AH_Phan, the latest update deleted my save game. Is this normal? Just holler, whenever you reach that point.
If you exit the game and close it from background apps, then restart it, it should resume properly. I had it happen to my iPad Mini 2 & Air, it work fine with a relaunch and the game continued as normal. I mentioned in the update, users should remove it from background apps (suspended list via double tap on home button) first. I'm encountering strange iOS8 bugs everyday. It's now the same as the Steam build and there's no more bug reports from that, it'll be the last update for awhile as I focus on SN2.
That did it. Thanks! As someone who has been around since i(Phone)OS 3, I find iOS 8 both the most exciting and most broken of all iterations. And some of my grievances are the worst I've come across in the history of iOS. It might not have an impact on Apple's unrivalled sales, but it certainly impacts the end user and developer experience, and something seems to have changed in the way Apple's engineers approach quality control... Liking the sound of that.
Turret AI auto-target nearby enemies. You control flight, missiles & modules. If you want to gank a neutral/friendly target, use missiles. Without hostiles to lock onto, all missiles will enter manual guide mode and they will follow your ship direction. Just beware there is a dynamic faction rep system so if you gank a few neutrals, you'll be on their badguy list.
Been very busy with Star Nomad II, here's a quick gameplay video of a small AI fleet battle. Hope you guys like it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49ct_qX3lSc
I'll have to see if its able to run the full PC game without taking complexity out or not, so it'll be out later. I hope I wont have to dumb down anything to make it playable on a touchscreen.
More screenshots, of two major factions (Empire vs Starborn) in a fleet battle: In a typical engagements, individual AI have priorities that best suit their weapons or speed/agility, ships with anti-fighter or drone weapons will disperse and chase those targets. Likewise, bigger ships will prioritize engaging other big ships where their guns can penetrate high armor better than smaller weapons. There's a few different damage types, ie. Energy (bonus vs shields, penalty vs armor), Kinetic (neutral) and Plasma (penalty vs shields, bonus vs armor). Armor has innate Armor Ratings that reduces incoming damage by a flat amount (as in Starcraft), so smaller fast firing weapons barely scratch heavy ship armor. I plan to have ships leave behind a wreck after destruction, player will able to loot it for cargo, credits or rare modified modules (to reverse engineer for a blueprint to craft). Also, as any experienced gamer knows in these sort of games, a major balance issue is thus: One of the problems with smaller ship classes is they fail hard in a blob fest engagement, often instant death due to the mass incoming fire. I’ve balanced this by giving ship classes an innate evasion, with a big bonus for fast Corvettes (smallest pilot-able ships), whilst drones have a very high evasion. This evasion only triggers against weapons which are not designed to engage these targets, so an all-rounder fleet is required, else a few big ships with massive guns might face a bunch of smaller threats which they a) can't track the fast moving ships as they weave & orbit and b) even when they fire, the target has a high evade chance to take zero damage!
Hoping Q3. It's a long way to go with so many features to be implemented & balanced. Thanks for the support, to you & everyone here who have purchased SNE, every little bit helps me fund SNII development. It is my last hurrah, make it (able to pay the bills) or break (quit gamedev, get a normal job). So I'm giving it my all. Hopefully it'll be enough & SNII will be an awesome game! Some more screens:
How do you eject your cargo? The tutorial girl mentions it in the main menu, but does not seems to be possible?
It's an inside joke, harken back to Privateer. NPCs you meet while flying around sometimes also mention it, that "sadly, all the civilian models lack the cargo-eject function". Cargo Eject will be in SNII, drop your loot and bad guys will likely stop chasing you!
Thought so with the ingame chatter. It was just the girl saying it in the main menu, that got me wondering....
Doh missed it while on sale my disability pension wasn't in. Ohh well hopefully next time Prolly should of kept version 1.
