Does anyone have a quick and dirty "beginners guide" lying around for this one?

Kinda a basic "don't waste money on X,Y and Z near the start" sort of list of tips/tricks?

I've been digging into this thread today but haven't come across a few key details, like how much ammo/energy should I purchase for each gun? After a round is over it seems like the game will let me spend all ($100,000+) on one type of ammo with no limit. I'm not sure how much I should be buying and end up spending all my money on ammo.

I know the bosses can only be played in the co-op levels however can those be soloed? Even if I have my phone set to airplane mode (no signals in/out) will I still be able to play through them?

I did pony up for some IAP crystals to get the laser gun (low level one) and that has certainly helped my death-count but wanted to see what you guys think for a n00b.

Hehe quick and dirty, the way I like it :) so erm yea I would recommend not using much to upgrade the first few guns, avoid shotguns they seem to all be lack lustre, aim for the hybrid armour set then follow up with thunder/atom. Grab the gold and xp backpack. Energy (ammo) is used for all weapons do spend all you want on it. The blue item pickups in game are around 70 energy so that helps with ammo as well as the cash drops to buy more. I personally recommend when you can afford it the 2 chainguns as they are my preference, and having tried all weapons the second chaingun is IMO the best weapon in the game ( fully upgraded ).

You can solo the bosses but you need to be on wifi/3G to do so, just so you know airplane mode allows you to use wifi, you simply enable wifi after putting your device into airplane mode.

Play through the single player levels do a few boss runs to see if you can do them (rewards go down after every kill for bosses on a single day). Then try some endless on the highest level you can survive a few hundred kills on at least and take it from there (the higher the level the higher the gold/xp reward for the same amount of kills). Of course training base (odd name for the last map) will give you the most return, for 2000 kills in one endless I got 5 mill gold :D

Hope you enjoy the game, and don't forget always have medipacks! Oh and on some maps you can find a spot that allows you to not require too much movement / not needing to watch your back. Eg on training base go up the left ramp, don't run around the middle getting raged. On the map before this you can go up one of the two hills and fear nothing from behind :) super safe.

A few things for a new player.
Don't waste too much cash on new items, only upgrade a couple times on your way to the end gear you're aiming for. Don't waste money on shotguns unless they are improved in an update. Upgrading a gun raises damage but not energy (ammo) cost (afaik), so I'd recommend getting just one mid range, cost efficient gun (rifles are cheapest to operate), and upgrading it a few times while saving up for a top tier gun.
For armor I went from starter to fortune->hydra->thunder (now thunder and atom), but you could probably even just go one mid level set before the top (I only got fortune because I realized I could buy the whole set for the price of the hydra piece I had planned to buy).
For ammo, I would just track how much you use in a game and try to keep at least two or three times that amount on hand. That way you aren't taken by surprise as alien numbers increase. Don't worry about buying too much, you will use it eventually. FYI you have a shared pool of energy which provides ammo to all weapons (each gun has a cost in energy per shot, so ammo is just energy/cost of equipped gun).
Also, get into online coop ASAP. I waited til I was almost done the solo missions but now that I see low levels getting huge bonus cash in coop I wish I had started earlier ;)

I've been playing the last couple hours straight, no problems. There do seem to be more players on than usual, but it would be hard to believe overload...

Could be overloaded servers. But you know how we all had the issue of the game not letting us play in Co-op? Well it's doing the same thing, saying sorry connection can't connect to server. I have full bars of connection and fast Internet so I don't know what the problem is.

Server is up the whole day.
It seems there is a bug in Game Center or maybe in our side. Sometimes players log in Game Center but can't access our server.

A simple way to test: Kill and restart game, if you see welcome XXX back and still can't log in to server, that probably means server is down.
The server is kind of stable now. It is up for almost 2 days without restarting.

I took someone's advice to farm Siegfried. It's hands down the best map to farm money even if you don't complete it :D

Is the 1000 gold small health pack a health kit? I need the 100 health kit achievement.

Lol more fun and unique? Its a frigging match 3 game ! There's a billion of them on the AppStore and there all boring IMO. But I like the game that this topic is actually about, very much. And I hope for continued support and updates.

What gun do you use? I find the training base more rewarding than siegfried when im using chain gun, as in with the same amount of energy spent i get more gold doing training base.

Agreed, I said a few posts ago training base is the one to do. I also use chaingun and you run out of things to kill frequently because it's such a power house :)

I did a little test. Ran Siegfried, Training Base (the normal map) and the boss version 3 times each, killing the first 10 enemies - 8 zergs and 2 flying bugs, no pickups.

Siegfried gave me ~6k while the others gave ~4-5k.

Is there anyway to sell guns/items? I hope that gets included in an update. I maxed out the best non iap Assault Rifle, now 3 stars upgraded on the best non iap lazer... Though next upgrade is 750k! Thinking perhaps i should just save for the 1.4mill chain?

Yeah I think star level of the stage in part determines money per kill. Sigfried's stage has two more stars than training base and is the best for making money in my experience. Plus I usually open a 3 player sigfried game and more often than not, underleveled people join and die immediately so I get about an extra 100k of aliens to kill.

Well I think it depends what your doing, you want a short burst of cash a quick one or 2 runs fine to seigfreid. However the boss cash diminishes to pointless waste after a few kills, and the restart time f the maps begins to add up. However in training base you don't stop killing, there's no wasting time nor diminishing cash or rehosting the level. You also have the fun of trying for your best score (kills) rather then the boring rinse and repeat over and over and over like seigfreid. So I guess it's upto you, but if your playing an hour or so I feel your better off 5 million gold from training base in one run.

Like I said when I first suggested sigfried was better, it is only true if you don't actually fight sigfried. Rehosting time is like 2 seconds. Repeating the first part of sigfried definitely nets me more money than an equal length trading base run, even if I'm solo, and when noobs join me, its like twice the money I'd get from TB.

If you have a group of 3 and they die. Do there alien monsters dissappear also? Everytime I have little to kill it sucks.
