DBC: long story short, you'll need to be able to fire your chaingun for about 8.5 seconds for a hyper clip to be cost effective. On those grounds, don't use one against Mantis if you have another level 8 chaingunner with you, but keep using them against Poison Pit. The cost is fairly negligible given your current turnover, though. Superion: Hey, let the turtle have his hill, and the disco-ball can be as flashy as he wants on the dancefloor >.> Is everyone playing more with randoms rather than forum members these days?
Thanks for the info on the HCs. Am I going to have to separate you two? Yes. Mad, sad, and happy, in order of explanation: Mad: Suffice it to say, I don't have quite the same great luck Darthguy seems to have with randoms. Sad: Pretty self-explanatory, but I'd much rather be a part of an actual team, as opposed to constantly hoping for the best. Glad: Because I've actually had some really good random matches, they just don't outweigh the, uhm, not so great ones. And yes, I know it's almost 4:00 in the morning where I am. DBC
Hey, I've been on later (earlier?) than you one or two days ago. I could literally see the sunrise when I decided I needed to turn in >.> I think I'm starting to see Siegfried's stinginess as well, he's been shortchanging me on mithril for a little while now. Serpent has been considerably more generous...when it decides not to LAG. Had a match where I literally died spending the whole match doing forward rolls and backflips, because the Serpent decided to follow me incessantly without ever stopping to actually attack. I might change my armour set up completely once I've done my gold rushes for the day. Need to get back to my lightning-strike roots with the Thunder armour ---------- Some rather interesting random matches today: Double Rages: had a play in Draco Armour leave quite early on after he wasn't getting any kills. My remaining partner was rank 5 - decked out in full Strike armour, a FLOAT pack, an M-27B1 (which I suspect was fully upgraded), and loaded with two or three health packs, a hyper clip, and a full revive. He actually made a good teammate -- my only regret was that he died from the Mantis's projectiles before we killed it, sorry buddy =.=" Serpent: played alongside someone who looked like my twin! Double vision was fun
sorry i havent been posting a lot, just nothing to talk about, right now I'm just gold farmin, nothing new
Darthguy, do you have any trouble using splash damage to take out the flying bugs with the Trinity? I was playing around with it on Serpent, and those things aren't dying unless I'm shooting right at them. I'm still more comfortable with Windblade usage so far. Just pulled out the Thunder Armour for a few boss runs. It's like being reunited with a long-lost friend...a long-lost friend who makes you feel practically untouchable with the speed and power boost after being weighed down by the Andromedae legs >.> -------- As it turns out...if you start a one-player match against Poison Pit, and then use a Hyper Clip, the Thunder Armour's ability, and the Laser Cannon, it dies within 6 or 7 seconds without ever moving. Much like using a chaingun and a hyper clip on Mantis in a 3 player match. Poor spider >.>
Insomniacs unite, eh? I DID it! I broke the curse! Boy, did I ever. Played two matches back-to-back, the first after losing both teammates very early, and the second with a full team all the way though... Mithril count? 3 from the first,and... my whole team got 4 from the second! Serpent? Not sure why, and I know Darthguy has complained about it before, but Serpent does some interesting things with lag, glitching, etc. I tend to finish 3-4 out of every 5 matches without losing connection or having Serpent glitch... with full teams surviving until the boss fight, mind you. You know I love the Thunder set. Quick, and that 30% boost? Wow, Rank 5 huh? I hate seeing players die when they're doing that well, especially at lower ranks... I played a few matches with Rank 2-5s that were very satisfying yesterday, including a very efficient team of Rank 2 campers with very underpowered weapons who finished Mantis with me, and a Rank 3 who ended up finishing Mantis with a HCed rifle after taking virtually no damage and matching my kill bonus... DBC
Hah... hah... hah. Seriously though, that 50% makes things very interesting with regard to Thunder vs. (say) Perseus... The ability to end up with 150% DPS on something like the M-Series poses an intriguing argument for using the Thunder, even at much higher levels... Did you catch the part in my post about Siegfried? Hmmm? Hmmm? DBC
Thunder havers? Do you suggest me getting the thinder armor, I'm done with gold farming, I'm only non-cologned rich but the thunder armor sounds... Tempting, Should I get it? The perseus power bonus is 1.1*1.05= 1.155 opposed to 1.5 1/4 of the time. .5/4= .125 which is .095 Power difference.
