I'm wondering has most people here used the thunder armor as a step in there progress?(talking to the succesful high armor people with good weapons.) Also does anyone use Draco in there process, instead of thunder that was what I used...

It feels a little weird considering myself one of, "the succesful high armor people with good weapons," but I guess I'm alright, and I do have the Perseus armor set and a couple good weapons, so...

Yes, I most definitely used Thunder as a step. Honestly? I kind of miss it. Don't get me wrong, doing Mantis or PP in Perseus is hilarious fun, and I feel my ability and confidence benefitted tremendously from the switch (the staying alive part is pretty sweet too;)), but that 30% boost sure was nice...;)

I have not used nor purchased the Draco armor set.

For the first time in a Mantis random battle I wondered where the third guy was?
He was in the outside hall as far away from the action with his back to a rail just standing there
I went up to him with my guy and just stared at him...he feebly flailed his sword but did not leave that spot
He did die but oh boy this is fun team work!!!!!:)

You can still use the thunder armor, I might buy it for the sake of buying it, but after I polish my Trnity to level 8. (And get the hang of killing aliens with it.) I want to see Trinity + thunder armor, perhaps undead.exe could demonstrate? Do you like close range combat anymore:eek:? Because you ain't using the trinty?... At close range everything dies...

Just had a great two-on-two in Rages... well, after our swordsman died.;)

Really solid player, although I felt kind of bad because we picked different camping spots (yes, I camp on Rages:p), and even though I killed both bulls, the other player did way more killing than I did...

One thing that bothers me though. I feel kind of weird when I stop shooting waiting for the shield to fall while the other players keep firing away. Meh.

Have I mentioned how much I love the Rages plan involving not finishing the first Mantis until the second is dead?:D

Anyhoo, off to bed. Good night all!:D

Replying to multiple tidbits in 6 pages of absence:

Double Rages: I've had that glitch too! It's got something to do with the fact that the Purple Mantis comes down when the Green one only has 33% of its HP remaining...or perhaps, it's the other way around: what if the Purple Mantis only comes down when the Green one loses 67% of its HP in a continuous grind? I've had that glitch happen when I lost one teammate in a two-player match, but it looks like the glitch is highly likely to activate if you lose a teammate before the boss. As a final point of comparison, did the Green Mantis just stop moving for you guys when it hit 33% of its HP?

Thunder Armour: The Thunder Armour was actually a little more than a mere "step" in my own progress and growth: it was actually my final and ultimate armour before the level 7 armours appeared, and I used to fight with a much more agile playstyle using full Thunder and the SAM pack against everything from Mantis to Double Rages. That being said, my main priority on boss runs is gold-farming, hence the change to my current hybrid armour. The Andromedae legs makes it impossible for me to gun and dodge simultaneously anymore, so my playstyle's also changed as a result: I tend not to stray too far from one area of any map, and I won't bother to dodge projectile attacks if I think I can kill a boss before it kills me.

Edit: Also note that the Perseus Armour supersedes the Thunder Armour for gold farming purposes, but nothing comes close to the Thunder Armour's universal power boost across all weapons. Other notable damage armours are the Atom set (+30% laser damage) and the Cygni set (+30% rocket damage).

@Darthguy: If you just read the above paragraph, you might already know why I don't use the Trinity: close-range combat is best aided by a good amount of speed, and I've got very little of that right now. Additionally, I also feel the Trinity making me noticeably slower when I'm firing it than when I'm just holding it (that trait applies to most weapons, actually), so I use the Windblade instead for close range combat. I've still got a speed of 7 with the WB, whereas the Trinity drops me down to 6. While I think I *can* actually practice and work the Trinity into my current equipment and playstyle, I'm just not too fond of it at this point, though you're making some pretty good use of it from what I've seen :p

    Laser Cannon firing properties

To anyone with a Laser Cannon: do you guys feel like the Laser Cannon is firing a continuous beam, or actually firing 5 piercing projectile beams per second? I'm getting the impression that I can't just sweep the beam across a circular arc of enemies and have them all die, whereas it feels like I can do so with the M-27B1 because the firing rate is just a little under 6 bullets per second (5.88, to be a bit more precise). Since I can see each individual bullet from the M-27B1, I know how long I need to aim at an enemy to ensure that it's hit by at least one bullet, whereas I can't tell with the Laser Cannon if it's actually 5 discrete shots per second because the graphic only shows a continuous beam.

