allowed. Any thoughts from you guys? (Yeah, you're also welcome to flame it to hell if you don't like the idea at all >.>)

What you really ask for is more firepower, I'd think :)
I don't think dual wielding fits this game. For me, it would just look awkward.

What could work is mounting a weapon on the backpack. Put a weapon in the "mount" slot in the backpack, which not all packs would have. Some weapons (like the Machineguns and the Lasercannon) would not be back-mountable.
The easiest solution is that it is slaved to your hand-held weapon. You fire, both weapons shoot at what you target.
More complicated solution: Have an extra fire button for the back-mounted weapon. This would make sense for slower weapons like the Rocketlaunchers or the Sniperrifles.

For simplicity's sake, I prefer option 1: both weapons shooting when you fire.

After about an hour of testing I tend to agree.
I played with highest control setting and M27B machinegun.
    My observation:
When I really concentrate on keeping my firing thumb still, I can keep the M27 perfectly still and on target. Even slightest movements (e.g. muscle twitching, change in pressure applied) result in the "bucking" I described.
I will play a while on medium control setting again, and report my observations.

Another thing I noticed, still working on reproducing it to my satisfaction:
Aiming/shooting with my firethumb and at the same moving the view around with swipes of another finger sometimes results in the view spinning and tumbling around wildly.
Best way I found to demonstate it so far, on high control setting:
Aim/fire with your firethumb, then slide it slowly upwards until part of your thumb is on the touchscreen outside of the right joystick area. Then move the thumb slightly to the left/right.
Admittedly this is quite easy for me to do, as I have rather large fingers. On my iPad2, the upper half of my thumb covers the joystick completely in height, and leaves only two small slices uncovered on the left/right.

The firing in random directions at the beginning of a bossfight that undead.exe mentions seems to be a different issue. I only observed this myself a few times. My current idea is that it is caused by you still moving when the battle changes to the boss stage.
However, currently I cannot reproduce/cause the issue at will.

There's a bug in this game
Turn on game to collect bonus which was 2 Mithril
Then I played one random mantis game and got one more Mithril plus 250,000 approx.
Then the game crashed when I pressed continue
I reopened the game and I lost all three Mithril I gained ....I had 43 and it went down to 41!!!!
    And I lost the gold
    Come on Freyr
Time to go back on my break!!!!

I hought about this before, pistols would look so out of place, maybe an arm attachment (like jango fett;)) like a dart shooter or a flamethrower or something. Or a small gun mounted on a big gun or or or...

I'll agree with Undead, seeing as its either you not ued to the weapon, or the touchscrewn being problematic. I have to say though, I hold the exact contrary of your opinion. I play SW on both an iPad and iPhone, and for me, even on the lowest sensitivity, rifles and other weapons are a nightmare to wield and aim for me. Being an expert in Laser Cannonry, (Circular point defense, anyone?) I have absolutely no trouble at any sensitivity with heavy weapons, (I.e the cannon, the M2781, and such) which I find personally to be the most stable and effective weapons in my entire arsenal. (which is extremely large, considering my bankroll)

No matter which way they could decide to implement it, if not dual plasma pistols or other preset weapons, the only way they would introduce a realistic dual wield skill would have to be mithril costing. I say the most common ideas are: Armor abilities that allow for a limited dual wield, expensive consumables that allow for a dual wield, or possibly a bad pack with bad stats which allows the use of dual weapons. I agree that also dual laser cannon/M2781/heavy weapons/bows (Who do you know can dual fire rpgs or bows?) are unrealistic and would essentially break the PvP/fair mechanics l, but rifles, shotguns, laser rifles, and possibly newer and smaller weapons should be able to be dual wielded. I myself prefer the idea of having an auto-targeting turret that sits on your back (pack bonus?) and shoots nearby enemies, although the weapon damage should be thirded or quartered to prevent freeloaders from entering a game and then leaving their device for 10 minutes, coming back, and collecting their bonus.

