Correct, but the probability drops precipitously after the first. Getting two from one boss is tough. Getting 3 is just being very very lucky. When you go to the game creation screen and look at the picture of the boss, it's in the upper left corner.
Yes, I understand those. If you want me to try and gauge my ability by trying my methods with mantis and PP, I've already tried mantis, and it took me about 4 seconds. PP I'll do later.
I think I get what you were trying to say, but tell me if I'm wrong. It's a return on investment thing. If both other players die on me during Mantis or PP, I obviously don't have to pop a HC, I just do because it's the difference between waiting around for what seems like an eternity for the boss to die, and doing it most expeditiously, so I can move on. Something like that? DBC
The trick is for you to do it using both weapons so you can compare. You might also have to pick a boss that dies in more than 4 seconds...so yeah maybe mantis isn't so great there. The reason why is the laser cannon is higher DPS until you hit the cool down. It's the cool down plus the subsequent start up cost after it that makes the cannon worse. All of this of course implies that you don't believe the weapons do the damage the game says they do. If you work the math the M-2781 comes out way ahead.
Well the cooldown+start up isn't bad unless you don't handle it correctly. The cooldown is apparently 5 seconds, and the startup is around 1.5, so it would SEEM the wait time is 6.5 seconds, but the startup can charge while you cool down, so it's around a 3-3.5 wait time. It obviously is still bad to be waiting at that time, but I prefer my two weapons to the M2871. I also like the cannon for its stability.
Uh, sure, although in multi, the health is higher. I've tried soloing PP now, the record for the m2781 (keep in mind these are approximate mind counts) is 26 seconds, and mine are just about the same.
Although, I did lose a few seconds on my try, seeing as the spider was able to jump on me, knocking me around, while in the m2781 try, I avoided it.
Erm, not quite. It's just a test of how quickly I can defeat it. Keep also in mind that I did not use any HCs during the run. But yes, most of it is done in the mindset of getting it over with. I just wanted to prove that the M2781 isn't the only weapon out there, and that others are similarly powerful.
One thing to factor in as well is on bosses where the fights last longer than the duration of 1 hyper clip (siegfried and up), you make a profit on hyper clips. Basically the M-2781 costs 1/.17 * 40 * 30 = 7056 to fire for 30s. Since the hyper clip doubles your damage, you do as much damage as firing 7056x2 worth of ammo at 7056 + 4000 cost. 7056x2 - (7056 + 4000) = 3056. That means if you use the clip and fire constantly at the boss, for its full duration, you effectively save 3056. If you're using the STK you save even more because of the 50% increased ammo cost. making it 1/.17 *60 * 30 = 10588. 10588x2 - (10588 + 4000) = 6588.
There are other small factors that are there as well. I'm not arguing about the cost of profit:ammo, but some things include: whether ammo is of any concern (I buy large amounts, so it takes forever to run out), the start up time (same as the laser cannon) for the m2781, and also possibly how well one does in the preliminary wave form a monetary POV. (Profits ARE adjusted there depending on how you do and how many you kill.
@ MinecraftAlex - I don't know who you are, but if you ever come into TA I want you to see this... It was a pleasure taking down Serpent with you, and you're good people. I wish I could remember the other player's tag, but that might have been the best, most efficient, most satisfying piece of teamwork I've seen yet... and I've played with some pretty good teams. DBC
Seriously. The thing that frustrates me is you're only hurting yourself, and for literally a negative profit. I mean, what are the odds that you're not going to make back your ammo/HC costs during the initial wave? Unless you run around not doing anything, the answer is almost without question zero. So, even if you die, you lose absolutely nothing, and using HCs only increases the odds that you'll survive. On the minus side, well, there really isn't a minus side. On the plus side, I just earned 1,000,000+ and 3 Mithril for killing Serpent, so the plus/minus is astonishing... DBC