Yeah, congrats on shaking some insane mithril payouts from Siegfried I might need to pay him another visit or two today...stingy lizard's still giving me nothing =.=" Well, as a testament to the Thunder Armour's usefulness...I just went out and effortlessly killed all the bosses single-handedly with it. I was using the SAM pack instead of the STK as well, so the armour's plenty powerful enough on its own, even against Serpent and Double Rages. Double Rages in a 3-player match is a little more problematic though, because the attacks do more damage the more players they are, and the Thunder Armour's defense doesn't come anywhere near the Perseus (triple HP AND 30% reduction in melee damage? That thing's a brick wall).
First question is, how often do you get hit when you're using the Perseus? The Thunder Armour basically allows you to mow everything down in a matter of seconds, but you'll need to get used to some rather fancy evasion work, especially if you're camping. While the Perseus armour's durable enough to cop a couple of projectile hits, you pretty much don't want to get hit AT ALL with the Thunder Armour, if possible. Basically, the Thunder Armour encourages you to attack fast and hard, while figuring out how to manage your space such that nothing can touch you -- even if you're camping in an enclosed space. It's definitely worth looking into if you want to train up your ability to evade both close- and mid-range attacks simultaneously (e.g. "zerglings" swarming around you while the scorpions fire stings at you from a distance), and you're going to have plenty of fun with the rechargeable ability. If you're not looking to buy or upgrade other equipment just yet, GET IT.
Your figures here are slightly off. With the power bonuses offered by individual armour components, they're added together. In the Perseus' case, it's actually 10% (chest) + 5% (arms) = 15%. HOWEVER, I just tested out the figures, and there's actually a hidden armour set bonus which isn't written in the description: by wearing the full Perseus set, you gain yet an additional 5% power, which means that the full Perseus suit has a power bonus of 20% (or a damage multiplier of 1.2). ------------------- The Thunder Armour does not have any hidden power bonuses for wearing the full set, so it only gains 20% base power from its arms. Without using the Thunder Armour's ability, it has a damage multiplier of 1.2, so the Perseus is similarly powerful at this stage. The Thunder Armour's rechargeable ability states that 50% power is added for 10 seconds, after which it takes 30 seconds to recharge. It is not clear how this power bonus works: if it is simply added on, then the Thunder Armour's damage multiplier becomes 1.7 for 10 seconds. HOWEVER, if the bonus actually multiplies the damage output (as seen with the Atom and Cygni's set bonuses, where the 30% damage bonus multiplies the power bonuses as well for the relevant weapons), then the Thunder Armour's damage multiplier is 1.8 for 10 seconds. If you were to use the Thunder Armour's ability repeatedly, then its average damage multiplier is either 1.325 or 1.35 (depending on the exact way the ability functions), against the Perseus's multiplier of 1.2. Damage-wise, the Thunder Armour is superior.
I wanted to thank everyone for their congratulations, but you especially, because I think other than Superion, (who made it his mission in life for a couple days to help me get paid ), I'm pretty sure you had to listen to me whine the most... So thanks! DBC
Boy, this is tough... First, "non-cologned rich..." Priceless. I personally love the Thunder set, for what it is. I mean, it got me to where I am at an arguably lightning-like pace. Perseus vs. Thunder is all about how you're going to play. Thunder forced me to be conservative with regard to melee. It really allowed me to feel what my lower level enemies were capable of doing to me if I wasn't careful. The positive was that my carefulness resulted in opportunities to do massive damage to bosses without worrying about getting help. Perseus allows me to be less careful with melee, but does increase my reliance on the weapons of others. In other words, I can survive longer, and I kind of need to... Frankly, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up if you've got the extra cash... it sure is fun to see the bosses health bars drop so quickly with the Thunder, the M Series, and HCs... DBC
Just upgraded my M-27 to level six!! But oh man 4.2 million for level seven...holy smokes what this game demands is crazy sometimes
