I sent the update last week, it's still waiting to be reviewed.. looks like lots of updates before the xmas freeze is holding up the queue.
Thanks Turk. I've got the next update ready, it will be submitted when the Xmas iOS dev freeze is over in a few days. Added some new graphics, re-balance the game so that credit income is faster for most activities, ie. increase profit for the current NPC tipped routes, added some new routes. Increased kill bounties across all ships, makes bigger combat missions very rewarding, as well as more incentive to kill-steal NPC battles. :0 Reduced the cost for higher tier modules, and increase the sell-back price for obsolete modules. The story missions will also give more credits early on, to reward players who risk doing them early. Basically I want to refocus the game by decreasing the "grind" elements so that hopefully more players will embark on the story campaign and even able to complete it (the last few missions are quite hard, expect a few deaths). There's a branch in the story whereby you can join the Space Tigers (When you first meet the infamous Long Wang!), so by making credit income easier, I hope players will also be encouraged to re-play it and take that alternative route for some lols. Also the Turret Enhancer module also applies to Drones, making the Drone Carrier quite powerful. Lastly, the audio mute becomes sound mute, so it only applies to sound fx, not sure what I was thinking (or wasn't thinking) when I added it. :/
Looking for space exploration game, tempted to get this .. But I'm using iOS7 on my iPad 4 (retina) .. Do not wish to upgrade to iOS8 for fear of slowing down the device and since iOS8 features not important for me .. So anyone here using same iPad and playing this game , apparently on iOS8 now?
Submitted to Apple the next update yesterday. Should be out in the next few days. Notes: Added Interstellar inspired Einstein–Rosen bridge graphics. Increased profit on many trade & smuggling routes. Increased early story campaign Credit rewards (its recommended to start the story with a Stiletto + Mk2 modules). Reduced missile loadout on early pirates around the Al Dhanab region (a bit easier starting out). Increased most ship bounty reward for kills. M&M Guild may offer a 25% bonus reward for completing missions in a timely manner. Turret Enhancer module also buffs Drone Damage! Resale value for modules is increased. Lowered price of several top tier modules. Fixed an issue with music tracks not cycling. Changed the all audio mute option to soundFx mute. Added an in-flight exit (returns to Title Screen) option via the Pause menu.
hi. not sure if this was mentioned but i have an iPhone 6 with latest updates. i have barely played the game and i checked my battery usage... most usage was by this game at 27% and it says background activity. is there a way for this game not to destroy my battery? i want to play! also thank you for updating the game to a "exit to menu" in game. will it include a save feature?
Yes, a few users have mentioned it here. It's a bug with iOS8's new feature which I use to run my PC code, unported. I can't fix it til iOS fixes the known bug, sorry. If it happens, please kill the game once you finish playing. You can do it by double-tap the home button to bring up a list of apps running in the background, then just swipe Star Nomad off the list. When you exit, it will auto save @ your last jump in point so you can resume there.
Sorry another question. When I buy a new ship what happens to my old one. Is there a hanger? Do I get to sell it?
Ah okay... Sorry another question related to it. So I bought a new ship but I died but when I respawned it gave me my old ship back!
It's my own take on the perma-death approach.. you lose your ship but insurance covers most of it. Insurance will payout for ships beyond the starter Nomad at most of their Credit value (you lose 12.5% to 25%). Insurance fully covers modules. In the next update the loss is lowered to 12.5 to 20% (it varies depending on the ship, with more expensive ships losing less as a %).
You should let us add more mining beams in the turret slots, but keep the permanently installed one. So, if you have 1 mining beam in the turret slot, you have two beams. That would make mining less boring in cargo ships.
You mean to fly around without a combat turret? How about I add a 2nd upgrade for the Mining Laser, Mk2, firing 2 beams per shot?
That would be very nice, as my perferred way of making money is mining, but it is kind of boring to wait so long for each rock.
Hi Anh - Great job on Star Nomad. It's a blast to play. Just wanted to let you know the last update killed my saved game and I had to start over. Not a huge deal because I wasn't too far along, but I thought I'd pass this on.
I tested each update on my devices, it was ok to resume. But its probably related to the low storage bug on the save game, when you update, you download the new package then uncompress & install it on top of the current game, thereby using a lot of extra temporary storage. iOS8 is allowed to remove files generated by its WKWebView engine if the device is running low on storage. It's a very bad oversight because the point of the iOS team creating WKWebView is so it can run PC javascript/html5 at blazing speeds, thereby opening a new route for devs to make apps for Apple...
