Some guy named Mack said that the game wasn't worth $5 because of a funky and confusing AI. And before that guy started his (minor) complaining, others on the thread made the game's UI sound broken. It's not.
Yes! I have found it impossible to beat. You plod along until the AI generates a 20 or so attack and you're done.
"My hopes for the quality of the Star Realms app were sky-high when I played the PC beta back in June. Im disappointed to say that the mobile app doesnt quite live up to potential." yet another vote for "game is clunky" from Pocketactics (it's not just me! ). brief article here. and before someone scolds me for bashing the game and why don't i just leave, i'm not bashing it. i like these kinds of games and i like this one and it could be and should be allot better so i'm just hanging around trying to promote that.
The ONLY part of the UI I find "clunky" is where you have more stations or cards in play... my instinct is to swipe the list to move it. Instead, there's an arrow that you tap on individually. Same with the zoom in one. And the Campaign takes some serious swings. The first time you meet Green, it's a beat down. And then in Campaign 2, the very first guy likes to take EVERY SINGLE base they can. And I never seem to have them available when I'm drawing. But lord knows, I'll take a card and it'll spawn the 3 research 2 health ship or a super cheap base that is insta-snatched.
Bought the game on PC via PayPal. I got my receipt via email, but nothing else. I guess I should receive a registration code or something? Don't they send that automatically? Maybe it just takes them some time (I've waited a day now)? Has anyone else experienced this?
Played and enjoyed the first chapter with no issues (Ipad3) Am now going to buy full game. Look forward to seeing some of you in MP.
Hi, why did you it that way? Why did not purchased on iPad? OK, try to log in on your PC and then go on restore purchase ... if this not work, send them an e-Mail ...
"It has come to our attention that some users who recently purchased the upgrade for PC or Mac have not yet received their codes. We are working to fix this problem and will get you your codes shortly."
Quick question...how come in some turns I have to start my turn by discarding cards? Is it because the opponent played discard card cards?
Yes, you need to pay attention to which cards they're using. The yellow fighter and the yellow destroyer both do damage + discards. They get vicious when they use scrapyard to scrap cards and get new ones.
So in the single player the AI has easy, medium, hard and the campaign has normal, hard. Placing them in one line i place them at easy, normal, medium, and i am not good enough to decide if the two hards are equal or not. Comments and observations?
Do I get double points if I'm playing this game at McDonalds? Holy crap, how did this fly past my radar? Instabought, challenges issued. (If I missed anyone, challenge 'drelbs' for an easy win... ) Been looking for a deckbuilder that I could play with my family - I love Ascension to bits (even like the art, then again I love games like Vangers) but I just know that my wife would puke at first look. As soon as I have some buckazoids saved up, I'm buying two decks of this! Oh yeah - I am very grateful that the unlock carries over to the PC, I'll be playing it there when I can, it is so much nicer. Though even the PC version has some UI faux pas like when issuing challenges you have to click the button, you can't hit return after tying the name. I found it mostly OK on my iPhone, but the method for zooming in on a card (essential!) sucks x 4.
I just came here to ask if anyone had any advice for this level and saw your post, thanks! I had actually been focusing on red and blue as you suggested, but i think its gonna take a few tries before the perfect combination of them comes down. edit: victory is mine! I ended up with pretty much the same deck as you described. I pruned it down to about 7 or 8 cards in the end I think. bases mixed with the yacht meant I was basically drawing the same hand every turn. I had the trade escort instead of the flagship, but it worked just as well, a couple of clippers and some reds. I also found a couple of the yellow cards (survey and frigate) useful early on. if you play them and then immediately trash them they both give a card draw and make the opponent discard, which means extra authority on this level.
I played that level for TWO WHOLE TRAIN RIDES! I finally realized that you need some luck on the Trade Rows cards to swing your way to win. - The key is to put up outposts as much as you can regardless of faction. - Scrapping Scouts and Vipers as soon as you can so you don't have hands with only those crappy cards to play. - Destroy those BloB outposts as soon as they come out. - Have a outline of which faction to play. However, you're not necessarily buying exclusively that faction from the Trade Row. You can buy other ships/bases just for their good Scrap abilities like forcing a discard or drawing a card. - TRIM YOUR DECK. In the late game, those little red supply bots are valuable as they allow you to trim your discard pile so that only your heavy hitters or outposts are in them. This way you are not waiting multiple turns to get a good hand. - Outposts, outposts, outposts. - I want to add that when scraping a card from the center row, I pay attention to which faction the AI is playing for and scrap outposts in that faction. It's amazing how hard it is to attack through 3 outposts...I had the AI line up 3 outposts with 6-5-4 authority each. Lucky I strung together 21 attack. By the way....what are some big combos that other folks are stringing together? I put together a 30 pointer scrapping 2 outposts and having a card that duplicated another card which had 8 attack. I can't think of anything else right now. I've never played card battlers before and Star Realms may be my gateway drug.
star realms is the only game i am playing right now and i guess for a long time although i bought many games in the last weeks. it is just awesome, it is deep and becomes even deeper the more you play and recognize things you can do. the whole concept of "live" deckbuilding as a part of each match is new to me and i find that so brilliant and flexible concerning your own strategy... the online multiplayer is perfectly fine and there seem to be many players these days. i like magic the gathering but there is no chance to play it on ipad, i like hearthstone but star realms combines two aspects of them: it is easy to get started like hearthstone but deep like mtg. also the artwork, the whole atmosphere and the pricing (one time 4,49 for the whole game) is just fair. give it a try...
seems this thread has all but fizzled out but i'd like to add one more small gripe about the game. when it was first released on Google Play i noticed the developers added comments to what several of the reviewers were saying about the game not working on a particular phone. never mind the details, the operative words are 'the developers commenting'. my gripe is there has been lively discussions, comments, questions, and concerns about the game here, at PocketTactics, and on BGG but not once, in any of those venues, has the developer shown up to respond to the people who may be buying their product. i think that's poor support. i was going to say 'that sucks' but with 'poor support' i'll get less flack.