I'm not sure I'd trust an auto-targeting turret myself on PvE, actually, (I'm assuming they'd have to build some inaccuracy into the targeting algorithm, which implies wasted ammo :p) but it'd be a pretty good indicator of when enemies are trying to blindside you, if you're not using earphones :p

Also, "who do you know who can dual fire rpgs?" If you've played Halo 2 or 3, go take a look at how Elites hold the human rocket launcher, or a fuel rod gun. You can't actually dual-wield either weapon in the game, but if an Elite can operate a rocket launcher with a single arm... o___O

    ----------

Darthguy: while we're at it with the arm attachments, I'd VERY much like to throw in some of the weaponry on Ironman's suit of armour, if it weren't for the fact that copyright would send that particular idea straight to the bin >.>

These are great ideas but if freyr doesn't do it it doesn't matter right? Because the weapons we already have are enough and these ideas kind of change everything unlike other weapons. It would be cool though, if you could a sword/weapon kind of thing, a sword on a gun and when you shoot the sword could wave, it would look terrible but could be cool... Could be...

Haven't heard of Marvel or the Avengers movie? o___O

I confess that I've never really read any of the Marvel comics, but Ironman had some pretty damned crazy gear in his movie incarnations. Google it, and check out the movies if you're interested :p

Also...I think I could actually do with some sort of back-mounted minigun with lower damage but a higher firing rate, now that I've come across this pic again :p

Come to think of it...some back-mounted weaponry could be fun to shake things up. The problem is exactly as you said, Darthguy: the weapons we have right now ARE indeed enough, and there's nothing really forcing us to change up our strategy or playstyles.

On that note...I think we could use some new aliens who move EXTREMELY fast compared to the enemies we already have -- this could render the M-27 and laser cannon far less effective because of their one-second charge-up time. The Trinity could be an effective weapon against such an enemy provided you don't leave your back open, but what I'm getting at is that shaking up the dynamics might be good for the game.

There's no way Freyr would be able to implement an idea like this too quickly, but I'd think it's a worthwhile consideration if they still want to work on SW, and haven't moved onto developing another game. As for whether they'll read these ideas? Emailing them is the best way to ensure they see it, but I actually told them to check out this thread in my last email to them, so who knows if they're scanning...

One that can teleport close-ish to you and then move extremely fast, then my playstyle is good and even suoerion won't work.:p
This is a wierd idea but some kind of pet robot that you can upgrade would be pretty darn cool.;):D

What would be cool would be a missile the locks on to a target that always hits it, but is slow

I can aim with a bazooka well, no need for that really... And also you couldn't choose which enemy to hit and with bazookas I shoot in between 2 enemies so they both die...

Homing missiles ARE pretty fun, I'll admit, but we'll need a suitable enemy to use them on; I usually see lock-on missiles being used on vehicles and large aircraft, and the only two things which come close to that description are Mantis and Siegfried.

Come to think of it, I wanna feed that prehistoric parrot a missile for lunch...

You obviously haven't seen me in action very often. My laser cannon isn't my only specialty, you know. And off-topic here, regarding new weapon ideas, instead of implementing dual wield, how about they implement specialized effect grenades? They can come in different varieties: Explosive, Incendiary, Freezing, Stunning, and can be bought via consumable shop. They would add a nice twist to the game, being able to effectively crowd control or buy you some time to regroup a party.

But you use it the most, and I bet I can trinity better than you, NOT laser cannon though. >.<:p
the grenade ideas are great, I have to admit, but grenades are not powerful against serpent enemies so I was thinking a weapon like this:
    Flamethrower
    Power:250
    Fire Rate: .20
Poisons the ground and fire stays on the enemy (3 seconds) if gets out of fire and shoots for 20 seconds with 5 second cooldown time and has the range of the longest grenade launcher. Fires continuously like laser cannon. Thoughts?
This is like the laser cannon with fire and less cooldown time but has range, cost around 200 mithril?
