such as ?? This seems to be the first serious effort for a contra-like game on ios , though the technical shortcomings (no retina , no true ipad version )are disappointing
Combat Zero, Private Joe...just to name a few. And there have been plenty of side scrolling shooters that don't necessarily "look" like Contra, but definately are in the same genre. Not saying they were good so I am hoping this is the "real deal" as far as Contra-style games.
I find the gameplay and controls to be very clunky and awkward. Just not fun at all. Hard to get into any groove because it just feels wrong. Contra felt smooth and "right" when playing. It's also rather buggy. Twice the dynamite on the pillars exploded but didn't take down the pillar, so I couldn't progress until exhausted all of my lives.
Thanks for the impressions. Doesn't sound good. Had higher hopes, but will still see what others think.
I can't tell if this was serious or sarcastic. Anyways, I don't see a problem with 8 way shooting either.
No I think its the guy whos following psj3809 around and saying every post is shill, because psj3809 did it to him on his first post in some crappy game thread (with good reason), surprised mods havn't dealt with him yet Any more impressions yet? I want to get this but non analogue shooting has me down, also 1 bad control review so far...
Hate to ruin the buzz in here but it seems to be laden with a fair amount of iAP. Gems are the currency and are what you use to buy weapons and upgrades. Also available are health packs and stuff which you can buy with these gems. From what I have played the game heavily encourages you to buy them as it will take a while to progress any other way.
Finally a platformer game that's NOT endless running/flying/jump/whatever. God hate those games. This reminds me of that insanely hard Contra game. Well was about to buy but then I saw this post, forget it. Not a supporter of any pay-mium games (non-free + IAP). Freemium is already bad enough, this is worse.
Only thing i noticed from the video is that the jumping doesn't look to be very responsive and aiming very rigid. Any hands on impressions you can give will be greatly appreciated.
With the few impressions given here, I'm inclined to pass on this game. STP's preview of tonight's releases is more positive: "GlitchSoft, the creators of Destructopus, have outdone themselves with this sci-fi shooter." Hope to hear more later tonight and read some actual reviews, but if the IAPs are necessary, I'm disappointed.