Seeing as I use it the most, and arguably probably the most efficiently at that, I feel that its hard to decide. Not sure about your point of view, but my shoop da woop Lazarus style works just fine in large groups of enemies. Seeing as you've played with me, the arc and strafe technique works perfectly for me.

Serpent is still on my to-do list for the day, wanna give me a hand?

(If so, plonk my name into the search bar before you reply, because I'm not passwording my matches if I don't have a guaranteed third)

    ---------------------------------

I just played Double Rages alongside a pair of laser cannon wielding maniacs -- I'm surprised I even GOT any kills with a railgun against two death beams >.>

The thing with the windblade that I don't like are the flying enemies,(mostly) you have to look up and in close range the other enemies get you, also I don't know if you use this or not but when I got my first bazooka I developed this playstyle; shooting in between two enemies or at your feet so the splash radius kill all of the enemies, with my current Trinity (lev4):( I can kill the enemies on serpent with 2-3 shots(the normal leaping walking flying and droideka type rolly thingy;) without their shields and the exploding green bugs.) The thing about the windblade is you have to get REALLY close even with the tip of the blade and the trinity you can be farther because you shoot at the ground near the enemy not the ACTUAL enemy witch is important. Also I just like the trinity because it looks beast;):D while the passer actully looks cooler than the windblade.;) I know it doesn't actually matter.

Yup, I know about utilising splash damage by shooting at the ground, I use that when I'm feeling evil in PvP.

Having to look up at the flying enemies is a bit of a pain, yeah, but I'm already quite used to that -- I used the Cutter to hack my way through all the single player levels up to Lair, so I've got a pretty good grasp of how to take out BOTH the flying bugs and the green blobs without getting hit by them -- the Windblade just made it even easier with its wave slashes. For now, the Windblade still has a spot in my inventory because of its lack of a speed penalty unlike the Trinity -- my remaining weapons are the M-27B1 (primary) and my railgun (primary on Double Rages and Serpent), both of which make me move slower.

    -------

I should also add...I actually move my whole field of vision when I use the Windblade, such that my two slashes are aimed at completely different places. For example, I'll look up to slash at a flying bug, and then diagonally back down to take out anything near me. Or, if I'm getting surrounded, I'll actually spin and rotate my field of vision as I'm slashing and running, such that the total range I'm attacking over the two slashes is probably closer to 270 degrees.

DBC, post again and follow the same instructions as my earlier post if you wanna Serpent, I'm still available for that :p

Darthguy, if you want in as well, I'll put a password on it (0230 if it's passworded).

    -------

Also, give it up to 2 or 3 minutes (as in, check the screen for 2 or 3 minutes from the search bar, not start LOOKING for me after 2 or 3 minutes) from your reply for me to set up a room and appear on your radar, this thread really needs an auto-refresh function. Assume that I'm not coming back once I cross whatever arbitrary time limit you've set for yourself >.>

With the trinity (when I'm surrounded) kill all the enemies around me quickly, I did a test run of using the Stk-06-zz and I could kill the serpent aliens fast and easy, with the windblade I can take out the flying bugs but with a lev8 windblade on serpent, the bug can also get you, I actually use the trinity for close-midrange on siegefried because the enemies come all around you if you are on the third slope(don't know if you know what I am talking about) and the enemies come for nothing.:D Except for maybe taking my energy which I have plenty of. Also on Rages I have a camping spot where the trinity functions much better than the M-2781, you can kill the enemy in 1 second Where the M-2781 takes 1 second to warm up and the enemy bites you by then.
