Won’t rotate on 8+ either, if you’re looking for anyone to chip in!

Screen rotation not working on my 6s plus and iPad pro 12.9 2nd gen. But the workaround suggested works just fine. Also, bigger font option on iPhone would be good.

    Hello Trese Brothers,
i would like an open world game that has FTL ship battles and Darkest Dungeon crew battles. This looks like it could be it from gameplay videos i have seen.
However, i read that it may be too complicated, that you can get left behind on main story and progression curve if you try to figure out how it works or you just want to explore.
And finally, there is a video : How to understand and play STF that is 45 minutes!!!
So i have to ask you directly, can i pick it up and play the way i want -quest-explore-battle-upgrade, and have a satisfying game experience, or will i lose the story and progression unless i read guides and vids on how-to for hours before i play the game?
Finally, congratulations because it seems like a fantastic game, and i hope you can help me decide if it is for me or for the deep space strategy fans.

When a game does not fit at three sides out of four? Did not know that! So practically all the appstore games are compatible with iphone X. Well i guess it is just not for my tastes. Personal preferences aside i hope the game does well. It is a premium one and at a very low price with high production values. :)

Can you see the difference between these two screenshots? XCOM has not been optimized for iPhone X. Star Traders: Frontiers has. It’s not about “fitting”; it’s about proportions and screen use.

It’s important that we don’t spread misinformation here at TA. Saying “the game doesn’t use the entire iPhone X screen,” is accurate. “The game is not iPhone X compatible” is not.

Hey my intention was not to spread misinformation in the forum. I am many years active here at toucharcade and tried to help as much as i could with my reviews. If i misinformed someone then i take my review back and if you want i can delete it too. Had no idea about about screen proportions and all the facts you wrote. I just wrote what i thought was going on with the game with no bad intentions intended. Sorry if i am derailing the thread just wanted to clear that out :)

xcom just doesnt fit on my xs max..mailed 2k abt it with attachments and they replied me claiming all the new 2018 devices supports xcom. also they have no plans to update/optimize games for newer devices. 2 statements with different meanings. they never released updates for newer devices. it works but not full screen

star traders on other hands seems to be much better on xs max than xcom even without "full screen"

No worries :). Just wanted to make things clear for those who are considering a purchase. For many people in TA, a game being “not iPhone X compatible” is a point of contention, no matter how good it is otherwise.

In any event, since screen size is a game feature, we technically did not derail the thread ;).

    Not sure if anyone answered.

When you push a game to the appstore, you are initially in test mode (Test Flight) and you can push out many versions to testers as you fix bugs. Once you are happy, you then release it. Hence you can have many months of version notes before an actual release

The letterboxing in here isn’t too bad. But since there already is a lot of borders to the gameplay screen, I don’t really get why there couldn’t have just been background or framing in those edges. It’s not a big deal, just distracting for me not to have the entire screen filled. I know, I’m weird like that.

Oh my god, this is absolutely fantastic. I've only had a little time to play, but it's clears so far that this is the kind of game that I will be restarting time and time again until I have a setup I want to commit to. So much to learn and try out. This is for sure not a quick pick up and play type of game, but that's totally fine for me. We already have enough of those! This is a title I plan to curl up on the couch with in front of my ipad pro and spend a few hours at a time.

Please fix screen orientation to either landscape view (currently only allows one orientation and its upside down - having to hold my iPad Pro with the pencil at the bottom).
When you are upgrading ship parts can you make the filter default to what you currently have selected please. Having to set up a filter to look at weapons is a pain in the bum).
Have a forced crash every time I try and update a character to level 6 combat medic.
Other than that it’s a great game.

I would recommend picking it up. So far from the little bit I’ve played it hasn’t been as complicated as it first seems. Let me put it this way, the most difficult Trese Brothers game for me to get into was the original Star Traders. I own the original but I’ve only played a tiny bit of that game. Frontiers feels much more intuitive than the original and while it’s icon heavy (every icon has a tooltip) I can see within a week being able to just glance at certain info screens and have a good idea of all the information. The UI feels very much like an early 90’s mainstream PC game which probably makes the game more comfortable for me to get into than the original.

Being a fan of Darkest Dungeon or better yet savvy at that game then honestly Frontiers initial complexity won’t hold sway over you for long.

If you decide to pick it up and don’t like it then I apologize for wasting your money but if the game clicks for you it may be one of your favorite games. I bought the game based on being hyped from the preview video and I am happy I did.
